Replace Lysell with Lohrei and Calgary might agree to take Grzelcyk. Calgary probably won't include Greer either and almost certainly won't agree to retain on 3 players in one deal like this.

Calgary hasn't retained salary on any of the 3 players (Toffoli, Zadorov, Lindholm) they've traded so far. This proposal has max retention on 3 players, that's not happening. Maybe you get retention on Hanifin but that's it, Backlund is under contract for 2 more seasons after this one and retention on Greer's already dirt cheap 762.5k contract would be a complete waste of a valuable retention slot.

However I did get mixed up about one thing. I thought Grzelcyk had 2 or 3 years left on his contract but he's actually UFA this summer so taking his contract wouldn't be much of a problem.

This is a pipe dream that will/should never happen!!
Lindholm was a good trade 1 asset for 5. This is garbage sorry!!! All the players sent Cal way are not what they need minus Lysell so build off that guy and see what people say

Actually Poitras fits Calgary's needs better than Lysell. He's a right shot forward too but is a bit bigger, plays center and works a whole lot harder. Lohrei fits Calgary's needs better too which is why I said to replace Lysell with him. Left shot center Boqvist is a decent extra piece too.

The big problem with this proposal is all that retention, especially on Backlund. Conroy has been going out of his way to NOT retain salary or take on a bad contract. He could have gotten more for Zadorov and Lindholm, probably Toffoli too if he'd been willing to retain salary or take on a bad contract (a short term one that is). Then again he still has all three retention slots available to use on other players.

My guess is Tanev, Hanifin and Markstrom will all be traded before the deadline. Backlund would probably welcome a move by now too and almost certainly if those 3 are gone.

I liked your take. I’ll revise the trade. Salary retention was just to make the cap compliant. Otherwise there’s no room to fit the players in. Bruins have nothing in the cupboard.

There aren't many centers that can play in the NHL as teenagers, even fewer that can do it for good teams. calgary figures out the retention issue. it can easily be ditched on greer,

if you're trading poitras, just stop and don't hit publish. there's no way for that to work for both teams.

What is Poitras’ ceiling comparison?
He gives me a Jordan Eberle, Ryan Donato vibe more than a Mason McTavish or Mitch Marner. The Bruins should be all in this year and next. If they have to sell their future now, they should.
Or ride it out and lose in the 2nd round…

this is just ridiculously over simplistic, and relatively incoherent.
