Signing Reilly Long-Term
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryancnbb</b></div><div>domi wouldnt sign that cheap. im not a fan of the centre depth here</div></div>
I think it's possible he has a good year but I think more likely than not he'll have an underwhelming year and receive so/so offers on the open market. It's possible he may want more on a one year contract but I don't think most teams could offer him the opportunity that Toronto could offer him. The center depth is passable at the bottom of the lineup and exceptional at the top of it. It evens out

Signing Reilly Long-Term
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>saysthemachine</b></div><div>Why would he take a discount to play for the Leafs when he can play somewhere he's properly valued and would deal with less grief? It's not his fault they spent all their money.</div></div>
Why do players take hometown discounts all the time when then? There's lots of examples and he's a big part of the organization. Because some fans don't appreciate him as much doesn't mean he's not appreciated. Plus, there are worse ways to spend your money then to spend it on Matthews, Nylander, Marner and Tavares. Those players are at the very least legit all-stars to generational goal scoring talent in Matthews.

100% I think he's pretty great offensively and average defensively. He's a top pair dman for sure and he plays lots of minutes. Plus Hyman would've taken a hometown discount but the leafs didn't want to shell out 5 mil or something close for a forward who has a long injury history. Although I love Hyman don't get me wrong.

He would but that's why he'd sign a hometown discount contract. I think Parayko is nearly as good as a dman but he has more value in the league considering he's big and right handed... which is stupid but it works like that in the NHL.

Leafs - VGK
I don't mind this trade but I would want a higher pick other than a 5th and a 7th. If it was a 2nd and 3rd I'd consider it more. Also if it comes with a reasonable extension for Smith I would probably do it.

I think this management group wouldn't. I would consider it closer to 6 million but I think they worry about long term cap structue more than most teams.

Reilly trade to Hawks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Not a chance Chicago agrees to that. Hawks shouldn't do Reilly for Strome straight up!</div></div>
Reilly is a better and more valuable player than Strome. Strome probably could hit 50-60 points and Reilly could do the exact same thing PLUS play valuable D minutes and is probably better defensively too. Only reason it makes sense for the leafs is his contract is up. It's a fair trade. Plus LTIRing Shaw spills their bonuses over into next year which makes no sense.

Reilly trade to Hawks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I wish he Hawks and Leafs had got together before the Jones trade, and the Hawks had acquired Reilly for what they paid for Jones.
Leafs decline this package as they make a Cup push with Reilly, though he leaves as a UFA next season.
Thanks for the incoming the totally irrelevant LTIR Shaw in the trade.</div></div>
The LTIR Shaw thing makes more sense for the leafs then it does for the Hawks. You have to be up against the cap to use it, the Hawks have some players who could hit bonuses and if they're so close to the cap this year , it will spill over into next year. I think it's a fair trade. Reilly is a more valuable player than Strome but Chicago has more forward depth than Toronto and I think Chicago would be a better team with him. I think the Jones trade is somewhat relevant but not really.

It hasn't been confirmed yet. Also it still makes sense cause there is still a pandemic. It would be good to have extra players on hand in case someone or multiple people get sick, even though yes they have to be vaccinated.

I should've said but they extend him. The Pacific division is so up for grabs. I think the only team guaranteed to make it is Vegas but I think if they could fall apart without Fleury. EDM is good but their defense and goalies are really bad. Kings can legitimately get in because their defense is now better with Reilly and their young forwards are incredible.

Honestly that Leafs trade isn't terrible but I would want a better forward/defense prospect other than Ryan Suzuki. Maybe even you could add another defense prospect and I'd think about it.

I think Dermott is a lot better defensively then he's given credit for. Sandin will only get better as he ages. I think it's a solid 3rd pair, I would like Bogosain over Dermott there but I think he's gone unfortantely.

I agree, I saw some other Rangers fan post this trade but without Vehni Venhillian and I think it's fair. Lilly could be even a 4/5 defenseman someday soon and he's still young. I just think the Leafs need more stability in goal. Plus Georgy being an RFA next year helps.

Arizona is retooling at the very least, possibly even rebuilding cause they have nothing of substance. They lost draft capital this year and last year so giving them two veterans on two year deals gives them options to A. Keep them or B. Trade them and get pieces for them. Plus Abruzzee and Villenauve would have some attractiveness to them. Also Arizona needs to protect Hill, and I'm not sure a lot of teams would want 1 year of a goalie who's 4.5million who often injured. They could try but I think most teams would try to wait until after the expansion draft. That's why Seattle would eat half of the contract, which I don't think Arizona would want to do, and the leafs would expose Dermott and give Hallander and a 3rd. Rather than the leafs just exposing Engvall or Joey Andersan.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Arizona isn't going to trade Garland for futures (rebuilding teams only trade veterans for futures, not developing talent) and the expansion draft isn't going to sneak up on them and take them by surprise; if they decide not to protect Kuemper, they'll trade him somewhere for something.</div></div>

Mikey had a breakaway or a partial breakaway every game basically lol he's speedy and defensively sound. If he improves his shot a bit he could easily get 15-20 goals.

Yeah unfortunately that's the point. But if they come out with no goals allowed I think it will be okay. Also I think Mikey has a few more goals in him this year considering how many breakaways he got and missed on.

Honestly I like this roster a lot but I don't think Robertson is ready yet so I think it would be good to have a league min player in his place for now. Also I think I would prefer to spread out the lineup a bit and not sign Saad. I also wouldn't get rid of Holl especially since his contract is really good. Jake McCabe's contract is rich too .
I know I said a lot of negatives lol I still think this is really good and mostly realistic. I like the Arizona deal and the Carolina deal too.

Leafs 2022
I think this is pretty realistic, I just think Arizona would want more only cause I think Dvorak is more valuable for 4 years remaining at a reasonable contract. I think you may need to add a B level prospect like Abramov or Abruzee but I think it's pretty realistic overall. I think I would prefer to keep Engvall over Mikey but if Mikey can actually learn to shoot better... he could easily score 10 breakaway goals at least.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Whether or not NSH sells at the deadline, they've got more than enough Kerfoot-like players so he's not of much interest. If they do move Granlund, I'd expect a 2nd and another pick or prospect in the return - if NSH is expected to retain salary, the secondary asset should be bumped up accordingly. The Preds might hold onto Granlund based on their own playoff aspirations though. If they do or don't, they're probably interested in re-signing Granlund for next season. Bringing in Kerfoot just uses up cap space and a roster spot that would go towards Granlund.</div></div>
I think Kerfoot is a similarish player so if they want to make a run for it they can. They can even trade him before the expansion draft and gain more assets. If they really want they can resign Granland in the offseason since the Leafs most likely will not be able to resign him. The price for Granland with retention is more than fair. Hallander is a former second round pick, plus they get a third and Kerfoot. Roster spots is not important since they're probably not gonna add if anything they will sell.

Yeah I mean worst case scenario I think they put Anderson on LTIR and gather cap space until he is healthy and he can fit underneath the cap. The cap doesn't exist in the playoffs. I think the price for Hall is high but I am comfortable giving up more for being in "Win now" mode

It's mostly that high for the retaining factor and since Nashville is still in it, I want to encourage the preds since they're still in it. I do agree Granland is probably as good or maybe even slightly better than Kerfoot. I am comfortable giving up that much for both Hall and Granland as it helps for the cap and I want to be all in for this year.
