Buffalo/Carolina rumors

Did anyone on Buffalo break 70 this year? No. I think if the opportunity Buffalo jumps at a guy who can score rather than a kid who doesn't fit on the top 6 and a defender, for some reason, is being mentioned as "being on the block".</div></div>
He was on a line with malkin a majority of the year. One year doesn't make the sabres jeopardize the future of the team. you could be getting the toronto kessel. Not for that price. You're taking two core pieces to buffalo's future for someone who's gonna be out of their prime when the sabres peak. This trade does not make sense for the sabres and comes at way too high of a price tag. Reino and risto aren't on the block. Sure they are hearing offers on anyone, as any team should, but they aren't being actively shopped. THIS TRADE WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Sabres. You're not getting a 22 year old twenty goal scorer, 23 year old top 4 dman who has put up 40+ points, and 32oa in this deep draft for a player making 6 mil on the wrong side of 30.

Sabres get much older, Connolly could be had for a pick, Niskanen would be gone before the Sabres peaked. It doesnt work out for Buffalo.

MORE SPEED (CHI/BUF)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>Just wondering if they shouldn't change their system.
I have always remembered seeing Buffalo play here in Columbus, with team speed but no real heavy checking or intensity to their game.
CBJ has tried to go to a younger faster lineup with speed and puck control, but also play with a bit of grit and heavy checking.
Both Jenner & Foligno fit this type of game (similar to what Tom Wilson brought with Washington) to compliment the skill/speed.</div></div>
Botts and Housley build and play a speed game, they are not going to be a big, heavy checking team, and the NHL is trending away from that play anyway

Dumba/Risto swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>A possibly unnoticed benefit for Buffalo, Sabres re-up Dumba for 8 years and dont have to worry about Ristos contract coming up at the worst time</div></div>
I did think about that when I made the team, but I think Dumba will get a 5 or 6 year deal from MN so it's not that huge of a deal in term of contract length.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRiddler</b></div><div>I would have made this deal, in fact, I did it a little earlier only on a larger scale, but the essence of my trade was not in the exchange of Risto and Dumba, in the settlement of the Buffalo attack. I like Risto's game, but I like Dumba's a little bit more. :)</div></div>
I know, it's what gave me the idea for this trade. Like I said in your ACGM it was just too much of a deal to make happen. I also wanted a bit of verification on the trade value between the two players.
Overall I'm not sure which of Dumba/Risto will be better in a couple of years. I do think in the short term it would look like MN is the "winner" if they made this trade or not. A much better d-corps and team defense as a whole makes it easier for whichever player is there. In 4 years Buffalo could end up as the "winner" if they made the trade as their team gets better and MN ends up going into rebuild mode.
I don't think this trade happens IRL, but Subban/Weber wasn't really on anyone's radar either, so who knows? It would definitely be a shakeup for both teams. I was just looking for reactions/feedback on value more than anything. I'm not sure if I would make the trade from either team's perspective.

NEW 5 Trades plus UFA's (only 4 now) - Dream team for next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MarKadMar</b></div><div>I would say drop the Kessel trade and the Oreilly trade. I would hate to see Calgary give up that much for a second line centre when they already have Backlund and Jankowski as a great 3rd line centre. The Kessel trade is fine but a) I don't know if CGY is sending enough value, and b) I don't know if it's even necessary. Phil is great but also defense is such a strength for the flames, and Gio is getting older so Brodie is someone I'd want to keep around. If you're signing Neal I don't think another RW is necessary</div></div>
O'Reilly's much more of a 1B centre than a 2C. He's an incredible defensive force who also contributes a ton of offense. For most teams, I'd say he'd be their 1C, but BUF has Eichel. Kessel is one of the best scorers in the league: He's easily worth the cost on D and far outclasses Neal. Brodie is good, but he's had issues when asked to drive his own pairing. And I don't get the sense this lineup is really looking beyond next year all that much.

Was my goal, low risk high reward. Young and Fast and a measure of cost control. I like NH as a mentor and stabilizing influence for Dahlin. AA and AB also add a bit more physicality and Grubauer is a perfect tandem IMHO

No, I'm not trading for Karlsson. I'm not dumping large amounts of assets into a Dman who will begin to decline within 3 years and will ask for the moon cap wise. Nor do I want Bobby Ryan anywhere near my top line.
