<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnyoneButTheBruins</b></div><div>Thank YOU!!! Everyone is saying sign Krug! SIGN KRUG! WHY!?! He's good yes, but he will cost way too much and we will get all of the good years out of him when the red wings will still be bad. It makes no sense! Of course, everyone just wants him because he's a Michigan boy! So, lets overpay another Michigan boy and see how that works out. Abdelkader I'm looking at you.</div></div>
i mean i would be happy if the wings ended up getting Krug this offseason. But a lot of things would have to go right i think, (wings prospects showing promise, drafting Lafreniere, Bruins winning cup)
I just don't see it realistically happening. Id say the wings are 2-3 years away from making the playoffs and they'll be real contenders in 4-5 years. By that time, Krug is a little older but you always want a player who has been to the finals before and know what it takes to win.

If you do end up in 4th, is Askarov a lock? Who do you guys have coming up that could possibly be #1 in the future?</div></div>
picks 10-15 are about 1-3 years away from being NHL ready depending on the player. Askarov could come in quickly but im still weary on drafting a goalie so high. Wings have Larsson who had a great college year but has started slow in the AHL. Hes only 20 so he has time to figure it out. He has the skill to be a #1

I think Id still take Lafreniere. AA and Veleno can both slide into the 2nd line center spot. AA isnt the best center option, but playing him with a guy like Lafreniere is almost like sheltering him. It could make a great line with either Lafreniere or Byfield. But overall Lafreniere is the better player so i take him

I still believe Zadina can be a 30-40 goal scorer in the NHL. Hes been finding his game in GR and makes elite plays down there. Still young, still learning, his time will come.
Ive seen Raymond compared to Mitch Marner a lot and if he can be that and drive that 2nd line, they would be hard to stop.
as for a coach im kinda split on that. Blashill has won at every level and our guys have gotten better every year i think hes done a good job helping develop them, however there are stretches where i think "what the hell is he doing." I like him and hate him at the same time

No way does Athanasiou get more than he does, especially a million more. If Bertuzzi keeps this pace all year, we are looking closer to the 6 x 5 range, somewhere in there.</div></div>
bertuzzi is a great player, but i don't think he's in the range of 6 million. until we see him on a different line away from Larkin, its hard to judge where he really his. That line works so well but i think theyd do just as well without him on the line. I could see him breaking into 5 mil. Hes just not a driver like Larkin or Mantha

Filip Larsson in GR seems to be making his way to being the future starter in about 2-3 years. Id just wait it out with this duo for another year since the team will still be bad with good goalie or not. once their contracts expire, go with Larsson as backup for his first year and find a fringe starter as a placeholder until Larsson takes over the job. Dont see the need to spend the money now when I have 4 guys on entry level contracts who expire at the end of the year

yeah, i exaggerated on the youth a bit. Wouldnt be surprised though if Veleno and possibly Seider have good camps and make it due to injuries to vets. They both looked great in the prospects Tourney.

Holland is the best GM change my mind
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>I feel the need to bring balance to the force in this retort even though I don't agree at all with the AGM title.
Detroit since salary cap implemented:
13 seasons - 1 Stanley cup, 10 playoff appearances , passed the 1st round of the playoffs 6 times.
Calgary since salary cap implemented:
13 seasons - 0 Stanley cups, 7 playoff appearances, one single time past 1st round.
I know Detroit gets a lot of flack for putting together a colossal nightmare cap wise these past couple years but since the cap was implemented they've been a powerhouse and one of the best teams in the league for a long long time. I think peoples recency bias is showing when it comes to Detroit.
PS. I'm not a Wings fan in the slightest.</div></div>
Detroit was carried by Yzerman, Fedorov, and Lidstrom. Then as they stepped out, It was Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom. All players were drafted by Jimmy Devellano. He completely built that team from the ground up and Holland rode the wave of franchise players until they couldnt play any longer.

Risto was a -41, worst in the whole league. The next closest defenseman on the Sabres was Dahlin at -13. Plus/minus becomes relevant when you have a 30 point gap between players.

you cant lottery protect them. my thought process was if we somehow pull off getting marner and we know this team will start getting better with the guys it has in the system, wings will start picking 10-20 range, out of those four 1st round picks, how many could become a 100 point player? probably none. although it probably is better to have that kind of depth throughout. idk, would be interesting to see how it would play out.

Good Point. Karlsson is one of the best, but they really need to fill out the Top 4. And perhaps there is a cheaper goalie. Talbot played well in the playoffs for the Oilers but kind of played bad last year. goalies are hard to predict
