Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There are some kinks I still didn't work out... ie. still missing 2 forwards and a dman to fill out roster. If cap is $83M or more that would be enough for 1-2 of the 3. Plus, things get more complicated when Hyman and Dermott return from injury. Just having fun, but it doesn't seem to me that these ideas are way "out there". I've been wrong once or twice before. Lol.

Additional Details:
Let's use the Brooks Orpik technique here and hope a couple of fringe prospects are enough to convince Arizona to take Marleau's good cap hit vs. actual money owed and then buy him out. Leafs can then resign him at a much more cap friendly number.

Marleau isnt going anywhere. Grubauer is hardly a prospect or a fringe player, hes the Avs starter.

I'm not sure what the actual amount owed to Orpik was at the time of his trade to COL, but Marleau's is only $1.5M. It's a good way to get to cap floor without the actual cash going out. I also wonder how many people knew for sure Grubauer would turn out to be the starter for the Avs. I'll acknowledge it could take more than I offered, but it's a plausible idea.

I don't think the Leafs, or anyone else does it if the price is that high. Arizona has done similar things in the past to get to the cap floor without actually spending that amount.

Marleau is $4.25m. Buy out period is before bonuses are paid. And Arizona has the 5th most money committed to roster next year.

For the next 50 years (if they still have a franchise) some fans will writing that "Arizona has to get to the cap floor."
I don't know if Arizona ever had to get "to the floor". But they did have space between the floor and the ceiling.

This is a total loss, nothing close to the dubas plan.., and I don’t even know what that is. But I’ fairly certain dubas does not go on a drunken chiarelli bender and try to destroy the team.

Interesting take. I see some farfetched hoped but no "destruction". How is anything destroyed? Aside from losing Zaitsev's not great contract and Kadri's lack of discipline nothing really changes that wasn't going to anyway. Chiarelli traded stars for cupcakes. Lousy comparison.

19 players and 1.25m in cap space, our best forward prospect gone and 2 trades that won’t work. An underpaid Karlsson that we do not need.

Leafs fold the season, yup... pretty catastrophic
