Fresh outlookdown year
I doubt Boston accepts. It would be a good idea on paper to get a prospect with the ceiling of the next Bergeron as his replacement, but along with the doubts of whether he can reach that ceiling, I don't think Swayman and a 1st would be a fair price for him. Swayman is probably going to end up a consistent top 6-10 best goalie in the league, and to pair him with a 1st for a guy who hasn't played a full NHL season and a cap dump of a goalie in Driedger probably isn't the best way of improving your team.
On Seattle's end, I don't know if they'd accept simply because their center position is really in no man's land. Beniers will definitely be a solid 1c (he pretty much is already) but he probably can't be the only high end center option on an actual contender, and other than Gourde at 3c, the rest is pretty subpar, with Wennberg 2c and Bellmare 4c. Seattle probably won't look to give up their best prospect who also play a position of need, though I still do think they accept the trade because they bring in a young guy who plays another position of need, being a goalie.
TL;DR This trade is definitely good on account of it answering a position of question for both teams, the main issue is that it creates new problems for both teams in the process. If you're looking for a good center prospect and a goalie for Swayman, maybe Arizona's Vejmelka and C. Geekie for Swayman, Poitras and a 3rd could work, or San Jose's Eklund and Kahkonen or Blackwood for a similar return?

Seattle has a few too many wingers right now, but also Schwartz's deal is kinda bad. It's not like a bottom 10 contract in the league or anything, its just that 5.5 mil for 3 more years going to a 31 year old when you have guys like Beniers and other expiring deals to sign isn't the best. And for Seattle's LW they have to find ice time for Kartye, (leafs legend) McCann, and Tolvanen in the top 9.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Reinhart fan and would definitely love him on the Habs, but that contract is... a bit much. Also idk if its a hot take to prefer Dach on the top RW spot for now, but it seems to be more popular for him at the 2c, which I'm not a big fan of after how the Caufield-Suzuki-Dach line preformed together last season. Still a solid team, if Montreal takes their time they'll be a top team in the Atlantic in no time

Too many wingers
I agree entirely that the wing is a bit clogged, and see that the left side is the main concern for congestion issues. As a Schwartz hater, I wonder if he's on the chopping block because of his contract price and term as well as the fact that his roster spot is in really high demand for the team. IMO the best options are 1, what u mentioned above with Kartye being sent down, or 2, Schwartz buyout/trade.
I'd wanna see something like this if Schwartz is bought out/traded:
Kartye-Beniers-Burakovsky
McCann-Wright/Wennberg-Eberle
Tolvanen-Gourde-Bjorkstrand
Tanev-Bellmare/Wennberg-Yamamoto
Great ACGM team tho. Spot on with the main roster issue

How about Burakovsky, Goyette, and a 4th? I like Tolvanen where he is now and cat probably replaces Burakovsky in the top 6 wing role he's been in anyways. I'm thinking of a top 6 like this short term:
Kartye-Beniers-Eberle
McCann-Wennberg/Wright-Debrincat
Cat could be promoted to top line if he fits or when Eberle regresses and one of Firkus, Tolvanen, or Bjorkstrand come up to the other spot. I also think Seattle would be open to moving Schwartz though I doubt there's interest.

Who will we dump
Seattle probably wouldn't take that much of a downgrade to their wing for a 2nd and a 3rd. Bjorkstrand is a very valuable top 9 winger to Seattle right now and is an important part of one of the best 3rd lines in the league right now, and they aren't in desperate need of picks any time soon with their incredibly fleshed out prospect pool despite only existing for 3 drafts to this point. It's definitely not like Seattle wouldn't take a cap dump, but they'll definitely want to force a massive overpay of assets.
Probably a guy like Iorio and a mid round pick along side Mantha might still too little for Bjorkstrand (not because the value isn't there, but because the caps have no leverage)

I feel like if Ullmark is traded, it's for cap reasons, so adding Murrey at no retention makes very little sense in that case. I'm sure other teams could look into something like this tho, like if the Ducks replace Gibson or if Detroit has money to throw at a project goalie that isn't Nedeljkovic. Even the pens might look at a reunification with Dubas in town.

