2022-2023 Oilers
Bunch of things wrong with this.
Keith has a full NMC and isn't waiving for Arizona.
Barrie has WAY more value than that.
Campbell hasn't proved he can handle a starter's workload.
What did Kulak do to get a big raise? He's having a worse season than when he signed his current contract.

Just tried to value it based on position, aka best rw, lw, c, rd, ld, g. Probably some centers better then some wingers but did it by best players per position, with scratched just being the best left over

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Copenhagen</b></div><div>Not much on the Market next year besides Husso.
Who else you thinking? We need a goalie, Smith has got to be done by next year.</div></div>
Husso had a good 14 game stretch earlier this season, outside that he's been garbage.
Last season: 3.21 GAA, .893 sv%
This year, 1st 14: 1.81 GAA, .945 sv%
This year, 2nd 14: 3.01 GAA, .897 sv%
Spot the 14 game outlier.
Skinner is a better bet.

Yam and jp will cost much more with that term.
Kass won’t need a first to move but won’t find an agreeable trade on this site including him.
Husso doesn’t have a track record worth investing in too much risk.

exchanges that I will never make but in fact they are logical
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeOverlord14</b></div><div>I personally understand the trade for Tage Thompson, but I actually don't believe we should pursue him as an Oilers fan. If we didn't I wouldn't be mad, I'd certainly grow to like him, but I have a lot of faith in our young guys, especially Konovalov. I also believe we're undervaluing what Derek Ryan is to our team. That's not to say he's better than people say is, just to the Oilers he is important. For a depth forward he can play offense well and more importantly to the team he is elite on defense and the penalty kill.
I'm not saying the trade is fair, nor am I saying that Buffalo would do it, but I can see it, which is all that matters on this site.</div></div>
Absolutely agree with you.

Worst Case Scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeOverlord14</b></div><div>I like the take on this. Also I really like the Gagner signing, but that's as an Oilers fan.
I must ask, how come Gagner is above Connor Brown? Connor Brown is much better. Does he have better chemistry on line 3?
Speaking of chemistry, though at the moment I agree Norris is better than Stutzle, do you think Stutzle should be on line 1?</div></div>
Note: this is the worst case scenario. So I would not love the Gagner signing, specially if it forces Brown down the lineup. Leads into question two: Brown is better and is a good fit for the top 6.
Stutzle, I think, will be the more complete player <strong>eventually</strong>. Norris is on the verge of of a 30 goal season and is better defensively in only his 2nd NHL season. Doesn't help that Stutzle has very little to work with beside him as the LW, Formenton, is finding his finish and whomever on the RW side right now is no good. Hoping we see a Formenton-Stutzle-Joseph line.

Looking Ahead
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeOverlord14</b></div><div>1) If we gave that to get Connor Brown then I will personally give Holland the nastiest kiss ever.
2) Even as someone who is a Mike Smith fan I like the idea of trading him to Arizona, but that is a wild trade and very unnecessary. It's a low return for Mike Smith alone, who is not a on a bad contract, just a bad year. Add in a 3rd and a prospect and then I'd say that the future considerations better score 60 points next season. Lastly trading Klefbom is utterly unnecessary, he does not count against the cap. So that trade would not only take my kiss back from Holland, but I would probably make him kiss my fist.</div></div>
Getting rid of Klefbom's contract would help Edmonton get out of LTIR for the year, so they can actually accrue cap space ahead of the deadline. Being stuck in LTIR all year again will prevent that for another year, so imo it's worth looking to offload his contract. And getting rid of Smith is a necessity imo, would be hard to run a Smith/Skinner combo next year.
Point is fairly taken about C. Brown, and the return would clearly need to be adjusted.
TY all for the feedback

Husso has a handful of good games under his belt and you're making a 5 year bet based on that? :tearsofjoy
Here's his splits:
All of the 2020-21 season: 3.21 GAA, .893 sv%
First 14 games this season: 1.81 GAA, .945 sv%
Past 13 games this season: 2.85 GAA, .903 sv%

Probably because Barrie is the Dman but is still outscoring Hoffman. I do like the foundation of this though, Edmonton could use help on the wing and MTL could use help on the d right side. The Habs would definitely have to sweeten the pot but I like where your head is at.

Montreal could literally get Bergeron for free if he wanted to go there this summer because he's a UFA (and I seriously doubt he signs anywhere but Boston)
I think we go with Savoie or Slafkovsky picking at #4 (one of them will be available).
There's a few players that are going to fall, including Miroschinchenko which I think we can get with that CGY pick or package another to move up.
Ty Nelson is a RHD we can get that was supposed to go in the first round but might land in the second.
Oh and we should tank HARD next year.

So You Dont Know What to Do
There's little sense in including Kaliyev in a trade for Konecny since Kaliyev seems to be well on his way to taking a place at RW for us. The idea in adding Konecny would be to shift Kempe back over to the left side if Konecny works out on the first line, so we'd need Kaliyev if he doesn't. And Faber isn't one of our RD prospects we'll be giving up (along with Clarke). Any of Walker, Strand, Spence or Grans would be available. I like Konecny's term and I'd be a little more generous than my compatriot by giving you a first, but that's as far as that trade would go for me inasmuch as I don't see UFA Justin Braun as a need.

Interesting to go the pure picks route on the Colorado trade but there's no way the Avs do that for simple reasons. Salary cap, no retention and it would basically wipe out their draft for two years.

Yes, Carolina does need LW. But we need a top 6 LW, not someone that doesn’t even have a chance at cracking the lineup. Brassard is a pointless acquisition, as he will just rot on the sidelines, so Canes will just keep their 3rd and Leivo. Leivo has had a big impact when he has gotten called up by the Canes, so why should we trade him when he serves his role in the AHL really well.

I don't know who wrote that Hockey News article, but Faber is the defensive prospect that the Kings are least likely to move. All of their other right-side prospects (Durzi, Clarke, Spence, Grans, Strand) are offensive-minded puck movers. Faber is the only guy that is a defensively responsible two-way guy. No way do they include him in this deal.
I like Konecny, but not that much. I wouldn't give up Kaliyev or Faber for him. 2nd + ****emo and a defensive prospect like Grans or Spence is most I'd be willing to give up.

overpay for konecy, slight overpay for giroux as he is a UFA and will most likely resign back with philly, moving carter hart is absolutely ridiculous and why so little for couts? also hayes contract is immovable you will have to pay to move him or retain his contract down to 4-5 mill
