Also, if we were to do a trade with Matheson and Necas, adding a 1st, Xhekaj, and Evans is absolutely too much</div></div>
Add to all of this that Hughes has been turning down offers for Xhekaj since the last offseaon and it's the easiest decline by the Habs (or any team) in the history of this site.

Barrie's value was pretty high that season as well. But Barrie is also useless everywhere else since he's like 5'11. Matheson is 6'2, much better physical game, and is inconsistent defensively, but not straight bad. And since when is 32 EVPs as a defender useless 5v5?
MTL has 0 reason to trade Matheson for Necas, so get over it

Top 10 point producer for defense vs inconsistent winger, not much of a question realistically

That is way too much. I'm not sure I would do Matheson for Necas 1 for 1

My guess this year is Catton, teams always let the smaller skilled guys fall. Another could be Eiserman, it would be a similar situation to Kaliyev a few years back (was rated the best shooter of his draft class) ranked to go in the top 10, and fell almost 20-25 spots.

Buy outs possibilities
Teams don't buyout players unless the player/team want a separation and trade is not an option OR they need immediate cap space. Habs have neither issue with any of their players.
Anderson and Gallagher are the only guys with a contract that is probably untradeable as is but again there is no need to BO them. At least not yet. Dvorak is good player with 1 year left, he's just overpaid. All he needs is retention and many teams would be interested. Armia WAS a buyout possibility like half way through the year. He is not anymore. The guy did as much of a 180 as a player could do. He had career year in goals and played excellent down the stretch. He won't be bought out 100% and frankly he will have value come TDL. He is a playoff guy.

no buyouts, also
super mario armia has value now that he is in last year of contract and is still young. exellent pk.
dvo is a center who takes draws. they will always retain value. EVEN IF THEY LOSE EN EYE. faceoff men are always in demand.

Stinky Stank for Guhle Straight Up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shanesaw9</b></div><div>Yeah not very well... his pairing with Matheson was outscored 22 to 16 at 5v5 together and expected goals were tilted too.
Meanwhile Matheson - Barron or Guhle - Barron outscored opponents 19 - 16 together. A difference of 9 goals on the season which is a few wins for MTL.
It's statistically proven that LHD + RHD pairings perform better in general than same handed pairings.</div></div>
I want STINKY STANK!

I think the main issue is Utah could conceivably go either side. On the nhl roster atm beyond durzi theres almost nothing thats a long term solution. Of their signed guys in the.minors lamoureaux is probably a nhler but more depth than core.
On the reserve list theres simashev obviously as a LD but beyond that its pretty thin.</div></div>
We still have Chabot.
Sanderson - Parekh
Chabot - Zub
Kleven - Vet

As deep as they are of young Dmen. The thought of MTL having a D core of:
Guhle - Levshunov
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Struble - Engstrom
That's some cool crazy $h!t right there lol

Only scenario I see MTL trading down is if they view Demidov and Lindstrom in a category above the other group of forwards and both are gone by 5th overall. Only then would trading down make sense. Add another asset fo another move, and select one of Iginla, Catton, Eiserman, Sennecke, etc.
If Habs view, let's say, Iginla in the same group as Lindstrom, they probably just use the pick on Iginla if Lindstrom is gone instead of risking moving down and still not getting him.

RW dump for RHD dump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JIG19146</b></div><div>This appears to just be a trade for the sake of making a trade, and it does not move the needle for either team. From the Flyers perspective, I bet they think they can extract more value out of a Ristolainen trade than an Anderson trade. RHD has way more positional value than winger and Ristolainen is a better player than Anderson right now. The market for his skill set is much bigger. Ristolainen (with 33% retention) can be moved at the deadline for an actual asset, cap relief or both. Can't say the same for Anderson.</div></div>
This indeed, we also have more than enough wingers already and would rather get rid of some than add 1 more, unless we'd be talking about clear cut Top 6 LW.
