<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PittsburghBob69</b></div><div>I guess you guys will find out next week after his arbitration hearing. I believe it’s next week. You can google what date was set. Toronto’s offer sheet for Dermott was 895k. I doubt he nickels and dimes them to 1M. He’ll just sign it, he has no leverage. He can’t sign anywhere else unless someone offers him and hes not arbitration eligible. And if he gets offered 1.395M or above from another team, Toronto let’s him walk and takes the 3rd round pick compensation.</div></div>
895 to 1 million is about 13%. I wouldn't call that nickel and diming. If he made 5 mil that's about the difference between 5 mil and 5.65 mil
Or for us non athlete plebes the difference between say 60 thousand a year and 67.5 thousand or so. Doesn't sound like nickel and diming to me.
If they were arguing between 4.895 and 5 million it's a different story

Heiskanen has more potential but ask Alexandre Daigle, Luke Schenn, Victor Mete. That can all change fast. SO both teams Decline but the trade favors Dallas</div></div>
Did you guys see him in the playoffs? If Dallas won the cup he'd get the Conn Smythe. He's better than Rielly and better than most defensemen in the league. Rielly's still good though.

Well they put Guentzel with Crosby for the qualifiers. I wouldn’t doubt they try both in camp. ERod and Sceviour are pretty interchangeable. I only put him on the 3rd line because he played on McCann’s line in Florida and they worked. So I wouldn’t doubt they try it.

Don't worry your very valid and logical points aren't lost on all of us leaf fans. You are 100% correct and if barabanov don't like it he can go back to Russia as we have more than enough depth.

Has he even scored 20 goals in a season yet?</div></div>
He has one 22 goals season and one 35 goals season. Was on pace for 27 if he didn't get injured in 19-20.

How To Be Currently Compliant
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PittsburghBob69</b></div><div>I like it!! The most reasonable and best post I’ve seen by a Leafs fan in a while. The leafs offered Dermott 895k already. He might sign that offer sheet. He might not even nickel and dime them up to 1M/yr. If another team offers him 1.395M or above, they have to give up a 3rd round Pick as compensation. And the Leafs would 100% take that 3rd round pick and let him walk then.
Every other posts has Barabnov starting too. It’s hard for me to imagine two 1st year, Russian players coming in and starting on A contenting, play-off team. That’s a lot to ask. Especially since Mikheyev is a lot bigger than Lehtonen and Barabnov. Barabanov especially is smaller. And both play the Russian way. Soft and fast. With the bigger Ice RInk in Russia. It usually takes some time for them to adjust to the NHL game, the smaller rink, is a huge difference, but isn’t even the biggest difference. And plus, getting accustomed to everything off the Ice too. Like I said, that’s just a lot of faith to have in two 1st year guys that have never played a play in the NHL yet. So, I like you just having Lehtonen on your 3rd defensive pairing. Seeing he’s the better of the 2 players anyways. Atleast the more highly touted. I guess we will see who is better..lol.</div></div>
Now watch me get roasted by Leaf Fans. lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PittsburghBob69</b></div><div>I can see Robertson playing the LW on the 2nd line and Mikheyev playing on that 3rd line LW and Vesey on the 4th line LW. Toronto definitely needs that entry-level contract of a young play-making forward.</div></div>
I mean he's not a play-making forward. Small guy who's fast, plays hard, and is a pure goal scorer. 55 goals in 46 games in the OHL last year. But I agree with what you are saying. Though I do think Mikheyev starts on 2nd line and Robertson on 3rd but we'll see. So much competition on the Leafs depth chart this year that really anything can happen.

Pens trade Letang
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PittsburghBob69</b></div><div>Letang is 34 years old and scored 15 goals and had 29 assists and 44points in 61 games last year. And 25 minutes of ice time a game. When will Pesce ever do that? That’s Letang, last year, at 33.
U want to know what 32 years old was? 16 goals, 40 assists 56 points in 65 games, 25:58 ice time, plus/minus +13..good luck Pesce..never in his life. Not when he was 18 in High School.</div></div>
I am 100% on your side. Pesce is Mike Komisarek, great in his current situation but put him in a high event system and he'll be a tire fire because he doesn't have the skill to make up for a system that leaves him alone at times. I am so sick of seeing Pesce for a star player trade on this site.

Pesce is the most overrated player on this site. Hes a good player sure but hes a secondary player. He is best when he has a top player to play with. Hes had the luxury of playing with better defenceman in a system that benefits his playing style. On his own? Hes a 2nd pair defenceman. Letang is still a top pair guy, not a terrific one but a good one still.

Easy Team to figure out
Yeah our D has a bunch of question marks around it right now and I don't know how the mgmt team views the depth chart. We have zero top tier dmen, 3 really nice second pairing guys, and like 7 3rd pairing guys. I think they have to play the young guys, but it's still going to be musical chairs. wondering if they are better to ship one off in a trade. Sandin and Liljegren are both a year deep into their ELCs already... I don't know that they are finished moving things around this off season.
