<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>uphere</b></div><div>Now that the Arvidsson trade has happened, its difficult to know what Poile's asking price would be for Ekholm. I would have suggested Lavoie and Edmonton's 2022 1st round pick as a starting point for discussions, but if Poile is nervous about the expansion draft then perhaps he'll continue to undersell his assets. Ekholm is headed to free agency after next season, so Holland would have to be careful with this one.

I'm not sure what to say about that Tampa deal, other then that would be a fantastic coup for Holland to pull off.

There is a cost at which it does not make sense to spend future assets to deal with past mistakes and current pain. The Detroit deal is beyond that cost in my opinion. The roster you have built leaves more than $4.6M in cap space next season, and leaves Holland over $29M to add for the following season. Seemingly, buying out Neal would be inconsequential to your plans. So why not go that route, rather than trade away your first round pick and possible opportunity to draft a future franchise goaltender?

I don't think you are really incentivizing Seattle with your proposal. Ron Francis is in the driver's seat when it comes to the expansion draft, we just need to accept that. Caleb Jones might turn it around and become what the Oilers hoped he'd be by now, but the team has such a depth of talented young LHD that losing Jones is not a major blow for Edmonton. I also think Jones would not be much of an incentive in a deal for Ekholm. I am comfortable with the Oilers leaving him unprotected and Seattle claiming him. If Koskinen is not picked by the Krakken, then Holland might want to call up the New Jersey Devils. They have need of a back-up for their young starter, and they have piles of cap space. Koskinen's numbers are in line with an average NHL back-up and he is overpaid for just next season. There might be a fit there at a cost that is not too painful for Edmonton.

Staylock is unlikely to be the back-up in Edmonton next season, and he is probably not going to clear waivers. It makes sense to get whatever assets can be acquired in exchange for him.</div></div>

Thank you for your feedback.
