A 4th round pick just got paid 9.75M. They aren’t useless. Is slavin useless?</div></div>
Go look up how many of them make the NHL…

Chris Wagner is an AHLer and a 4th round pick is useless.

If you bother watching any of the Canucks games, you would know Pettersson is by far our best player. Trading him for the sake of trading him is moronic</div></div>
You’d be getting two highly touted young players at positions of need, not to mention draft picks.

I assumed Forbort having 2 years left and not being a necessary player would be better off elsewhere. I didn’t value him as highly as apparently many of you do.

If you do a real rebuild that’s the exact kind of trade you’d make. If you want to keep the same stale team together then sure do nothing.

If you don’t do a rebuild then of course it’s stupid but the team is full of dead weight and isn’t going anywhere as constructed.

Moving Sandin and Kerfoot without ripping off the other team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>The cap situation isn't bad at all. They can move Kerfoot, his contract is very movable, it's just a matter of time. If he doesn't sign until later in the season or next season that's something that would be addressed then. At current state, they just need to trade Kampf (which would be a loss but he's not irreplaceable) or Holl.
They would have 22 players on the main roster and they have AHL players who will be competing for spots as well, so they are covered for injuries. If you look at the other teams who are over the cap, the Leafs are among those who are in a good position to be cap compliant with few moves.</div></div>
Let’s say Sandin is really nice and takes 1.5m aav… and let’s say some nice team comes along and hands us a 3rd for Kerfoot… we are still around 400,000 away from being over the cap. Which team is in a tougher spot? I can only think of Vegas

I never said he was elite. I said he was underrated because he is not talked about by most fans unless they see Dallas play often. He’s better than Brady Skeji who the Canes fans will have you believe is some stud

Moving Sandin and Kerfoot without ripping off the other team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Kerfoot to Anaheim for a 2nd is not a bad deal in itself in terms of value. It's a bad deal because of the teams needs+wants/Kerfoot's contract situation.
The Sandin trade is perhaps making the best of a bad situation, not getting even value for him, but in the Leafs case they are probably best off just taking a 2nd rounder (I'm sure they can get more) and drafting someone they like or letting him sit until he signs.</div></div>
We can’t sign him without moving someone because of how bad our cap situation is

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Hmm. Macelli has probably reached B+/A- status as a prospect, maybe could be a decent 2nd liner if all goes well. Smith... mmmm not so much. He could be a big late bloomer, but for now all indications seem to point to a depth player. It's not as bad as some may make it out to be, but I still think Sandin is the clear best piece in the deal.</div></div>
It’s essentially a 2nd and a 3rd for Sandin. We wouldn’t get a first back for him

Relax I got you and your fellow fan mixed up. It happens. Regardless you did like that stupid comment about Gourde’s playoff “slacking” when his playoff performances led to back to back cups on the best 3rd line in the league then.
