Meh. Maybe he would. I would be very shocked if conversations got that far with anyone

Seth Jones practically forced his way here and now that he's endured what should be the worst 2 years of the rebuild, I doubt he asks to leave

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tony_Campolo</b></div><div>idk maybe, Chicago's 3rd rounder is technically a 2nd in itself no?</div></div>
Well I guess technically its not, but it will be pick 66. 1st round picks are a lot more valuable than 2nds and 3rds. While there isn't an end all be all tool for determining value of picks, i like to use this tool
https://puckpedia.com/pickvalue
which suggests that even if we traded our own 2nd and our own 3rd, getting Toronto's 1st in return would still be a win

If you're just getting the third in addition, you probably get CHI's 2nd instead of LAK

Yes. Bad contract. Probably overpaid by a couple million a year. We get it. But far from the worst contract in the league. He eats minutes and is a positive producer.

Regardless of whether the trade is good value or not, (I don't think marner gets traded; I think he signs long term, which is good for the Leafs), people got so caught up in ****ting on Seth Jones under colliton but have failed to check back into reality this season to see him playing better under a system that suits his playstyle a lot better

Yeah I mean most people agree that the Isles probably got scammed in that one, and there's also the fact that it was widely anticipated the Isles were planning on trading the 13th pick to bolster the current roster. The scenario here is a little bit different than that. I don't think either of Harris or Barron have late first round value at this point, considering they're both projected as third pairing defensemen.

I just can't see Minnesota taking that. They need quality over another 3rd pairing defenseman

If the Hawks take Dickinson at 2, Davidson should be fired. I get it if he's the best guy on the board at 4 if Levshunov and Demidov are gone. But adding another LD with a premium asset just seems like a redundant waste

The Jeannot trade was absolutely fried. Not only did they waste multiple assets that couldve been used to actually help the team, it robbed them of cap space they couldve used to keep Ross Colton. I've seen this movie before with Stan Bowman, you don't want to waste the last 3 years of Kucherov's contract with a GM that's not putting your franchise star in a position to contend for cups perennially.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Maybe, but is he really going to move the needle from what we already have in the pipeline?</div></div>
In the long term, maybe not, but he was pretty highly regarded in his D+1 year. At the very least, you're buying low on a guy who can give Bedard some actual talent to work with (especially if Nazar starts in RFD) to see if he can tap into that potential he was once thought to have. I think he can have an impact similar to Kurashev, if not better. Again, only if the price is right. A 2026 Toronto 2nd rounder doesnt strike me as a particularly high price.

I'm not sure what the singular price on McMichael would be but I would be interested if he was available for the right price.

The russian factor is overblown. Major Russian prospects historically have not balked on NHL opportunities. it's a non-issue

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>TBF almost all Russians playing in Russia are big question marks.</div></div>
I'd kind of understand the point if he was playing for CSKA, but Metallurg doesn't have ties to the russian military or Putin. It's also been way overblown how Russian players are "DND"s because of the chance that they wont come over. Who's the last major russian draft prospect that sat there and didnt defect? People like to call it an issue, but it really isnt. He's debating extending in Metallurg because Guerin wouldnt commit to giving him a lineup spot, not because he wants to stay in Russia forever.

A forward prospect that will become free agent and a russian player who is a big ? mark. Hugues and Gorton express themselves at the press conference that they like to get bigger up front. This doesn’t help them at all.</div></div>
Im not sure if you know who Danila Yurov is but calling him a huge question mark is a little off base

Dream scenario
Broissoit is an interesting target if they plan to keep Commesso and Gajan down in the minors for a few years. I think Debrusk and Wahlstrom could both be good targets, but you're missing a few key things.
Alex Vlasic is our best defenseman. He needs to be re-signed to a long term deal.
Reinhart and Guentzel will probably fetch a lot more than that, should they even make it to the open market (personally I think they both stay put where they are)
The Carter Hart issue has been addressed by others.
Richardson and Davidson value Foligno's leadership, and I doubt he gets traded along with a 1st for a rental in Chychrun, even if they think they can re-sign him.
Our LD pipeline is pretty loaded so I would prefer to target a guy like Henry Mews with our 2nd first rounder.
