Upgrades
We saw Zegras on the Wing, and he's far better at C. Yes, he's not good at face-offs (at the moment) but this is the case for a lot of young Centers and you don't just move them to Wing permanently because of that. And yes, Zegras isn't the tallest / heaviest but I fail to see why that should exclude him from Center duties. Hughes, McDavid, MacKinnon, Aho, Larkin, Point; all of these aren't the tallest and/or strongest and yet they're among the best Cs in the game. Don't agree on that one. (<strong>If</strong> the Ducks got lucky and drafted Bedard, I do think this scenario gets more likely though. But not for the reasons mentioned above and I'm confident that they would try McTavish on Bedard's Wing first.)
Trades look good to me.
Comtois deal looks like a bit much, haven't been to impressed with him. But with the cap hopefully going up regularly in the coming years, I'd be fine with that contract.

I expect Bedard to play down the middle (probably 2C) with Beck or Bolduc moving to Wing.

Then I'd accept immediately tbh. Add a 3rd to the original deal and I'd accept too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Some puzzling head-to-heads
Zachary Jones (#100) over Scott Morrow (#153) - Morrow's 1st year was better than both Jones' years at UMass-Amherst
Olen Zellweger (#51) over Lukas Cormier (#69) - Anyone who watched WJC would see this, unless you just looked at point totals
Calen Addison (#60) over Brock Faber (#74)
Jiri Kulich (#89) over Alex Turcotte (#108)
William Dufour (#77) over Matthew Coronato (#107)
Nathan Gaucher (#89) over Aatu Raty (#126)

Zellweger > Cormier isn't something I'd call questionable. Zellweger put up a record breaking season in the WHL. I also watched every Canadian WJC game and while Cormier was the better all-round player, Zellweger wasn't far off while also being 1.5 years younger. And since this is based off projection, it's fair to put Zellweger over Cormier because of certain indicators like the mentioned WHL season and this impressive WJC performance at just 18 years old. He's by no means a perfect player and still has to improve areas of his game in the future but even when taking off the homer glasses, I'd take Zellweger's projected future over Cormier's (aside from this Cormier reamins one of my favorite prospects in general, not trying to discredit him here).

2023 Mock Draft - Two Rounds - Part One
While I've liked the Benson footage that I've seen, I can't see Verbeek taking Benson. Verbeek has clearly said he wants to build a big and physical but at the same time highly-skilled team. The selections he / his team have made in his first draft further underline this (4x 6'2", 6'3", 6'5", 6'4"). I personally do think it's smart to go for at least a bit of size in general (not with every pick but the players selected shouldn't be mostly small, some players can be smaller that's never a problem imo) and it's good to see Verbeek does go for skill as well, not just pure size like some other (mostly old) GMs do. Before Verbeek's tenure the Ducks have already selected some "small", highly-skilled players (Zellweger, Drysdale, Perreault are all under 6' and Pastujov and Tracey are both 6') which makes it even less likely he would select more small players. At least that's how I see it.

2019 redraft prediction in 5 years
Can't see how Caufield and Kakko would be ahead of Zegras and Seider. Seider is already at least a Top 30 D-man, another season like this and he could be Top 10 (+he's RD). Zegras managed to score 61 pts in 75 games while having to play a lot with truly elite players like Nic Deslauriers, Derek Grant and Gerry Mayhew.
I'm not calling Kakko a bust and Caufield looked really good under St. Louis, but I just can't see them being better than Zegras and Seider (who are both still far away from their primes).

Top 10 Players by Position

Didn't Stamkos just put up 106 points? How is he not top 10 in at least one of the 3 forward spots?
MacKinnon is the best player in the world after only McDavid, that is not up for debate, putting him at 5th is an insult.
Guentzel and Connor should also probably be top 10 LW's. Miller should heavily be considered too
Markstrom is also certainly top 10, at least over Elvis, Andersen, and Swayman</div></div>
MacKinnon is not the 2nd best. Definitely Top 4, Matthews is ahead of him now and Makar and MacKinnon are tied at 3 for me. But yeah, he's definitely too low here.

In what world will Dach center Bedard? If anything, it'll be the other way around. And while I really like Dach and I think his underwhelming development so far is not just on him but on the Hawks, I can't see him being Canada's 3rd best C ahead of McTavish, Cirelli, Wright, Reinhart, Thomas, Kyrou, Suzuki, PLD, Barzal and Bedard (I know some of these players are on the team but Dach either plays ahead of them or plays C instead of them).
I also can't see how Hamilton is going to be Canada's 2nd best RD.

This.
I don't see the Ducks being this good, especially not better than L.A. and Calgary. I could see the Ducks finishing ahead of Vegas if their goaltending without Lehner really is horrible all year and if Gibson can be as good as he was before the all star break last season on a consistent basis.

I said: "once they are contenders, Panarin's game has likely already fallen off quite a bit"
Meaning: When the Ducks' contention window starts in like 3 years, Panarin's game will have fallen off in comparison to now. He'll be great the next few years, but that's the time period that is irrelevant to the Ducks. Panarin doesn't fit the timeline.
To make things clearer I should've said: ...once they are contenders, Panarin's game will have likely already fallen off quite a bit

It's too much for the Ducks specifically. They are rebuilding and once they are contenders, Panarin's game has likely already fallen off quite a bit. And it makes more sense for the Ducks to keep McTavish who projects to be high-end 2C or even a 1C and the 2023 1st which will likely be a lottery pick and could very well be in the Top 8 or even higher.

Yup, I think it's a good deal. I just never expected him to sign a 1y deal which is why I didn't want the Ducks to sign him. But this is great, if he puts up good numbers, he can be flipped at the TDL for quite a bit.

Ducks decline that Chychrun trade. That 1st could very well end up being in the Top 10 with this roster. Zellweger wouldn't be added in this particular deal.
