Tweaking Continues

Disagree - Kopitar is elite and Kovalchuk will have a year to mentor Kaprizov before his contract is up.
And for the Kings, they get younger with a couple of quality players and picks to restock.

Zuckers Value

They should both be rebuilding.</div></div>
Zucker and Rakell are pretty comparable, plus the Ducks get out from under Perry's contract (no dollars retained) for a servicable player in Rask that makes less than half per season than Perry, and the Ducks get a young piece in Shaw with a 3rd rounder. It's not a huge rebuild move, but it's a move in the right direction for both teams.

Just how this scenario worked out for me. Not necessarily a want, but more to create roster openings. If they were going to get a prospect back, it'd be one to develop in Iowa.

Zuckers Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>And then you trade him for that?!?!?! I love Gopher players, but I have never thought Fasching would be an NHL player and he hasn’t done a thing to change my mind. I would definitely not make that deal...but probably would your Ducks deal.</div></div>
Recoup the 3rd from the Ducks trade - I don't know enough about AZ prospects, so maybe you can get a higher end prospect along with the 3rd for Ek.

Flyers get two,Penguins and Caps get one +
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>All 3 pass. All lopsided for Minny.
For someone who praises up Spurgeon as one of the best d men in the league ‘Spurgeon for Ekblad straight up is fair”. “Spurgeon is better than Justin Faulk”. You sure do try to trade him alot. Lol
Either you have a large case of homerism or you are a used car salesman. Lol
He is nice 2nd pair defenseman. 4th best d man on your team. Hard pressed to call him one of the top 50 d men in the league. Probably Just outside that bubble. I know you are going to freak out about that but stop and think about it. 31 teams...doesn’t take long to get to 50. A couple teams have none. Most have 1 or 2 and a few have 3 or more.</div></div>
You are delusional if you think he is the 4th best d man on the Wild. He is one of the smartest and most consistent in the league. Yes, he isn't big and flashy, but he is arguably the best all-around defenseman on the team. I just think you like to hate on all posts because you must know anything and everything about every player in the league.

I like the targets -- <a href="/users/Hedman77" target="_blank">@Hedman77</a> it all depends on how GM's value their players. You can have your opinion, but you have no idea the values of players in the eyes of Fenton, Waddell, or Yzerman.

Fenton The Savior
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arousedcat</b></div><div>One of the only realistic offensive players I'd be comfortable moving Spurgeon for is William Nylander (obviously Matthews or Marner among others but those aren't realistic). I could see something happening there, although I know Bruce Boudreau thinks very highly of Spurgeon so he wouldn't be happy if Fenton traded him.</div></div>
With Suter up in the air, the two guys on the blue line that the Wild really can't move are Spurgeon or Brodin unless they are certain they can fill those roles, especially Spurgeon. If trading Dumba gets them the young scorer that they covet, then that would make the most sense. At the same token, it is hard to part ways with a young D that just put up 50+ points. Fenton has to be confident they can fill out the D-core when/if they move somebody.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Clarifying here - do you consider Duchene as a player with "a little edge"?</div></div>
Edge may not be the best word, but they need some flare, swagger in the locker room, shake up the dynamic the team is shaped around.

Bassman Will Hate It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>You are right! I do hate it...because I hate Douch-ene! I think he is the biggest waste of talent and the biggest ego in the NHL...neither are traits I want on the Wild.</div></div>
The Wild need a little edge to them...Too cookie-cutter right now. They need speed down the middle with play-making ability. And to the 7 year bit, absolutely, he is still in his prime and has been very durable through his career. Staal has one year left and Koivu is no higher than a 3rd line center, so they need to solidify down the middle.
