Thread: Dumo amp kap for Boeser
A 1st round pick has a 37% chance to play in the NHL more than 99 games.... And that's after 4 years in the minors... A 2nd round 17%.... I know you guys probably think that it's a low ball for boeser and if this trade was done 2-3 years ago that would be true... But given his current production and injury history his value is at an all time low .. if you do some research and take a look at what hockey trades look like in real life this is absolutely realistic and would be a best case scenario for Vancouver... He's not even on pace for 20 goals this season @ 6.5 mil!!!

Now if he's playing with 87 or 71 he can get 30 after the deadline

Nobody wants boeser because of his albatross of a contract and unless you get a top 5 pick for him (which would never happen even in his prime years) a DP wouldn't likely play more than 99 games for Vancouver and that's 4 years from now... dumo and kap are proven NHL players and will play more than 99 games for Vancouver definitely kap with his current contract and dumo if resigned at a lower hit...

I wish the pens could trade kapanen for PK88 with 3.5 retained but that's not realistic... Nobody sends their bad players for someone's good players and rides into the sunset... There's a lot more to trades than just numbers... There's locker room presence, injury history, relationships with management, location etc on top of getting out of bad contracts....

BBs trade at this point is a dump if it's being reported Van is willing to include DPs and receive an expiring contract to make a trade

The main value in this trade for Van is $4.1mil in cap space for 23-24 and $3.2mil 25-26... That's worth more than DPs unless it's a top 10 or above or 2 top 15s and no way you get 2 top 15s for boeser...cap space in this era with the flat cap and the uncertainty if it's going up 1.5 or 4.5 next season while UFA Contracts going up in price each season makes CAP space for proven NHL talent worth more than ever before

They Are simply trying to get out of boesers contract at this point and imagine how solid the left side would be with dumo locked in at 3rd LD w the ability to move up during injury... Plus they are both JRs guys he drafted dumo in Carolina and kap in pit

If this was NHL23 there would be a 1st &amp; 2nd included but in reality nobody wants boeser with all the injury history and term on that 6.5 contract... Vancouver freeing up space is their DP.... Now say if Vancouver retains 1.75+ a 1st or 2nd wouldn't be out of the question if boeser goes from 6.5 to 4.75 for 5 years no doubt it would be worth a 1st or 2nd+3rd

For just DPS what is BB worth right now a 2nd &amp; 3rd? ... Do you think a 2nd &amp; 3rd will give you as much value as kapanen or kapanen &amp; dumo on a new contract? Even a pit 1st won't start as many games statistically as dumo will play for Van after the deadline even if he doesn't resign

you gotta understand Jim Rutherford LOVES kap and dumo (he drafted both dumo in Carolina and kap in pit) also they're trying to get out of the term with Boeser which is where kapanen comes in who has potential to be a lower end boeser pure shooter type of player, if not he only has 2 years left... And Vancouver is looking for a defensive dman in return for boeser which is achieved by getting dumo... Basically nobody wants boeser and Van isn't looking for futures and would rather have proven nhl talent... They get a young forward in kap and DD w Dumo... Only problem is Dumo has a NTC... And even though Van is getting an extra 600k they effectively gain 4.1 in cap space for 23-24 when dumo comes off the books...also BBs value is so low that the Canucks gave permission to his agent to negotiate a trade because theyve had no luck at all

But would the money work? PETRY is only on LTIR for 4-6 weeks so when he comes off unless he's injured until the playoffs his cap would also come back.... We would have to get rid of dumo and kap in any trade for Kane or boeser... But hell... If we could move kap and dumo... Call up Ty Smith... Find a way to resign Kane, jarry, blueger &amp; Smith if the cap is increased by 4.5 for 23-24 as predicted then I'd be all for trading away poulin and a 1st... Getting Kane at the deadline or midway through the season would be a lot of pressure to win a cup while having a rather soft and young defense and lack of goalie depth... So I would feel alot better if Kane extended even on a 1-2 year deal... I think Kane would be open to being in PGH as well considering we're only 5hr or less drive from buffalo so he would be very close to family and 4hr or less if he lived in cranberry where the training facility is... But a straight up trade as put forth I don't believe would be feasible capwise long-term because of JPetry
