That raises questions -- were those 40Gs just lucky? Did he get them because he played with Kane?

I certainly think he can fetch 30-35 with Detroit, but I'm not so sure on 40.</div></div>

Not lucky but 40 G is going to be his best seasons. Not every player is always going to produce at his max potential, there is always some circumstances

Last year, these circumstances in Ottawa were :

- Ottawa has a dysfunctional coaching staff. They don't know how to instill 2-way hockey and their hockey systems are pretty basic/bad for the NHL level.
- DeBrincat and Batherson both missed Norris all season. Offense comes from quick efficient defense. Norris is a top notch 2-way center already
- Pinto did all he could but it was a bit too much to ask to babysit 2 offensive wingers in his rookie season, after missing a whole season due to injury

You put DeBrincat with Stutzle and Giroux all season and he ends up PPG (which is 16 pts from what he scored), even on that discombobulated team

DeBrincat is going to score 30+ most years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>I think Debrincat scores 35 with Detroit eventually. I think the trade, new team, new system, new city didn't help him. Plus he was playing with a rookie centre. If Norris isn't hurt how many more goals does he score?</div></div>

Pierre Dorion and DJ Smith are not the best people at their job, to say the least. DeBrincat with Norris is not super smart because Norris is not a playmaker, he's a pure goal scorer. Batherson is a pretty good playmaker though, his passing is top notch, him and Norris are deadly together. But was he supposed to feed both Norris and DeBrincat at the same time? DeBrincat is good at playmaking though so he was not going to score 40 on that line. Norris would have

Before the season, I wanted :

DeBrincat - Stutzle - Giroux
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>My point is if everything is explained in 2 languages you dont speak how are you suppose to learn the system let alone thrive in it?
People pretend you just show up and skate but a lot goes into learning the system and how to exploit it

Not only did Slaf jump from big ice to small ice a NHL recognized struggle Europeans go through
But he had to forgo the benefit of the Coaches knowledge and Veterans Experience

We havent seen Slaf Comfortable in a system like the Olympics or WJC or on Big Ice
We just seen a guy struggling with the speed and physicality of the game cause when he hits back he gets ejected ,suspended or in the penalty box.
There's a disconnect that was clear cause when Mesar was there he struggled no where near as much

I mean Imagine if we judged Hughes on his Hockey IQ based on his first years play</div></div>

But...Hughes's hockey IQ was fantastic in his first year of play. He just wasn't physically ready. It was extremely obvious from watching him that his feet, hands, and brain were as-advertised, he was just a boy among men.

Slaf's skating and IQ were the big knocks against him going into the draft and I think his rookie year further solidified those concerns. I'm not judging his IQ on his first NHL season. I'm judging based on his last 2.5 years of hockey, at all levels.

also, are you implying that Slaf is so big and strong that he can't hit people for fear of being penalized every single time?

Also you know the WJC and Worlds are on NHL ice now right?
