kane is missing the first 2 months of the season and seems to be that he is likely returning to new york. he would only be able to return on a small contract and this is what it seems like to me. my opinion tho so its just my pov

But not adding toews.</div></div>
kane and toews were just for fun. i think only kane would resgin but riley nash and alex belzile are our last 2 spots imo

my thinking is based on the kings win now mentality and with byfield being your 4th best center it gives value where value is due. hes amazing and i think hes worth a lot so i added a lot of value

it was a long shot trade with a reunion between carter and kings with rangers being a middle man in a 3 way sense.

hes a guy that tampa knows and loves. i based this on the fact that the consensus feel that goodrow is a great middle 6 player but his contract hurts him a bit. the 25% retention brings him to 2.75 a year which is a fair value for his type of player and gives tampa the solid 3rd line all you can play gamer they need

He did not have great linemates until he found his grove with chytil and kakko. His ice time increase helped him but mostly for kakko he had the bad linemates

Trocheck is a bonofide 2nd line center not a good 3c. I disagree with your statement there. He would be the perfect compliment to Crosby and malkin and would make the center depth insane. However, I can agree with the cap space part and how it is your best asset (the pick)

Oel NYR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>Lindgren was a very serviceable backup last year on a great value contract for 2 more years. Domingue is an AHL goalie. I will be generous and give you that the 2nd and 3rd are enough to convince the caps to have to go out and spend more money on a probably worse backup.
goodrow is a 30yo 4th liner with 4 more years at 3.6m and a NTC. The caps are trying to compete next year and need as much cap space as possible. They also have a ton of depth and need actual top of the lineup players. That would take at least a 23 1st attached for them to consider taking on his contract.</div></div>
My thinking based on other comments is lindgren is worth domingue and the 3rd while I am aware that to dump Goodrow value it takes a 2nd so I put them together in this

OEL is actually quite a good defenseman. He’s played on a bad team and still been decent. In a sheltered role he can be a good mentor to jones

Not sure Mikkola signs for that price - going to get at least what he was making this year. There will be a few options that are cheaper that can fill 3rd pair/7th D role (like De Haan for example)
Miller's deal is probably going to be a little higher - thinking start point for a bridge deal is 3 yrs 4mil.
Would you consider a buyout of Goodrow - will free up 4mil in space. Can use that money for a better backup goalie and a new 4th line C that shouldn't cost more than 1.75 mil (i.e. Bjudstad, Acciari), re-sign Mikkola for a deal at what he made last year, and still have cap space to either sign a 23rd player or accrue during season for the trade deadline.</div></div>
i like your idea

toews i think would most likely bc its either he retires or signs for near league minimum. hes in the nicest way possible, on his way out and the rangers would entice him with kane and a chance at one more cup together
