We have a plan. Going to use those assets that we have gotten a flip them to get better in the offseason. I think we will be a contender again. Need to fire Lavi and get healthy and stay healthy. That’s our issue

OMG why couldnt we get Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Gee, aren't the Sabres better off long term having two first rounders a second rounder, and 4.6m in cap rather then 2.5 years of Chychrun? Sabres may/may not makes the playoffs this year, but certainly they wouldn't be beating Bruins in the first round anyway.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Because the Sabres are being patient and planning for the future while the Sens are paying big to be good now. Look at the expected path for these teams going forward. The Sabres are likely going to be the class of the Atlantic in 3 or 4 seasons if they are patient now. Ottawa is paying 1sts every year to be the 4th-6th best team in the division and are likely to get passed by Detroit, Buffalo and Montreal as the teams above them come down from their highs. Ottawa is going in on the next 2 or 3 seasons while Buffalo is playing a game where they will be very good for a much longer time.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Appreciate this post.
It's a struggle being a patient fan</div></div>
The Sabres are loaded with prospects, they just need to fix their D. Dmen take a long time to develop, look at Dahlin and Power, they're 1st overalls and Dahlin took 5 years, people were calling him a bust, Power is on his 2nd year and has a lot of work to do still. Sitting on your hands is just as bad as over spending. The Sabres could easily have afforded this and still came out of the draft this year with a good group of prospects to add to their pool that's already top 3 in the league. Chychrun also has term so it's not like they were under pressure to resign him. There's no excuse at that price, not a single player was sent to Arizona, just a bunch of lotto tickets.

2023 1st, Barrie, Bourgault, Broberg, and a 5th for just EK65 at the same retention?</div></div>
I think the Sharks need to hold a strict limit of 3.5 mil retention MAX (and that would have to be a very good return). Especially if it's at the Draft when a team has more flexibility with the cap. I'd go for that return at 2.5-3 retained. 4.25 is just so much waisted cap. especially because Karl's true value is around 9 mil.
If he hit FA after this season I would guarantee he would get a 3 year 8-10 mil contract, but for some when it comes to a trade, people think he's only worth it at a 5.75-7.5 cap hit.

My cousins actually grew up in Saratoga as Sharks fans...As an East Coast Ducks fan, it's always been entertaining to remind them that they're the only team in Cali without a cup.
Well, you've got lots of picks and a few new shiny prospects. Give it 2-3 years and hopefully there will be a 3 headed monster back in Cali. Hockey was better when everyone in California was good.

I'm far more jealous about you guys getting Shakkkk though. That guys is going to be a stud.

We are finally rebuilding (which should have started a couple years ago) and on track to get our first top 5 pick in around 20 years, in a great draft. A potential franchise player is on the way and we get to watch EK for 22 more games/win the Norris before flipping him before the draft.
But back to the point of your post - yes, more picks please haha. Might want to include a few others such as Barabanov as well.</div></div>
Would totally do Barabanov for the right price. I’m excited to have such a lucrative pick, just underwhelmed by the Grier thus far. The Timo trade wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either

Make it 3.5 m retention and Sharks might do it. Also though I like Petrov switch him with Bourgault
If Grier wanted to retain that much the trade would already be done

Yeah probably, or right after the lottery dictates draft positions.
It's funny when both Karlsson and Grier both say a trade is unlikely before the TDL, and they both say he is likely gone during the offseason. For all Grier's flaws at least he's on the same page with his players. 3 days to get a Karlsson deal done is impossible when it took Grier like 10 days to get the Meier trade done :-/ The retention is too complicated and contested

the devils based on current standings pick would be at highest 24th, assuming that none of the divisional winners make the conference finals. And if the devils pass carolina they'd be at highest 27th (assuming boston doesn't make the conference finals)

"The old 7 for 6 trade? Wake up dude! This will never happen!"
"LOLZ! Sharks get fleeced! Grier can pack his **** and apply for a job flipping burgers at McDonalds!"
"Bruh! What the Hell are the Devils thinking? Meier isn't worth all this! Devils have lost their minds!"
"What? Meier is a rental! No way Sharks get all this unless a contract extension is in place!"

Based on cap and assets I think theres one more piece heading to NJD, bc based on this the devils would still have more than 2 mill in space. (bonino?)

Friedman reporting a hold-up because of injury which would lead me to guess that Holtz is part of it since he got injured a few days ago.
