Fair point actually.

July 1st shake up- thoughts? What you like and changes please
The ideas are pretty good. I think you should add a little more in all of those trades from Arizona's perspective. They are getting solid additions to their team and giving up not that solid assets away. I mean, for example...
- TB could use a cheap lower line player like Cousins in the trade...
- You could take a cap dump from DET to make the trade for tempting to them
- NJ might want to have something more... In my eyes, Hjalmarsson and Severson are pretty much in the same level, but Hjalmarsson is older and more injury-prone, so I think they'd want little more to make it more tempting deal for them.
All in all, a good concept, but needs a little work.

Trades with ARI, PHI and OTT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>J_Sand3rs</b></div><div>I like the overall concept of where you're going here. Only a couple of things I'd do different:
1) I wouldn't worry about signing Jokinen or Grabner. Between Gemel Smith and Roope Hintz, we have a couple of great young forward options for our bottom-6. There's also a lot of talk about the Stars moving Dickinson to RW, so realistically the bottom-6 could look something like this:
Shore-Faksa-Pitlick
Hintz/Elie-Smith-Dickinson
2) Wouldn't make the Methot for Borowiecki trade. I do like Borowiecki, and think he is the better player. However, I'd rather be saddled with one year of Methot than two years of Boro. Dallas has two very young, NHL ready, defensemen in Heatherington and Bayreuther. One of them will be primed and ready to take Methot's spot after his contract is up. Just don't see the need for an extra year of a veteran defenseman when we've got two kids ready for their shot. Plus with Heatherington not being waiver-exempt anymore he's going to have to stay on the roster. If the Stars try to send him to the AHL, he will get picked up by another team.
Overall, I really like the direction you're going with everything here. I love the Hjalmarsson trade. I think the trade really helps both teams. The Tavares signing would be nice, though I think you overpaid for him. He's getting $11M/8 from the Islanders. With the tax advantage that Dallas has, I don't see him getting more than an $11M/7 from Dallas. Dallas moves away Spezza and we've got plenty of cap space for him and all of our RFA's. Not to mention the fact that we have a ton of cap space next season for Seguin's extension + our RFA's next season.</div></div>
I believe you're in right track here, but I'd like to point out that this team needs also some experience to be successful in the playoffs. With your example, the 4th line and 3rd pair would look very young and inexperienced. Players like Grabner and Jokinen brings the experience to the lower lines of this team, and acquiring them doesn't hurt the team financially.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>behale8</b></div><div>You should be gm of this club. I really like the look of this lineup, and the trades. Does this allow us to re-sign Seguin after 18-19?</div></div>
Thanks for the feedback!
What comes to Seguin, I believe the team might be able to resign him, if he agrees to a contract that is similar to Jamie Benn's. I mean, $10 million or something close to it is the maximum they can give him to make this work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Toronto has no appetite for the Hanafin trade. Not that Nylander is way better or any of that crap that typical Leaf fans spout, but more along the lines of that trade doesn't meet any needs and creates a problem for TO. Nylander will likely play centre for TO this year. Hanafin is a LHD and they are stacked on the left side with Reilly, Gardiner and Dermott. Yes Hanafin could be viewed as an upgrade over Gardiner and Dermott, however I don't think its enough of an upgrade to send Nylander and create a big hole upfront while not addressing the issue of RHD depth on the blue line.
No the trade</div></div>
Say, let's suppose that Hanifin was a RHD, would you do the trade then?

No. Two most valuable assets in the trade come from MTL. It wouldn't help them.
Plus Lehkonen is not a RFA.

Probably not. I know that MTL is strongly after O'Reilly. This kind of trade might be an overpayment.
