Penguins do that in a heartbeat, Carter on the other hand probably says no. (he has a full-NMC)

Yeah, but still better than Reaves or Maroon for example points wise. And would be super annoying to play against lol but yeah the goalie and defense situation is pretty bad.

He's certainly expendable this year. Probably don't need to worry about a waiver claim, but if you do send him down and he gets claimed then you have plenty of other options to fill that role.

Opening Night Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yenzer</b></div><div>One of the things that I love about what Dubas has done is add enough depth to create competition. Seems like people are high on Nylander, but he's going to be pushed by Hinostroza and Johnsson, Poulin, and Zohorna. It will be interesting to see Smith and POJ compete, but I think Butcher is a dark horse to win that spot as well. There's also several guys who might be vying for that top six role while Jake is out. This is all so different from last year.
It will also be interesting to see how the PP shakes out. I for one hope they don't take Rakell off the top unit.</div></div>
Yeah there definitely will be a lot of internal competition for bottom 6 spots. I'm interested to see how Poulin does. I hope he wins the spot, but if not then I hope somebody shows something promising, whether that's just some chemistry or play driving.
And as for the PP situation, I agree. I want them to let Letang run his own PP and put Rakell on PP1. I mean just imagine you're the opposing team fending off Sid, Geno, and EK65 for 1:15-30 then you have to deal with Letang, R. Smith, and Rust or whoever on PP2. PP2 might score more than PP1 just because they get the easier matchups. You could even switch it up and roll out PP2 to start lol and let PP1 clean up the scraps if they don't score. We have a lot of good options when it comes to the PP this year.

You're correct, it just automatically put him on LTIR and I forgot to take him off.

I don't like only having 21 players on the roster, but I don't even know how one would fix that. Trading Carter isn't really an option with his Full-NMC unless Dubas and co. can talk him into it lol

Honestly, my guess is that he has been talking to a team and waiting for something to be done by said team, to make room or finish a deal. Maybe it was the Karlsson deal or maybe it's still something else that is yet to happen by another team. But if it were the Karlsson deal then I would think another move needs to be made. Because I do agree he will get something in the region of 1.5 - 2 million. But NHL players are weird, he could be willing to play on a team for dirt cheap.

I think regarding the possible Karlsson trade, it will be more than the Burns return but not by much. I think when/IF the trade goes through everyone will be surprised at the return. Don't flame me, but I could see something close to this: Karlsson (35-40% retained) for Petry, Blomqvist, Poulin, a conditional 2nd (turns into 1st if the Pens make the ECF in the next two years) and a 3rd rounder. Honestly, it could be even less than that, but who knows, that's just my opinion.

Leafs Situation
The only player out of the 3 (Jarnkrok, Murray, or Lafferty) that I could see coming to Pittsburgh would be Jarnkrok. I think Murray was a failed experiment for Dubas. And Lafferty was just extra depth and a throw in during the McCabe negotiations. Jarnkrok could be good, but I don't think that will happen because of his cap hit and we have other holes to fill i.e. defense, and hopefully a legit 3C. even though Dubas made it sound like Eller will be that...

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I have a feeling the return for EK65 will be less than most people think. Only time will tell.

That's way too much for the Pens to give up. Make that 1st a 2nd, and Pens consider it. Probably will also have to take out Poulin. (haha)

I understand the thought process, but I think the pens should just keep their second - trade for Sharangovich themselves and either buy out granlund or figure out a different way to trade him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pens1991</b></div><div>meh, I don't know, i get you're selling high on Toffoli given the year he just had, but the penguins got Rikard Rakell (younger player) for a 2nd, two 4th liners and a meh prospect + Ducks retained 35% who's typically been a 40-50 point per year player in his career similar to Toffoli.
I'd be willing to do it for a 2nd and someone like Legare, or Calgary retains 50% for that 1st lol. Otherwise pass.</div></div>
I don't even think I'd give up the 1st for 50% retained. Like you said a 2nd and a prospect is the best offer. I wouldn't mind Toffoli but I don't think he has a real significant role here. We need good bottom 6 players, not older top 6 guys. I would rather spend that 1st on a top pair/ top 4 D or a goalie

the 2023 draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pens1991</b></div><div>Eh, i think a pass from the penguins.. I don't know enough about Harris, but as stands he'd be third pair.
Tuch and Ylonen aren't NHL ready yet, and not really sure i have interest in Gurianov.
IMO if the penguins are going to give up the 14OA this year it needs to be for someone that's slotting into Top 4 D or Top 6 Forward (or goalie) otherwise i'm not moving it.</div></div>
I like Ylonen and I think he is NHL ready, but everyone else I don't really have interest in. I think if we were to trade down in the draft it would have to start with a 1st round pick that's a little lower, 2nd rounder, 4th (or decent prospect/roster player). Outside of that I'm not really interested.

I would love Ross Colton, but I think it'll need to be just a little bit more. Like someone said POJ or Smith maybe? Or change the 3rd to a 2nd in my opinion. I don't think Tampa has the cap space to sign him...I could be wrong though. So he would be a welcome addition to the bottom 6!

The 2023 1st would not be included in that Buffalo trade. Neither player is worth 14OA. Maybe if you did a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
