Pens would be the one team to throw in their first. Rutherford is such a gunslinger he is never afraid to part with anything. He makes it work all the time. Big fan of him

I just dont see him getting a 1st. Not at the draft or free agency time. Maybe at the deadline. Kappy would be the one guy I'd keep over anyone else I traded. Big kappy fan. I just tried to make the cap work. Easiest way would be to move 1 of the big 2 rw... but marner isnt going anywhere and nylanders deal keeps looking better and better

Not sure. But the calculator on this site said it was 875000.
Also I think dreger or Mackenzie said the same.

Yeah I actually signed him for 5000 more then what the offer would be. It would be around 875000 would be the qualifying offer.

That's if he signs the qualifying offer. And he'd still be an rfa anyways.
He has no arb rights or anything.
It would be basically a bridge deal
If he plays well then he earns his contract.

Totally agree.

Dumba for willy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>I agree with the, but I don't think that they necessarily need a Clifford or Martin. If the price is right, I'd take one, but its a team thing, and I noticed towards the end of this season that they were starting to play with some bite- they need guys like Matthews and tavares to step up and throw hits, which they actually shockingly had been at the end. Hyman is a gritty guy, kapanen was throwing hits and fighting like I had never seen before, kerfoot does play a bit dirty which I like, its not all that bad. and supposedly korshkov, who I have making it next year, plays with some bite too. I think its something that needs to be engrained in the team as opposed to overpaying one individual goon, and I think it was starting to happen. If the price is right, bring back Clifford by all means, but if not, cheap energy forwards who will do what it takes and play physical to be able to get some NHL games in will do. As for the D, I don't think Holl is a sufficient top 4 D on a contending team. In my opinion they need 2 solid RHD, which can be done.</div></div>
Forsure money has to be right. I loved martin on the leafs but not at 2.5...
I would love to grab guys like tyler bertuzzi. If the leafs had another Hyman that would be nice also. Guys like that to fill out other roles. I'd love to have all skill but at the right number getting some hungry guys in the bottom six is never a bad thing. You dont need to fight but you have to hit and play hard.
Leafs seem to skate around and like to play that soft game.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>honestly, not that I want either gone, but I'd trade Marner before willy, as he'll get a better return and take more money off the books. That being said I do think at least one other solid top 4 can be added before next season even under this cap</div></div>
I agree. I wouldn't want to lose either willy or marner. Even liljegren I'd keep.
I dont think their D is terrible they need 1 solid guy a right side jake Muzzin.
I'm more concerned over their bottom six. They need more forecheckers if that makes sense. Leafs have rarely if ever had star players like they do now. But their bottom 6 needs to play like a bottom 6. Pucks in deep and bang bodies. I hate how they're built with every line trying to do the same thing.
Guys like clifford and matt Martin before they dont put up points and fit the mould of what the leafs have become but at least you know they're going to play the same way every game. Guys like malgin are invisible down at the bottom because they dont do any else.

Dumba for willy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>I'd take ekblad any day. Has almost as much offensive upside and is an absolute rock defensively. But him and dumba will cost a lot. I'd give willy for ekblad, but not dumba. This isn't needed though. The top 4 can be filled out with many other players, they don't need another #1 D (it would be nice, but not needed). Just some solid, defensive top 4 d, and there are many other players that fit that build that cost half as much</div></div>
Fair enough.
If the cap was going up to what it was suppose to I for sure wouldn't trade willy. I'd look to sign a d guy but we'll see what the cap does or buyouts.

It is alot but it is satisfying a need we havent had in our lineup since phaneuf. Phaneuf wasnt perfect by any means but the dude played pp pk and the right side. And he was constantly crushed by his partners when hes paired with kostka lol.

And I'd rather have dumba then ekblad or a ristolainen or someone like that.

Players playing lots of pk time usually means they know what they're doing.
You thinking gauthier as pk guy is a joke he can barely stay in an nhl line up because he cant play pk. Hes a 4th line center at best who cant kill.
Leafs need centers who can kill. That's my point.
All year we have wingers taking draws.
Even before with komarov taking draws.
Go trade a 7th for parayko again

Glendening has top 5 mins on the pk... the leafs dont have 1 center who plays significant mins on the pk... it's always hyman and marner or kapanen and engvall... all wingers.
And tierney has top mins on the pk as a center.

Wanted to sneak Robertson in but I was 5000 over the cap. Plus if robertson isn't a top 9 hes wasted on the 4th. Korshkov is a big body who I would like to see get a real shot
I went heavy on solid pk guys and smart not flashy guys.
