Oilers Fix
As a Leaf fan, I pray Hyman can be signed for $3.5M. He'll get more ($4-4.5M) than that to stay in Toronto and I'd wager he'll get offers of $5M+ on the open market. Your price of $3.5M might be more accurate based on the fact that he has played with elite talent, for the most part, in Toronto and probably has somewhat inflated numbers based on that. I think the bottom line is if he will sign for $3.5M, there is ZERO chance he leaves Toronto.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TML1991</b></div><div>so the end result is you give up dermott lilly, two 2nd rounders, a 4th, and a 6th for Kuemper WTF?!?!?!
not even going to dive into the rest</div></div>
When you put it like that... it sounds bad. But you are comprehending what you want to and not exactly what is there. Don't leave out the salary retention which would come with a price. Liljegren is hard for me to give up, but Dermott is redundant to me now. He resists playing the right side and I think the Leafs have better options on the left. Where are you going to play him? The Leafs need at least 2 RD.... 1st pair and 2nd pair ideally. They need the room regardless of whether they can get Pietro. Dubas says he won't trade Freddy unless he can upgrade in net. Kuemper is the lone option IMO, and my way has him taking Freddy's spot at minus $2M.
If other people are stating that the Leafs need to do more to Kuemper and you're stating they are doing g too much, I feel like I'm on the right track. The truth is none of us have any real idea. Urinating on ideas without alternatives doesn't progress a conversation. I'll check out some of your postings now. Thanks.

I think Carolina would pounce on Pesce for Nylander. You can think what you want though. Maybe you know Don Waddell???

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trevorchef</b></div><div>There isn't much about this that I support to be honest.
Pesce is far too valuable to the Canes to consider moving mim for anything less than a Nylander(esq) kind of trade. That being said... too many valuable assets changing hands there from a Leafs perspective.
I don't see Robertson as an NHLer next season.
I have ZERO interest in Gal-Trade-Me-Every-Year-Yuk.
AP gets a lot more than that on the open market. (I don't think he wants to be in TO anyways).
Yeah.... pretty much pass on all of this.</div></div>
Thanks for adding. You might be right about Carolina's thoughts. I think Toronto will need to part with just about everyone I've suggested though if they have any hope of truly improving their defense group. I also have virtually no interest in Galchenyuk. On a 1 year league minimum prove it contract I have some interest. Do you really think Pieterangelo will get more $9 million in this economic uncertainty that is sure to come???

Thanks for your contribution. It really helped in creating a discussion. Do you have reasons it is "the dumbest thing you've read all year"? Maybe you've only read ultra intelligent genius level material until now? I already mentioned there were stretches. I'm looking for elaboration.

There would be zero possibility the Leafs can fit $9 million that Pieterangelo is likely to command. $7 million would be a stretch with their cap situation. The pieces they send to St.L are to get them to even play with Toronto.

Point finally signed
I don't think there's any chance in hell Point signs for that. I hope he does because it would get things moving with the other rfas and Marner in particular. I think that number is a huge under pay for today's prices. I want you to be right though.

Using Evolving Wilds Salary Projections and Trades
Colin Miller being a healthy scratch this past season means (to me) if he's traded now VGN are not getting anywhere near the return you are proposing. I'm not debating his actual value... I just doubt very much any other GM lets them off the hook so easily.

Interesting take. I see some farfetched hoped but no "destruction". How is anything destroyed? Aside from losing Zaitsev's not great contract and Kadri's lack of discipline nothing really changes that wasn't going to anyway. Chiarelli traded stars for cupcakes. Lousy comparison.

I don't think the Leafs, or anyone else does it if the price is that high. Arizona has done similar things in the past to get to the cap floor without actually spending that amount.

I'm not sure what the actual amount owed to Orpik was at the time of his trade to COL, but Marleau's is only $1.5M. It's a good way to get to cap floor without the actual cash going out. I also wonder how many people knew for sure Grubauer would turn out to be the starter for the Avs. I'll acknowledge it could take more than I offered, but it's a plausible idea.

I played around with another version (MPC21B) of this team and did increase assets given to acquire Trouba and Faulk. Came at expense of buying out Mason which I'm still not overly thrilled about, but this season worked. Lol.

Ya. Trouba deal initially also had Steve Mason and his 1 year remaining coming back to Toronto, but I couldn't make it fit under cap. I'm curious to see/know what does get Faulk out of Carolina.