What Do Leafs Fans Think
My timbers are shivered looking at that goalie core. 2 young guys without established starter qualifications and Greiss is... something. If you're buying out Murray you might as well sign Sammy to be his replacement instead of trading him. OEL-Schultz also will definitely test the goalies to say the least. I love the top 4 D and the forward core looks good aside from a few line tweaks. I'd look at something like
Knies-Matthews-Willy
Jarnkrok-JT-Marner
Domi-Acciari-Olofsson
Lafferty-Mcleod-Sprong
TL;DR, Forwards are good, Defense is solid aside from bottom pair, and goalies are unproven, but that hasn't stopped us in the past... right? All around solid ACGM team.

I agree its possible to see regression, I don't typically like adding guys with a 3 to start their age either, but it's not impossible for him to not regress, and as mentioned above, he just put up career highs playing mostly with Backlund and Mangiapane, I wouldn't be surprised if he improved beside Matthews or Tavares.

I will think twice before I post with you, a bonafide NHL insider, and wasting your time goodness gracious</div></div>
ok, first of all, dont take things personally, if I sounded condescending or anything along those lines, I apologize, I'm not out here to call anyone stupid, and its not like I have the best track record of valid opinions, but that doesnt mean I cant HAVE opinions. I dont know whos on Driedgers no trade list, but I still like to make the assumption just in case. Also, sure Buffalo is in the market for a RHD, but i feel if they have a guy in the org who's identical in play style, they wouldnt want him.
Again, I'm sorry if I worded my comment in a way that came across as stuck up, sarcastic, or egotistical, that wasn't my aim.

Adding Wright
I think keeping Wright in the AHL most of the season is the best for his development, and having him on the 4th line isn't the direction to go. If Seattle does decide to bring him up, I think they'd trade Wennberg before, letting Gourde get 2C temporarily and Wright 3C until he proves he can play top line caliber. Also, moving to the other lineup choices, I doubt they put Mccann on the right side, and would just prefer to push him down to 4th line like they did in the playoffs. Do I agree with this? no, but unless they buy out Schwartz or keep Kartye down, Mccann 4th line is the only option
Forward lineup:
Kartye-Beniers-Eberle
Mccann-Gourde-Burakovsky
Eeli-Wright-Bjorky
Schwartz-Geekie-Tanev
Assuming Schwartz isn't bought out, this is probably the best possibility for the lines, Gourde gets pushed down if/when Wright's ready and Wennberg is 2C until Wright is ready for call up. In a perfect world, Schwartz gets traded for picks and either Lind or Sprong get bottom right wing Tanev moves to the left, but if that doesn't all happen, this is what I expect we'll see the team running with.

Buffalo doesn't really need Schultz, they already have Jokiharju who's younger and cheaper, and they're trying to trade him because he doesn't fit either. I think the isles are the best option for a Schultz landing spot if the team does decide to move him. Minnesota already has enough 2nd line centers in Hartman and Eriksson Ek, and Gaudreau and Steel fill out the bottom 6, so I doubt they're the best fit for him, Maybe Toronto if they cant keep O'Reilly or Carolina. I don't really like any trade any EK trades, but thats just a personal bias, and this one isn't bad, maybe another late pick for dumping Driedger, who probably doesn't waive his M-NTC, but other than that, it's alright.

