Boston and the avalanche are always in the hunt for random players to overpay for, both of them tried to sign tavares for more money a couple years ago. Allthough i dont think its a good contract, i do think hes a good player and has good value.

I think he would, less tax better team. He would escpecailly waive it if you said that he would never rejoin the leafs (buyout).

how to actually rebuild the leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boomer125</b></div><div>So ya none of this is "how to rebuild the Leafs" more like how give Boston more prominence while depleting the Leafs organization. Swayman trade brings back Raycroft nightmares, Rielly is still a top pair D man none of that changed he played just fine if not great in that series, Brodie literally can't play the left side, and Craig Smith at 2 C is entering Thorton age player</div></div>
Well there needs to be an actual shakeup for the leafs, moving around your bottom six wont fix problems. The raycroft situation is different than this and no goalie is going back to Bos. Reilly struggled heavily this season and is on the last year of his deal, personally i dont think its worth it to have him leave at the end of the season for nothing. Brodie can change sides, Craig smith might be old but he is very productive right now and only has 2 years on his deal.

maybe the first is alittle bit of an overpayment, but boston has been known to try to get players at all costs, therefore i think that getting a second top 20 center would be very appealing to them. They also alreay have 2 goalies and frederick isnt that great of a prospect just kind of a grinder grit player. Carlo is good but he is at best a second pairing defender.

"Declining" by that logic Mckinnon is declinging because he had a bad season. Kuzy is a solid 2C and for a team that really badly needs a center they would give up 2+ picks and prospects/ players. So once again you know nothing about hockey...

out of playoffs offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>staytru20</b></div><div>We don't have anyone of real quality on the right side of the defense that isn't in the NHL already. Leason was also a lot better in Hershey this season (20 points in 33 games). I think it's too early to give up on him.
On the draft-able front - it's going to be really far-fetched that a late first rounder (from the Leafs' pick) is going to be NHL ready day one. If you're going to move defensemen, move Dillon - and that opens up two spots on the left side for Fehervary and Alexeyev (if he's ready). You could also move Schultz instead to open up a spot for TvR. Carlson did have a bad playoffs but that doesnt mean they should move him down or give him less minutes. I like shultz plus he has only 1 year left on his deal so if we need to we can move him up and down the lineup or even trade him. Jensen is an ok top 6 defender but playing first pairing is way too much, at most he should be a fringe top 4 guy.
Orlov and Jensen would be a tremendous pairing together, and they should be the first pairing. Carlson needs reduced minutes if his playoff performance becomes the norm.</div></div>
its alot easier to move defeneceman side to side rather than forwards. The draft pick isnt expected to be in the NHL for atleast 2-3 years, its just a future asset. Maybe we flip it at the deadline. Leason is decent but i really dont see him becoming more than a fourth line power forward because of his skating.

The thing is...it doesn't really matter because Dillon isn't good. He'd be fighting for NHL ice time with the other 8 Dmen. I know 100% what's going on with Dillon. It's the same exact move the Hawks did when Keith was at his best. Keith played with Rob Scuderi, David Rundblad, Christian Erhoff, etc... That's how good Keith used to be and that's why Dillon plays soo much with John Carlson. Carlson is REALLY good. He covers up a lot of mistakes.</div></div>

Murphy is an ok top four defender. But Dillion has been very, very good this year. Analytically he was one of the best offensive defenceman in the entire nhl with an ok defence. Analytics take out team mate impact aswell. Dillion is a ver good top 4 defender but the capitals need to get rid of players and the Blackhawks need a top 4 d man. Dillion is still very good without carlson, please actually look at stats before saying something like that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>staytru20</b></div><div>I don't think you need to add Leason and a pick as a sweetener for Seattle to select Jensen. Jensen was actually good this season, and moving that many assets to just move Jensen isn't the best option there. At this point, consider exposing veteran players in the expansion draft that you may have been planning on protecting if you had a better playoff run, and protect younger skill players instead.</div></div>
Jensen was decent this year, but there is a surplus of draftable defencemand and i dont see leason ever being an impactful nhl player so its better to trade him. also we needed to creat more roster space for young defenders and clear cap

schiefle talked about how unhappy he was with getting benched and it shows when he is unhappy on the ice, obviously you arent going to talk to the media about it, and with the amount of assets going back, it would be worth it for thr jets to take it.
