Why would Boston give up DeBrusk pending UFA at the deadline while adding an offensive piece to play alongside him?

Of all the yahoo’s tossing wild trades out there, this one is actually pretty close. 👍
Boston probably wants to hold onto Forbort for the playoffs… maybe PITT can take on some money to help the deal get done.

Agree. Dowd is a nice piece.
Max is close to being cooked with all his bad luck injuries… you can’t have him on the ice late in games. I’m not sure he fixes what ails the Bruins.
I’m also giving up on Grzelcyk and hoping Forbort has two legs for the playoffs.

DeBrusk reunited with Cassidy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Who replaces his presence in the lineup? If the Bruins were seeking a center like Elias Lindholm earlier, giving up DeBrusk without any player coming back seems like a step in the wrong direction, even if it might be fair on paper value.</div></div>
I was borderline trolling DeBrusk. Cassidy put him up on the box a few times for gliding around and not playing the right way. DeBrusk pouted and wanted a trade. (Cassidy then got fired for losing the room… and won a cup.)
As for team needs, DeBrusk could provide LV with some scoring punch. Bruins would gain enough cap space to go after… almost anyone… Hanafin? Claude Giroux?

KK to Buffalo
The captain and a first round pick for a quasi-bust? KK is probably not going to live up to the 2nd pick, he is young and big but he’s not worth that package imo.

DeBrusk to EDM Mantha to BOS
Meant to have BOS 4th go to WSH for salary retention but just semantics.
Washington gets EDM 1st for giving up Mantha to BOS
DeBrusk goes north and immediately goes on a 19 goal tear

Yeah, sure man, we accept, you don't by any chance have a bridge for sale too, do you?</div></div>
It started as a decent concept at first and then sort of fell apart.
EDM would really want Swayman / they would flip assets to ANH - Boston would get Vatrano or Henrique…
Now about that bridge.

Duhaime for Lauko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobloblaw</b></div><div>Wild say no.</div></div>
Duhaime is a UFA. Boston adds some size for playoffs.
Lauko has some term and plays a similar role. Young player with upside and affordable. Boston might not be excited about losing his energetic style of play.
Money works and both sides gain and lose at the same time. 🤔

I got this hot take from a writer on Sportsnet… they stated NJ needs a goalie and the Hischer was redundant with a logjam at C… trade for immediate need?
Personally, I’d call Nashville or Calgary before Boston.

Not only are Poitras and Beecher roster players, they are young assets too! Then you add in Bostons first, making it almost impossible for them to be able to make any other trades to fill the holes left by this..
Not a good trade for the Bruins imo.</div></div>
Over pay by Boston.
Two young centers plus a first.

Not enough from Boston.
( Trying to make a trade for the Bruins work is nearly impossible. They are stuck with not enough assets to give away and not enough cap room to fit anyone in.)

I couldn’t get the numbers to work out, but this is the general idea: Two highly rated Bruins prospects Grizz as a cap casualty, for more scoring punch and back end upgrade on D.

That’s being a little petty… Boston is the hub of the universe. Bottom line, I don’t think he fits the profile of what Boston needs in the playoffs. Speedy little guy getting knocked off the puck doesn’t help against Carolina or Florida.

What is Poitras’ ceiling comparison?
He gives me a Jordan Eberle, Ryan Donato vibe more than a Mason McTavish or Mitch Marner. The Bruins should be all in this year and next. If they have to sell their future now, they should.
Or ride it out and lose in the 2nd round…

This package probably works for someone like the New York Rangers, Carolina, Florida or Devils who have assets.
