<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arafay</b></div><div>Demelo’s current play is a large reason why Morrissey is playing so well. I wouldn’t want to move him until Morrissey builds up the confidence to play this way consistently. I also don’t think the pens would do that.

Copp should be kept as an own rental in my opinion. Foote is nothing really special tbh. Really like Samberg, good stabilizing guy with some potential, but not enough to move copp. I would rather resign him.

If the jets move into a playoff spot in the next few days, they should look into getting a guy like appleton back. Or another 3rd line rw to improve the 3rd line. I really like what reichel has done, but he’s better suited for a 4th line role at this point in his career</div></div>

Very little chance that Copp resigns, with 91 now in the top nine and eventually 27 back in lineup that moves Reichel down I like him over Vesalaninen he plays like he wants to stay in NHL as far as 44 playing better I actually don't see it I've been to the last two games and overall better team defense and puck pressure are more the reason for improved play of team. Foote might not be anything special but I suspect he will be a serviceable RHD and also that's why TB has to also give up a 1st. Kapanen, Lowry and Stastny would be a decent third line.

Jets are playing better and if they do sneak in ahead of Ana or kings they likely have a first round date with the Avs odds of getting past them isn't great so was trying to see what could be done to recoup something for Copp by getting a few pieces back that could help now, young right D and a pick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>I very much disagree and don't see it that way at all, Helly just hasn't been good and they don't have enough scorers so trying to blame that fact on the dmen just totally misses the mark of what ails this team, also the Jets PK sucks cause of its structure and that's mostly what the two forwards do which is way too passive, the Jets PK has sucked for years so trying to somehow relate that to Dillon is laughable.

So while there's some productive players in that group only 81, 80, 27 and 55 are legit top 6 talents, Perfetti has looked good but 4 points in 13 games isn't blowing the doors off, the rest aren't all that impressive and the majority of those guys are in the top 6 which isn't really the depth scoring the Jets lack its the lack of anything coming from the bottom six that kills them and has for years. The defense has little if any to do with the Jets lack of offense, they just don't have enough finishers outside two or three guys, they really need another Dubois type too who's a bit of a power forward.

Dillon is a top 4 dman on most teams in the league whether they're a contender or not, trading him for this would be really bad and 46% retention on a guy with two and half years left isn't something that happens often if its ever have, there's no need to retain on him if he was traded, he's worth his contract as of now.

So when fully healthy this team will still get nothing from its bottom six, do we really think Stastny/Lowry/Copp will be able to produce anything cause history says otherwise. I can't blame the 4th line for their inability to score to be honest, they don't play much, gotta wonder why it is though that a lot of decent to good teams have 4th liners that have 15-20 point seasons while the Jets are lucky if their 4th liners can get to 10 points. The Jets goal differential shows exactly what's wrong with this team.

Washington traded Dillon cause they needed cap space to sign Ovechkin and they could get good picks for him cause he's actually good and they had a D prospect in Fehervary that they felt was ready to make the jump, he was a cap casualty that didn't have any trade protection to deal with, simple as that.

Both Schmidt and Dillon have been good for the Jets especially Dillon but I didn't like either trades as I thought they only needed to add one legit top 4 dman and let Heinola or Samberg challenge for another spot in the lineup, from the second those trades happened I knew Chevy was just acquiring future cap problems. Having said that Heinola had a pretty bad preseason and Samberg got injured so had they not acquired some better D they'd probably have an even worse record right now.

As I said in my other comment, the Jets biggest issues are a hole in the top 6 and a useless bottom six, that's what needs fixing, the defense is fine.</div></div>

