Like the thought on Bernier especially if Andersen is going to LTIR for awhile. Hutton or any Dman for that cost is good.
I wonder if Hall can help and don't like the price, but glad you included non roster players in the trade.

It's mostly that high for the retaining factor and since Nashville is still in it, I want to encourage the preds since they're still in it. I do agree Granland is probably as good or maybe even slightly better than Kerfoot. I am comfortable giving up that much for both Hall and Granland as it helps for the cap and I want to be all in for this year.

Yeah I mean worst case scenario I think they put Anderson on LTIR and gather cap space until he is healthy and he can fit underneath the cap. The cap doesn't exist in the playoffs. I think the price for Hall is high but I am comfortable giving up more for being in "Win now" mode

Whether or not NSH sells at the deadline, they've got more than enough Kerfoot-like players so he's not of much interest. If they do move Granlund, I'd expect a 2nd and another pick or prospect in the return - if NSH is expected to retain salary, the secondary asset should be bumped up accordingly. The Preds might hold onto Granlund based on their own playoff aspirations though. If they do or don't, they're probably interested in re-signing Granlund for next season. Bringing in Kerfoot just uses up cap space and a roster spot that would go towards Granlund.

I think Kerfoot is a similarish player so if they want to make a run for it they can. They can even trade him before the expansion draft and gain more assets. If they really want they can resign Granland in the offseason since the Leafs most likely will not be able to resign him. The price for Granland with retention is more than fair. Hallander is a former second round pick, plus they get a third and Kerfoot. Roster spots is not important since they're probably not gonna add if anything they will sell.

Personally I hope the Preds sell the UFAs at least (Granlund, Haula, Richardson) regardless of what their playoff position is. If they make it into the playoffs that's great, but the future should be their focus. Whether or not the return here is fair from the Leafs perspective is moot, as it's not what NSH should be looking for in a Granlund trade. A 2nd pick would be the bare minimum they'd want for Granlund, not just a 3rd. Hållander isn't going to be a middle six player, so he doesn't move the needle. NSH already has Jarnkrok, Sissons, Haula, Kunin, Cousins - all better and/or cheaper 3rd line C/W's than Kerfoot. I get that he provides a certain value to TOR but he'd be redundant in NSH. The Leafs are better off keeping him, than feeling they're not getting proper value by trying to foist him on a team that isn't interested in him.

It’s deadline cap space... they are retaining next to nothing, deadline retention is not worth much. You’re looking at a 7th in this instance.

Granlund probably won’t be moved anyway with the Preds holding a playoff spot.
