Another year of the retool
With the Canucks looking for a top six forward, what would we need to offer for Novak at the deadline? Unprotected 1st? Or Podkolzin plus a mid round pick?

Fair enough, it looks like NJ needs to restructure their third line with Haula. So Holtz and Kuz could both be moved into the middle six somewhere to reshuffle the lines now that McLeod will be missing time.

I’m sure they’ll try for a first, but it would be shocking if they got more than a 2nd or a decent prospect.

Fair enough, we’d definitely move Kuz. Who do you think the canes would realistically give up for him?

Tough trade partner just because we’d be looking to improve as well.
So unless we get Necas, Pesce or Skjei back I don’t know if there’s a deal that would work.

I think Podz straight up would be close. Don’t think I’d offer Hoggy unless we got a pick back as well.

Preds thoughts - Novak
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dickie_Dunn</b></div><div>So Canucks have one decent prospect at Center and you want to move him for Novak? Novak has 6 goals on the season, he's slight and injury prone. Does anyone do any research before offering up these gems?</div></div>
Same argument fans used for Shinkaruk, don't need to hold onto a prospect just because we don't have many in the system. Raty is a good prospect but Novak fits our window and is a really good, cheap player.

Canucks would add, I do think this type of deal is what theyd be looking for. Probably Garland with 950k retention and a prospect or day 2 pick.

What do we add
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>You can add a 2nd if not first round pick to Garland if you think the Hawks want him and will be sending a 3rd for him. If the Hawks take Garland, it will be as at the very best a slightly negative value and almost certainly not a positive one where you get even a 3rd back. Hawks are not trying to be competitve this season (look at their roster), have an overabundance of forwards as is, are not investing 5 million for 3 years they are likely to not be competing for almost all of, adding a diminutive wing when they already have Bedard, Reichel, Nazar, Moore penciled into the top 6/9 over the last couple of year of Gralnads deal. I am not suggesting Garland should not be worth a 3rd to someone (if they had cap space), he simply is not to the Hawks with where they are at in rebuilding.</div></div>
Sorry should’ve noted that the garland deal was for cap sake, not really what I was trying to discuss here

Fair! I think Hertls value has fallen a ton, I think teams that are more “win now” than the Canucks would have more interest in him than Vancouver would.

To move up to 11 the draft picks needed would usually be a high 2nd and another pick, so by taking back Garland and adding Fabbro we get the lower second, no extra pick and we add a 4th.
I think it’s fairly even (could swap Beauvillier in for Garland if the contract term is too much)