Yes i looking back on Dillon trade I didn't realize I had retained salary that was a mistake, still doesn't change my opinion of where he fits on an NHL roster we'll have to agree to disagree on that although if Dillon is a stud 2nd pairing Dman and is only makin $3.9 million you'd think they'd been able to dump salary somewhere else because that's a bargain in the NHL. As far as third line you say Stastny Copp Lowry don't score enough sure everyone would like their third line to score more but that's a luxury few teams have that is why defense has to be better than fine. Boston third line Foligno, Frederic and Steen. Rangers Barron, Goodrow and Gauither. Toronto MIKHEYEV Kampf and Kase. Tampa Maroon, Bellemare and Perry. Nashville Sissons, Jeannot and Trenin. Capitals Dowd, Hathaway and Hagelin. Vegas Kolesar, Roy and Janmark. Florida, Carolina, Pittsburg and Minnesota probably have better third lines again a luxury most don't have. Also again I'll point out that virtually every Jet fan on here says Copp is worth a first round pick Stastny has 11 goals and 20 points in 32 games only guy under performing is Lowry but he's been saddled with a lot of fourth line players because of injuries and Covid. Not sure if you are like the typical Jet fan around that cries when Perfetti gets bumbed down in lineup or when Svechnikov plays on the fourth line but according to those "experts' Jets must be loaded with offensive talent. Bottom line is to put it in your terms Jets third line is "fine". Dillon is a bottom pairing D, Stanley gets nowhere near a starting line up spot, DeMelo doesn't get more than 12-14 minutes and Morrissey isn't an number 1 D on a contending team. Losing Byfuglien and Trouba and to a lesser but important extent Charoit and Myers were huge losses that Chevy hasn't been able to replace and the lack of Jets success is reflected as such. Those are just the straight up facts and part of it is hard to blame Chevy Buff unexpectedly quit, Trouba was never staying in WPG and Myers got overpaid in VAN but we would not need this discussion about where Dillon slots in the Jets lineup if Chevy would have re-signed Charoit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Not trying to be a d!ck but from this comment I wonder if you've watched any Jets games this season.

Dillon has been solid, easily one of the Jets best dmen and has some much needed size and physical play on the backend. He's on pace for 23 points and is +12, pretty decent numbers for a guy thats not really known for his offense, there's been absolutely nothing to complain about with Dillon. I'm all for trading him cause I think they need to move in the youth but nah, they don't really have anyone to replace him that easily, maybe Samberg but he struggled in some of his games against better teams.

Ummm seriously have you watched any games, Helly has not been good this year, he hasn't kept them in games and if anything he's cost them games especially with his adventures out of the crease to play the puck, his puckstopping has been leaky far too often this season.

The defense has been fine and the least of the Jets problems this season, the change this team desperately needs and has needed is a better bottom six that can actually produce like 3rd and 4th lines should! That's the change I want and have been saying they've needed for years, I also feel they needed a top 6 winger before the season started, Chevy should've made the Buchnevich trade and not the Schmidt trade.

The Jets struggle to score goals, if they had one more legit top 6 forward to start the season like Buchnevich and a couple decent 3rd liners this season probably doesn't go down the toilet like it has.</div></div>

I'm a season ticket holder since they have come back to Winnipeg so ya I guess I've seen a game or two lol. Just got back from Wild game actually, Helly's numbers aren't great this season mostly because the team defense in front of him has sucked, tonight when team plays just a bit of defense he puts up a shutout. If you watched any Jets games you'd see that a large part of their lack of offence is because they can't get clean exits out of their own zone Dillon is a nightmare making any decent plays coming out of their end. Not to mention the Jets brutal PK which he plays about 40% of the minutes. Yes he brings some toughness which is good as Lowry is the only other guy that plays that role. And Yes the Jets are struggling to score goals but to think they lack enough offensive depth is kinda funny 81,80,55,27,9,26,25,91 isn't enough I'd say lots of teams might want that kinda offensive depth. In fact on this very Website every Jet's fan says Andrew Copp is worth a first round pick at the deadline so if you think he's worth a first and he's best suited to 3rd line on Jets I would say they have plenty of scoring, but when you have guys like Dillon, Stanley and to a lesser extent DeMelo and Schmidt turning the puck over on what should be an easy play thus creating more time spent in their own end that doesn't lead to too much offense. To be clear the comment was made that in my trade some thought Jets could get more for him and maybe they could but I didn't think he was that good to expect more than what I proposed in the trade. He makes $3.9 million and has been traded twice and the last trade was from a Stanley Cup contender that thought the a young guy like Fehervary and a journeyman like Trevor van Riemsdyk provided more value to their team just like I think Samberg and Heinola could. So I guess I didn't have to go through the reasons that big parts of the Jets lack of offense because of their defense and could have just said I don't think his value is any higher than what I purposed in the trade and it should be pretty obvious he is a 3rd pairing Dman on a Cup contending team yet he is a 2nd pairing big minute guy on the Jets but sure the Jets defense is fine if you like to see off the glass and out, the ever so popular flip to center ice or icings. To the bottom six issues when all the forwards are in the lineup they have a solid 9, the 4th line usually plays 5-8 minutes a game and teams can't invest any cap space for that. Winnipeg will never attracted the Spezza, Thorton, Perry or Parise's of the world so they try and fill with older less talented player which every single Jets fan hates or bring up young guys Chevy tried to upgrade the defense for this season and in my opinion Dillon and Schmidt were not the right choices on talent or salary. I guess my view when watching the game is obviously different than your view thankfully or their would be no need for forums like this lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Copp 100% returns a 1st</div></div>

