Kings trade doesn’t make a lot of sense for them as they move two good contracts for very large one. Not to mention I’m betting Byfield is close to PPG next year

Competitive Window Open
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>deke9397</b></div><div>It’s Maccelli and a 2nd for Buchnevich who’s got 1 year left that wants out. No retention. You got a young controlled player with tons of upside. Vejmelka and a 3rd for Binnington. No retention on Binnington who they’ve tried to move before, you get a younger goalie with lots of upside as well. Then you get Kerfoot who scored the same as Schenn this year on a bad team and a 2nd. Moving off that deal would be nice where Schenn is in his career. I retained him down to just over 100k per point.</div></div>
Where have you heard Buch wants out? No one has reported that. Binnington has a very high value coming off this year. Most of the talking heads have mentioned what a good return he could fetch. IF they wanted to move Binner they wouldn’t need to retain and he’d bring a much better return than a backup and a 3rd. The Blues and Yotes were essentially the same team. Trading your captain for Kerfoot is not something I can see them doing. Still a hard pass

The problem is the Blues aren’t in position to trade away Hofer and Snugs. They honestly need to figure out what they want next year and decide if they want to do it with Binnington and Buch. That’s the 2 best assets they have right now that could move. Those 2 could net a very positive return and set the Blues up to be competitive in 25-26 and beyond

Gotta go back to 2010 we had the ole Boyle and Fallon for Toivonen and Richmond in a minor leaguer exchange

Agreed here. You also have a roster of 20 with zero cap space. Carolina is on the short list of very interesting offseasons coming up. Obviously a great franchise but they have some tough decisions.

You aren’t getting a Willander level prospect + a good winger for Buch as a rental</div></div>
But they got 2 second round prospects (one of whom is shooting up rankings), a fourth round prospect, a conditional 2nd, a 5th and Bunting. That’s a pretty good haul for a few months of hockey

Dougy Fresh
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>noted</b></div><div>Kyrou has a no trade clause that kicks in July 1, 2025. I personally believe the Blues will trade him before that. I know many on here will chastise me for saying that but just what I believe. So whether they trade him this off-season, at next deadline, or next off-season I don't know. I've heard from someone I trust that his name has been brought up in trade discussions before. (again I'll be chastised for saying this)
I don't know on Buch. If they trade Kyrou, depending on what came back, I think they would try to resign Buch. I don't envision them both being here long term but again I don't know.</div></div>
I’m in agreement here. Kyrou seems to be on the outs. There have been little crumbs dropped all year that point to it. Granted I think he has the ability to be a 80 point player in the right offense, but will probably live 65-75 most years. Overall, I think it’s just the way Army constructs the team and he likes gritty. Kyrou ain’t gritty.
I also wonder if Krug saying noblest offseason will make army think twice before Kyrou’s kicks in
