Dumo amp kap for Boeser

Created by: Pixburghvin
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 18, 2022
Published: Dec. 18, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is what a realistic boeser trade would look like and I don't think it's a bad idea, it gives a viable scoring threat for the 3rd line when fully healthy and a great top 6 wing option if any injuries arise such as the oft injured Zucker, throw rust on LW put boeser on Rw with Malkin at C and also we have a 26yr old replacement for 30 year old Zucker next season. Also we can use Zucker's cap to resign jarry, blueger and ty Smith, only way I would keep Zucker is If the cap increases by 4+ mil as rumored + a pay cut for lower term and the 3rd line has great chemistry while he his healthy whether he or boeser play on it

Could see several teams beat that offer with a combo of picks and good prospects.

Why does VAN want Dumoulin though?
Quinn Hughes & OEL are locked in as their top LH guys

Maybe if Dumoulin wasn’t a rental,
but I think they’d rather have a draft pick

Maybe Kapanen, but definitely not Dumoulin.

The Canucks are actively looking for a defensive dman for boeser and Kap & Dumo we're both drafted by Jim Rutherford, so even If the fan base isn't interested JR surely would be, he loves "his" guys trust me as a life long pens fan I know who's running your team and he would jump to get out of the next 5 years and save 4.1 mil on boeser if dumo doesn't resign and keep kap who has scored more goals this season than boeser in less games during a cold streak with a 3.2 contract for 2 seasons

They Are simply trying to get out of boesers contract at this point and imagine how solid the left side would be with dumo locked in at 3rd LD w the ability to move up during injury... Plus they are both JRs guys he drafted dumo in Carolina and kap in pit

If this was NHL23 there would be a 1st & 2nd included but in reality nobody wants boeser with all the injury history and term on that 6.5 contract... Vancouver freeing up space is their DP.... Now say if Vancouver retains 1.75+ a 1st or 2nd wouldn't be out of the question if boeser goes from 6.5 to 4.75 for 5 years no doubt it would be worth a 1st or 2nd+3rd

CBJ traded Bjorkstrand for a 3rd & 4th to Seattle

For just DPS what is BB worth right now a 2nd & 3rd? ... Do you think a 2nd & 3rd will give you as much value as kapanen or kapanen & dumo on a new contract? Even a pit 1st won't start as many games statistically as dumo will play for Van after the deadline even if he doesn't resign

Dumoulin is a rental though
So the value he provides in this trade isn’t much

Boeser isn’t a Cap dump
They could trade him for a better return than a 3rd liner & a 3rd pair rental

A 1st round pick has a 37% chance to play in the NHL more than 99 games.... And that's after 4 years in the minors... A 2nd round 17%.... I know you guys probably think that it's a low ball for boeser and if this trade was done 2-3 years ago that would be true... But given his current production and injury history his value is at an all time low .. if you do some research and take a look at what hockey trades look like in real life this is absolutely realistic and would be a best case scenario for Vancouver... He's not even on pace for 20 goals this season @ 6.5 mil!!!

Now if he's playing with 87 or 71 he can get 30 after the deadline

Nobody wants boeser because of his albatross of a contract and unless you get a top 5 pick for him (which would never happen even in his prime years) a DP wouldn't likely play more than 99 games for Vancouver and that's 4 years from now... dumo and kap are proven NHL players and will play more than 99 games for Vancouver definitely kap with his current contract and dumo if resigned at a lower hit...

I wish the pens could trade kapanen for PK88 with 3.5 retained but that's not realistic... Nobody sends their bad players for someone's good players and rides into the sunset... There's a lot more to trades than just numbers... There's locker room presence, injury history, relationships with management, location etc on top of getting out of bad contracts....

BBs trade at this point is a dump if it's being reported Van is willing to include DPs and receive an expiring contract to make a trade

The main value in this trade for Van is $4.1mil in cap space for 23-24 and $3.2mil 25-26... That's worth more than DPs unless it's a top 10 or above or 2 top 15s and no way you get 2 top 15s for boeser...cap space in this era with the flat cap and the uncertainty if it's going up 1.5 or 4.5 next season while UFA Contracts going up in price each season makes CAP space for proven NHL talent worth more than ever before

This is actually right in the scope of a Boeser trade I see happening. Maybe not this exact trade but certainly something like it. I don’t see teams lining up to swap promising young players or high draft picks for a streaky scorer that’s getting paid like a star player for multiple years.

Vancouver will be fortunate if anybody steps up and offers something of value.

I would compare a Boeser trade return to Josh Anderson’s. Hell, maybe they get traded for each other.