Yegor for rental dman
If you can convince Seattle that Sharangovich is a 2C, you *might* get that done, but that also assumes Evans is NHL ready and Wright takes another year or two, so that Seattle can give him a prove it deal and flip Wennberg for assets. Also, I think Hanifin, Roy, and Tanev would cost more, and if you swing for Petry and Leddy, there's better uses of your cap and Sharangovich's RFA rights than overpriced rentals. If your looking for a rental D man to pick off, look for Boston trying to shed cap through its D core, and if they can't sign Yegor, just flip him for picks to a team looking to add project wingers, Dallas and Colorado seem like potential suiters

Seattle doesn't need to add wingers right now, unless there's a major injury, they would need to get rid of wingers, as guys like Kartye are just waiting for any roster spot at this point. Chicago I doubt they move a 2nd and 3rd for an RFA who won't be extended anyways, but I do see how they might feel a bit pressured to get immediate roster players for Bedard, but unless you push that 2nd to a future year, I don't think it goes through. Anaheim, their is space in their top 9, but as mentioned by another comment, you're kinda just swapping players for the scenary change that doesn't make the most sense. Of all of them, the Ducks I think are the most inclined to do this if the new contract isn't too long term or isn't too much money, and the Kraken make the least sense with their already excessive amount of wingers.</div></div>
I don't like to shoot down transactions without suggesting alternatives to think about, so if you're looking for teams I could see having a demand for him, I'd say Anaheim and Chicago for different returns, Buffalo if they want to add to their bottom 6, Dallas if the money works, (Hilariously) Arizona if it isn't for picks, and Winnipeg are all teams to look into.

I mean, they don't exactly have a lot of playable defense *cough myers and OEL cough* and their 3C is kinda open too, so they do have to be a bit active in FA, but I also wouldn't say your wrong for thinking spending 12 mil in FA for a middle 6 roster plug and 2 middle pairing D isn't exactly "conservative spending"

Also I think the Nucks could use the extra money to upgrade from Rodrigues to Compher (if COL doesn't extend him). Graves can get 5x5 Compher 4 to 4.5x4, which leaves u with like 3 mil to throw at a Hughes partner.

Getting Mccann instead of Zacha imo is better, and Idk but I think there'd be better value contracts than Laughton at 3 mil, so shaving cap on those 2 would help bolster the goaltending, pushing Thompson to backup and getting a better starter. I also think there's some recency bias for Verhaeghe and Marchessault, and though I'd be open to keeping the Conn Smyth winner around, there might be better ways of spending the 4+ mil Verhaeghe's getting.

Unless he injures himself this offseason, he'll be ready come next season, though you might need a 1B to back him up as he's definitely not known for being very durable. Great trade for the Jets to shed cap and the Kraken to get a stop gap until Evans joins the party.

I'm sure there are far better candidates for first line center that'll fit that role better than a guy who's right now a 3rd liner who alternates on the wing. I do like Reinhart to the Wild, I just don't think he's gonna be the guy to solve the 1C problem. Maybe looking into Miller with retention ofc, Lindholm if Calgary looks to move him, Hertl with retention, Scheifele, or Kuznetsov. I know not all these make the most sense considering some of these teams can't retain or might ask for an overpay, but I think their all better candidates than Reinhart for alternate 1C.

Sammy is an RFA, and I don't think he'll be getting more than Murray's current cap hit. Woll is as good if not better as Montembeault (though I admit its a smaller sample size), and moving Murray will be to open the necessary cap space to sign Sammy. Kallgren shouldn't be in this convo, he's a 4th string, but even then, worst case is he signs in Europe.
Also, imo, the Leafs shouldn't trade all their futures unless they can be certain of what their getting back. Sure, the Leafs have proven that they aren't afraid to test the goalie position with unproven talent and risky acquisitions, but they didn't pay futures for them, Murray came with picks, only costing future considerations, and Sammy was a 1 yr 1 mil FA signing, both guys (and 2 late picks) acquired without sending out 2 1sts, our 2nd best young left wing behind Knies, and Murray, who can be dumped with far safer methods.
Do the Leafs have so many goalies that we can't go out and try to acquire one? no, but should we go out and acquire one? also no, especially not one with media baggage after the WJ incident, and who is known for consistency problems, and we shouldn't invest the little draft capital we have for it.
