Devils - Canucks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil</b></div><div>This trade would be a big overpayment by the Devils. Gritsyuk is one of the best NHL affiliated prospects in the KHL and is making the Russian Olympic team at the age of 20. Walsh is the Devils best RD prospect, Stillman was a 1st round pick last year and is having a solid season.
Zacha+Foote+2nd would be a trade Devils would be comfortable doing, not anything much more than that</div></div>
Canucks are not necessarily in the market for a top-9 left forward, with Podkolzin, Hoglander, Pettersson, Horvat, Pearson, Motte, Miller (despite the latter two likely getting traded) so Zacha doesn't do it for me personally. I could swap Foote in for Gritsyuk but Garland is worth way more than what you are proposing on his own, and on top of that, I am proposing us taking on Tatar's contract so I would be hoping to get closer to my initial proposal than what you offered.
Thanks for the response though, love hearing feedback.

Is this enough nucks fans
I would say no to both as a Canucks fan. Not sold on Rosen or Poltapov just looking at their offensive numbers this season in their respective leagues (KHL/SHL) and Johnson is an LHD which isn't a need for us since we have Hughes - OEL - Rathbone for the foreseeable future.
I would hope Garland ultimately fetches more than that considering he is outperforming his contract in year one with four more to go.

Cool, thanks for the discussion! I am on the do not trade Garland trade as I feel we should build our next contention window around his contract from the 2023-24 season until the 2025-26 season, but we will see what JR decides to do.

Others that generally shouldn’t be considered on the table: Hughes, Hughes, Bratt, Hischier, Sharangovich, Holtz, Mercer, Hamilton, Severson, and Siegenthaler. Gritsyuk and Mukhamadulkin could be in there too.</div></div>
Fair enough! I was hopeful but if Mercer is off the table then I'll come up with a prospect-oriented return that I consider fair for Garland (as a Canucks fan albeit)

I don't necessarily consider 7 points in 23 SHL games doing "great" in Europe in my opinion. I think the Canucks should be retaining half JT's salary to get an improved return, making one of Schneider/Lundkvist non-negotiable, and getting 3-4 assets in total for Miller. Here is what I would like to see.
NYR Receive:
JT Miller (2,625,000 Retained)
Luke Schenn (100,000 Retained)
VAN Receive:
Nils Lundkvist
Vitali Kravtsov

Hi OP,
Garland is overplaying his contract and will be for the next four seasons so a significant return should be expected. Is Dawson Mercer untouchable in a trade like this? Canucks lack right-handed forwards so getting one back is paramount. Nathan Schnarr looks to have adapted well to the North American pro game so I'll leave him in there.
Thoughts?

Hi OP,
Garland is on a contract he is overplaying for the next four seasons, so the haul coming back would have to be bigger than the one JT Miller is going to get. I'm curious if you see Dawson Mercer as untouchable in a trade like this? We are losing one of our three right-handed forwards in this trade so getting one back would be paramount. I understand wanting to keep your first-round pick, so I'll take a second instead, but I need one more blue-chip prospect in this deal so I'll ask for Chase Stillman.
Thoughts?

Relative to the current lineup, Chychrun probably has a bigger positive impact than Miller for the leafs so that's fair. Canucks biggest need is at RD so I think Niemela would need to be included for sure to get Miller.

I read somewhere that Holl could be expendable because he's having a down season on a $2M salary but we could only take Ritchie if Leafs' fans value Holl's play over the cap space created by him leaving

Building Off Miller Returns to New York
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Lundkvist came in as a super-hyped Adam Fox-type dman. He's absolutely still young, and absolutely has a solid ceiling, but he's been pretty overwhelmed in his own zone while playing fairly sheltered minutes. Probably has a lot to do with jumping from Euro hockey to the NHL (Only 7 AHL games), but he's got a long way to go at this point.
With Kravtsov, I think you'll see people value him all over the board. He's producing reasonably well in the KHL, but it's not really the same game...I've seen people value him as if he's stil the 9th OA pick, and I've seen people value him like he's Lias Andersson. I honestly think it's somewhere in between.
I guess I just think there's a bit of shine that's worn off those two. They could absolutely both turn into extremely productive NHLers, but I think you can remove a lot of the question marks by changing that pick from 60thish OA to 25-32. At least you'd get the chance to pick your own prospect in case the other two fall off?</div></div>
Really appreciate that insightful write up, I think I misunderstood your initial post as saying Miller is only worth a 1st + one of lundkvist/Schneider but I was trying to argue that he’s probably worth lundkvist/Schneider + kravtsov + a first. Either way I’m intrigued to see how this all turns out for both teams, because when I attempted to do a 2022/23 for the rangers it was a tough situation to navigate.

Building Off Miller Returns to New York
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>I appreciate the response!
I guess I'd just see it as a loss from Vancouver's perspective...you're giving up a point per game guy that fills a major need in New York, and you're getting back a couple of prospects who have shown some serious warts early (Though they both still have solid ceilings), and a late 2nd. Your first major move as a new GM can absolutely not be a loss, and this has the *potential* to be. I feel like it's just too big of a question mark, I guess.
That being said, you're the Nucks fan, so if you're happy, cheers!</div></div>
Honestly, I initially had the NYR second as a straight first but wasn't absolutely sure on the value at all so I just made it conditional. What do you see as Lundkvist's negatives, because I haven't really seen him play but I know he got NHL time this season and he is a recent first-round pick? Same with Kravtsov, obviously he wasn't happy to be left off the NHL roster this season so he requested a trade and got loaned to the KHL, but aside from that are there gaping holes in his game?

Canucks might trade Motte so there would be an opening on the left for him after the deadline.

I base my ask on the fact that he is gonna be making 1/3 his value for two playoff runs and one full season. The Dumba vs Poolman part was more for the short-term vs long-term cap relief for each team to alleviate some cap space in their respect contention windows.

Depending on the extension that Greenway is looking for, in both AAV and term, he could be an interesting addition to the Canuck's core moving forward and make Jim Rutherford's job difficult if the Rangers submit a similar offer (2022 1st + Lundkvist + Othmann?).