Well as a Jets fan I sure hope they can convince someone to give them a 1st round pick.
Players that will likely get traded
UFA's
Giroux
Pavelski
Kessel
Klingberg
Hertl
Manson
Charoit
Giordarno
M.A. Fleury
Leddy
De Haan
Rackell
Colin Miller
Clutterbuck
Reilly Smith
Possible Non UFA's that get dealt
JT Miller
Chychrun
DeBrusk
Toffoli

teams that are most likely to trade their first round pick (Colorado, Florida and Carolina don't have 2022 1st round picks)
NYR
Wash
Tampa
Minnesota ( they haven't had a long run in playoffs so they might)
Toronto (tradition says they will but how many more can they give away and if they do it will be on a Dman)
Pitt (ya probably but my guess is they use it on a Dman)
Boston (possible but might want more scoring than Copp provides)
St. Louis (possible Copp destination but they maybe looking for some dman)
Nashville (doubt they think they can make a run so they probably hold on to their pick)
Edmonton (maybe Holland in a desperation to keep his job might but again more likely a dman or goalie)
Calgary (can't see them thinking that it's their time but maybe although Copp certainly doesn't put them in the Cup conversation)
Ana and LA no way they are trading their picks

I just have a hard time thinking Copp gets one of those 1st round picks maybe a 2023 first pick. Jets are pretty low on young forward prospects other than Pefetti and Gustafsson so if you don't get a first pick a second rd with a mid tier young prospect is next best thing. But I hope you are right.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>Fiala is absolutely a *team 1st* player. I don't know where you’re getting the idea he isn't from. He's a top line player, considers himself as such, and expects to be paid accordingly. He's certainly cocky about it, but is absolutely a team oriented player and person irregardless of that fact.

Most of his frustration this past offseason was in large part because the team wasn't willing to invest in him when it invested in Kaprizov, Eriksson-Ek and others on long term contracts and not him. He also was mostly given the leftover bottom-six caliber linemates the last couple of years and he still managed to produce roughly on par with Brock Boeser despite that. Since he's had Boldy on his wing though, he's been over the moon and overjoyed to actually have someone he can actually work with. Despite his frustrations, which he's admitted to, he's always been vocally supportive of his teammates, coaches and even Guerin throughout all of it.

Kaprizov was *going down* because Grzelcyk had just taken out Kaprizov's skates with his stick. Which very easily could of been called for tripping in its own right. Furthermore, Frederic adjusts his body and realigned himself to insure he'd hit Kaprizov when he realized he was going to miss. Kaprizov was already in a vulnerable position by that point. He chose to hit him irregardless of that fact. It was dirty.

Given that the puck had literally popped out and was in-between Frederic's legs at that same point, and all he had to do was wrangle it in and make a beeline for our defensive zone without making contact on a defenseless player. It casts his actions in dubious light at best.</div></div>

Ok you've convinced me Flyers will give the Wild Carter Hart, Farabee and two first rounders for Fiala and sign him to a $10 million per season 8 year contract extension with a full no move clause and name him captain, also as part of the Fiala trade Flyers agree to trade for Frederic sign him to 7 year deal and send him to the minors so he won't hit any Wild player ever again.
