Backlund Hanafin for Lysell Poitras
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Actually Poitras fits Calgary's needs better than Lysell. He's a right shot forward too but is a bit bigger, plays center and works a whole lot harder. Lohrei fits Calgary's needs better too which is why I said to replace Lysell with him. Left shot center Boqvist is a decent extra piece too.
The big problem with this proposal is all that retention, especially on Backlund. Conroy has been going out of his way to NOT retain salary or take on a bad contract. He could have gotten more for Zadorov and Lindholm, probably Toffoli too if he'd been willing to retain salary or take on a bad contract (a short term one that is). Then again he still has all three retention slots available to use on other players.
My guess is Tanev, Hanifin and Markstrom will all be traded before the deadline. Backlund would probably welcome a move by now too and almost certainly if those 3 are gone.</div></div>
I liked your take. I’ll revise the trade. Salary retention was just to make the cap compliant. Otherwise there’s no room to fit the players in. Bruins have nothing in the cupboard.

Not sure if the numbers could work… his deal for 3mil is too expensive for Boston to squeeze in under the cap. But I like having a big body like him for the playoffs.

If they hoist the cup? Yeah, I’d trade him. Boston really lacks assets so I don’t think they would do it.
Plus it is fun to troll Tampa Fans… image Stamkos and Maroon in a Boston uniform.

But - Erik Haula, it feels like that poor guy gets traded every season. They just give him enough money to balance out trades. 😂

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AD88</b></div><div>That is no where near enough to get stamkos</div></div>
It would never happen…. But Stammer would be an ideal pick-up for Boston.
Assuming TB falls out of contention, Stamkos is pissed at the front office and let’s him go wherever he wants.
Wild falter as well and the Big Rig wants to play with his buddy… it could happen. Money would need to be moved around somehow.
In reality, Boston lacks picks and prospects to do much beyond getting a cheap rental.

Granlund
Granlund is finally playing up to his contract so this is a sell high type of trade. Bruins aren’t fooled. I liked his game in Minn but he’s fallen off more than he’s contributed in the past 3-4 seasons. Hence he’s bounced around quite a bit. Maybe if the Sharks throw in Ferraro it’s a deal… lol.

Max forgives Boston after Chara’s hit many years ago. Playoff push - Boston does not have many prospects or picks to wield but given Pacioretty’s health this might be enough. A young D man?

I think this is too rich for Boston. They like all the players included too much. Plus if they are “all in” they need the scoring* DeBrusk is supposed to supply.

Let’s assume the rumor is true… Calgary will just likely play out the string, unless they get something of value in return. Grzelcyk as a salary match and then… Boston checks cupboard… Sweeney breaks out a Looney. Heads it’s Oscar Steen - Tails, Fabian Lysell?

It’s a big swing. I like it if I’m a NJ fan. With Dougie Hamilton on LTIR that frees up a lot of money. They can do pretty much anything they want with that much cap space. I already hate them as much as I hated Tampa Bay and Kucherov a few years ago….

Goalie trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Seattle gets an upgrade in goal with Ullmark and Boston gets a good center prospect in Goyette.
Between Goyette and Poitras, you’d have two of the better center prospects in the OHL from last year. He’s probably not ready this year, but I like his offensive game. Driedger is overpaid as a backup, but you need to balance salaries and he’s solid enough to allow Bussi to continue to develop.
Seattle’s primary concern is goalie. Daccord is interesting after his year at Coachella Valley, but you add the Vezina award winner for 1.5m incremental in salary over Driedger and a prospect whose good, but not in your top set of guys.
I’m not sure if Boston considers this now, because I believe their goaltender tandem is a major strength.</div></div>
Interesting…
I feel like Boston has no leverage while they’re still trying to make a playoff run. I think of Seattle’s looking to upgrade their goalie situation. They might try to pry Swayman from the Bruins or go after Hellybuck from the Jets?

Jets-Ducks-Bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jetsfanmike</b></div><div>Depends on what the Ducks think of the prospects I guess. Those are the Bruins’ top two prospects and Heinola is the Jets’ top defence prospect. The second round pick that’s Montreal’s is essentially a late first round pick as it’ll be one of the top few picks of round two and there’s typically not a lot of difference in value between picks 20 and 40 in terms of percentage of players that hit and NHL impact.
Also, if Zegras is stuck at a dollar value that the Ducks think is unreasonable, then they will be listening to offers and a futures return like this trade scenario makes sense for them based on where they are at in their competitive cycle.
Maybe they think Zegras tops out as a #2 centre and he wants #1 centre money. If that’s the case, then something similar to this trade might happen, just with different prospects if these ones aren’t what they are looking for.
I can’t speak to the Bruins’ prospects other than various websites say those are the Bruins’ best two.
Heinola is still young (and waiver excempt), and he’s supposed to be one of the top 2 or 3 defencemen in the AHL already the way he controls play in that league.</div></div>
Thanks for putting this out there. I like the concept. Rarely do trades work where everyone is happy to give other teams what they need/want.
It’s a tough trade marketplace right now. As the season goes on the buyers and sellers will start to shake out. If a player has no intention of resigning then maybe they become available at the deadline?

As a Boston fan I am in favor of selling high on a smallish goalie set to make more money and tie up 7-8 million cap space in net. He wasn’t even allowed to play against Florida. They scrapped the two goalie rotation.
(In hindsight, maybe Monty should’ve listened to his millennials or were the millennials telling him not to play Swayman? I want answers and millennials fired either way!)

Couturier 4 Frederick Forbort
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Moss_Bucket</b></div><div>That's a fair thought process. Even though the team is in teardown mode Coots still has his NMC and had been active with the team off ice, so I don't think he really plans on waiving for another team. The guy loves Philly, so I doubt he moves while the full NMC is up.
If anything I guess the Flyers would accept this if some picks were also involved. Don't know the value lf the picks given injury history, but they'd likely aim for higher value picks.</div></div>

Philly fans would LOVE Frederick especially if he keeps developing, Forbort is a salary dump in this scenario.
Coots would be a Bergeron replacement if he’s healthy.</div></div>

Philadelphia would probably want to keep Couturier and see if he bounces back and have a good player on a decent contract or increase his value. Boston would probably have to add something… I just thought Philly’s situation trying to tear down and rebuild combined with Couturier’s balky back might make them move on. (If you could get him for this package, buyer beware and check the carfax)
