If he has term I think the return from pit would look like this plus POJ. But I’m not sure what he’s asking for so the pens might be able to sign him

You’d be right. In fact he has more points in the last 2 games than Kapanen has shots in 2022 let alone points. It is embarrassing

It’s the term. Burke/Hextall won’t want to give him more than 2-3 seasons. Letang wants 5 years I bet and can get it elsewhere. Letang has said numerous times “he feels he can play forever” . Hextall/Burke have said numerous times, they want to rebuild and get “their type of players” into the organization. They won’t give him 5 years.
PO-J is for sure ready and capable to take 3rd pairing Minutes.</div></div>
Crap my bad, when I mentioned less than 7m I meant malkin but ya Letang asks for north of 8Ms

Next Year If Malkin Leaves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>It just scares me Letang making sure he plays a full season this season; playing through nicks and bruises he normally probably wouldn’t. In a contract year. Seems like a player that is looking to cash in to me.
If they don’t try and move one of Matheson/Pettersson this offseason; they are crazy. U can’t pay three LHD 4M plus. And Pens have two legit 2nd pairing LHD right now. With both playing well and what D-man in their prime are getting paid nowadays, it would be stupid not to move one. Moving one would allow them to keep all 3.
Even if you have to add some draft capital for a team to take one. Or add Kappy to sweeten a deal. Especially with PO-j, NHL ready and more than capable of taking on 3rd pairing minutes. And he’s on a Entry level deal.
Moving Matheson or Pettersson would allow them to sign all 3 and safely still be under the cap and be able to go out and sign acouple medium-low priced FA’s.</div></div>
ya if they can move one or multiple of matheson/petty/zucker that'd be huge in resigning malkin, rust and letang. especially if letang is serious about taking less than sid and maybe even just under 7. POJ appears to be NHL ready but Yohe reported that this management group isn't very high on him so maybe that's why they don't appear to be shopping any dmen? signing all 3 tho would be a huge W and maybe re tooling the middle six to help geno out would be solid (maybe boeser)

Next Year If Malkin Leaves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>I agree. It scares me that Letang has played through injuries this season and is making sure he plays a full season. In his contract year. And he will probably be top 3-5 in Norris voting this season too.
And Letang has made the comment numerous times that he “thinks he can play forever”. And Burke and Hextall disagree. They would want Letang for 2-3 seasons at 7M-8M. I think thats the highest they go.
I think he’ll get atleast a 5 year deal somewhere else. And Pens sign Geno and Rust. Geno signs 2 years at 7.5M. Rust signs 6M for 5 years; 30M contract.
Geno has said numerous times he’s not worried about money. That he’s a rich man. And that he wants to play 1-2 years and retire in Russia.
That’s perfect for Burke/Hextall. A two year deal. Cause they want to rebuild with “their type of players”.
And now with no Mario and Burkle, and the Fenway group, they will listen to Burke/Hextall and not the fans. Sh*t, the Fenway group traded M.Betts from the RedSox. Homegrown/fan favorite player.
And Sid has also said numerous times he took less and a home team discount and it doesn’t work unless everyone else takes less too. Referring to Geno, Letang, Rust. I think Rust knows what he’s got playing on a line with Sid and will take the 6M for 5-6 years. Hyman got 5.5M for 7 seasons.</div></div>
i agree with this. letang is extremely valuable even with all his mental mistakes and his outbursts here and there. it ultimately comes down to who they think is more valuable to them competing in the next couple years, imo letang is vital to their success and they should do everything in their power to keep him but obviously theres a limit on him at his age. id love keeping rust because of what hes become with sid/guentzel

I think Letang leaving is more of a possibility because of the whole Montreal thing. But ik this is an IF scenario and that wheeler deal is a massive overpay. You could get JT miller with that tbh

U win cups by adapting. Not every player plays the same way but u have to sacrifice things to win. He has tons of potential which is why trading him at this point makes sense

Boeser
If that is all that it took to get Boeser I think that it would already have been done.
Sullivan has done his best to ruin Kapanen, the Pens don't seem high on Joseph, and a 2nd. From coaching point of view Boeser would basically be free, from management it is a just 2nd.[/quote]
The second can become a first. Kapanen has been playing top 6 mins all season long. Even right when he’s been horrendous on both sides of the puck he’s still seeing top 6 mins. Sullivan definitely hasn’t ruined him

That’s why I just think they need one winger for geno. Zucker hasn’t been that bad this this with him and heinen has been good so either works. They just need to get someone who can finish

trading one of our goalie prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan89</b></div><div>I’d say the Dallas trade is good, the Seattle trade is unnecessary. Soucy is a LD and Sully really only does the Lefty-righty pairings unless injuries force his hand. And being Friedman plays both sides and is really solid I’d think ZAR would be more valuable to the pens being our most physical forward and player honestly.
I think if you switched the ducks trade to Blomqvist and Kapanen, maybe even added a mid-late pick or Legare to the deal might get it done for both sides.
Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Zucker-Malkin-Rakell
Heinen-Carter-ERod
ZAR-Blueger-McGinn
That’s a really dangerous playoff lineup. Maybe they can get a another middle 6 winger somewhere in there too</div></div>
Just now we realize how important zucker is, he’s willing to go into the dirty areas and is a hard forechecker, which opens up space for geno. I love that top + reuniting that 4th line. My only question is if erod can regain some of his production and if Carter can pitch in on offence plus serve as a solid defensive line. If they’re firing on all cylinders and jarry can be who he’s been, i see good things coming
