Helly In Buffalo is a nice idea with a tandem with Levi, I’m not completely sold on Levi, he seems a little undersized to get to elite, but may have a saaros type abilities, definitely technically sound and all the reflexes. But probably 4 years ish til you need to pay him, so possibly work as a tandem depending on helly ask of term and money.

Oh it's definitely not? Put him on this year's Sabres team and we have 100-105 points. We had 91 with some of the worst goaltending in the league

Jokiharju. Much safer option.
You can't avoid age, when we are dealing with 36 yrs hockey player. Petry could be on last leg. That would be his 3rd team in 3 years, would he find motivation anymore ?

To sum up Petry would be a good two year solution but is too expensive.
2023-'24 is not a problem and Buffalo could fit his salary in 2024-'25 if they could add a more ELC.
My penny and half, take Petry if Buffalo cannot sign a UFA RHD during the off season, but the Penguins need to add a sweetener.
Since, the UFA window opens after the draft, it would need to be a 2024 draft pick.
Two years of $4,375,000 cost the Islanders two seconds and a third to move Ladd, Buffalo should be expecting at least a second and third for taking Petry regardless much the Penguins fan cry foul.

Maybe Markstrom won't waive maybe he will. May decide he would rather go to an up and coming young team with a great young d core rather than going through a rebuild/retool in Calgary. Especially when it appears they are ready to give the net to Wolf. As for Anderson this is a solid return and if Calgary wants to rebuild he again may be a guy who says he doesn't want to be a part of that

Vanecek when traded to Washington was 26yrs old and had a 2.68 GAA / .908 SV% / 6 SO. Swayman is 24yrs old and has a 2.24 GAA / .920 SV% / 9 SO
^The only comparable of the two is they both play goalie.
As for the OS, Boston easily matches a $4.2 million offer and either moves Ullmark or takes a hit elsewhere.</div></div>
One of them has played behind a historically great team too. Make it UPL and a second MAYBE, but saying a "High-end prospect" or a first + is silly IMO. But again, I'm not an NHL GM and I don't spend all day every day creating valuations on players and scheming trades. I made this on my lunchbreak in 15 minutes as something I'd like to see :tearsofjoy
And I think admitting that fitting in a 4.2 AAV contract will require you to trade the likely vezina winner this year or "take a hit elsewhere" immediately disqualifies it from being "easy to match".

I don't think these past two years were completely attributed to a position change. As good as he is offensively, his defensive game hurt the team a lot.

Second, when I saw that we only got a first and a former 7th roung pick for Sam, I nearly fainted.
Then when I was able to research Devon, I was more than satisfied.
Karmanos, Ventura and Crowe certainly had a lot to do with all of the deals (Sam, Rasmus and Jack).
EDIT: Let me add, thanks for reminding me that Jordan was actually part of the Jack trade.
I was not thrilled with giving up a second for Greenway, but maybe it will turn out exceptionally well.

Next year after last night
Jokiharju, Mittelstadt and Olofsson are not the reasons the Sabres lost last night.
Not having Samuelsson or Thompson in the line up. wearing the home ice blue and playing on home ice had more to do with the defeat.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>asauer1122</b></div><div>Lance,Chad lol. They are glorified armchair GMs. Unless you have been told by Terry pegula, Kevyn Adams, and donny granato, your thoughts, along with mine are useless. Your opinion is just that, an opinion. And for what its worth alot of those "lance and chads" think savoie is nhl bound next season so the argument doesnt make sense. And if kulich is making the team it still leaves them needing to make room.</div></div> Chad, Sion Fawkes, Bill Hoppe and Mike Harrington are all useless for one reason or another.
I trust Lance more than any of them and Mellissa offers more insight than Chad, or Sion.
In general we agree that they often miss the mark.

Completely agree that they will get a chance.
We may see that the closer to NHL ready the fewer games they may see at the beginning of the season, so they could be brought up at the end of the season and not exceed the 9 game threshold.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sahbrays</b></div><div>I don't think anyone who's watched 37 can justify giving him away for nothing anymore after the past 3.5 months. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div><strong>My bold roster predictions for 23/24:</strong>
- Greenway and Mittelstadt remain Sabres
- Kulich stays in AHL
- Biro is traded
- Rousek is 13th forward
- Savoie makes team out of camp and sticks or plays in the WHL (not for Winnipeg, they would almost assuredly deal his rights)
- Bryson is traded, Lyubushkin is 7th D
- Comrie UPL is the tandem</div></div> Absolutely the most likely.
Let's hope Johnson signs.
While he is young Levi just may be the rotation before the end of the year.
<strong>EDIT</strong> Kulich has been on fire since the end of January
21 pts and 14 goals in his last 24 games, v 19 and 7 goals over his first 31 games.
Remember he is playing against men in the AHL and he is younger than either Quinn or Peterka their first full year in the AHL.
Besides look at his picture on HockeyDB, he looks like he can stand up to the rigors of he NHL. LOL!

The truth be known while he did suffer a really bad stretch, Olofsson has 3 goals and 5 pts in his last 7 games.
ONLY 22 NHL forwards are scoring at a faster rate than his 1.5 goals/60.
His 26 goals would trail only Ovechkin's 42.
Olofsson would be a good pick up for Washington.
