Domi Caufield for Marner At Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsForEver</b></div><div>He's set goal scoring records everywhere he has played. He has a better shot than Matthews and he's already a 40 goal scorer. He's definitely generational</div></div>
He slipped to 15th for a reason. Matthews went 1st for a reason.
Caufield has only ever played with elite playmaking centres so theres a chance he doesn't produce without a guy like Hughes or Turcotte setting him up. Obviously on the leafs he would have Matthews or Tavares, but idk if he will be an "elite" goal scorer on a lot of teams.

Ducks trade your thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>Am I the only person who thinks the Leafs have way underpaid on this trade? A reliable backup and a top pair RHD for 2 fourth liners, a 3rd pairing overpaid D, a B prospect, an A prospect and a first? They gave up more then this for Jake Muzzin did they not? And Manson is younger with more term and plays a position of need for both franchises. Wouldn't it take more then that?</div></div>
Muzzin is better and they only gave up a B prospect and a 1st. Bracco and Liljegren are both A prospects as far as the leafs are concerned and the 1st is just excessive.
Ya the other guys are minor pieces but the leafs dont need a defensman that badly.

The fact that anyone says this is a no from MTL is laughable. Marner is worth much more than this regardless of how much he gets paid.

Toronto Trade - Nylander
You would have to add the 2nd to NYR side not the leafs side.
Basically you are trading a 23 y/o first line winger who is on the verge of being an elite player for a backup goalie, a top 4 defensman (I personally love Deangelo, but lets be realistic) and a 3rd line centre (on the leafs. Obvs Krieder is better than 3rd line on most teams)
The only part that really is of interest for the leafs is Georgiev and they can get him or a player similar to him for less than Nylander. Deangelo is great, but again not an urgent need with Holl playing as well as he is.

Cap Crunch Again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigOaf69</b></div><div>Friedman says one thing Lebrun says another, a few teams are budgeting for 83

Most teams budget for the worst case scenario. That way if it comes out better then they can get a better FA than they were planning. if it comes out less then they can continue as planned.

Dermott will get more money or less term imo
Engvall will get less money

Ill be honest dude. Im a leafs fan and Aberg and Spezza aren't worth anything.

To the clueless leafs fans
Engvall 100% has arguably pretty good value (3rd or 4th round pick comparable)
Holl, Marincin would likely also hold some value (Holl more than marincin) but more of an a cherry on top kind of thing
and Petan had trade interest before the leafs started having injury trouble making them take him off the block. I know he has been on waivers a bunch, but a guy needing to play in the NHL is worth less than a guy u can move up and down a few times before making him a constant presence in the roster

Georgiev another Shutout facing 38 shots
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ragsandbluesfan</b></div><div>Idk georgie has been pretty freaking amazing</div></div>
He has been pretty good but I wouldn't say amazing.
Even with the shutout tonight, he is still putting up a 2.67 gaa and .926 sv% which is definitely better than average but not elite.
The question is, would you rather trade him for some good assets (potentially a 1st rounder) or lose your elite goaltending prospect for nothing when he goes back to Russia?

From what I have read, he will go back to Russia next year if he isn't on the Rangers NHL roster

Leafs rangers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>Not sure why the Rangers would trade him to the same conference or settle for less than a 1st....
Would assume that one of San Jose, Calgary, Edmonton or Minnesota would be willing to pay a 1st to get their #1 goalie for the foreseeable future. He's in the same position as Andersen, Jones, Schneider and Grubauer were.</div></div>
I would argue that he is not in the same position as Andersen, Jones, Schneider and Grubauer were.
Andersen was a good STARTER for Anaheim. Gibson came in and was as good/better and younger so they had no more room for Fred.
Jones posted a 1.99 gaa and a .923 sv% in his 34 games prior to being traded, compared to Georgievs 2.95 gaa and .916 sv% in 56 games. Jones looked WAY better before the trade
Schneider was a known ELITE goalie prospect and had spend 3 seasons splitting time with Luongo (who at the time was team Canadas starting goalie). He also posted a 2.20 and a .917 which is similar to Georgiev, but still noticeably better.
Grubauer is the most similar to Georgiev, but note that the trade for him involved the salary dump and buyout of Orpik. So the true value of Grubauer was not even a 2nd rounder.
To show that I am not completely biased, Giorgiev does have some things over those comparisons.
He is the youngest of all 5 of them so he has longer to improve still.
He is playing on by far the worst team of any of those comparables. I think Andersen is the only goalie u mentioned that didn't go to a cup final while they were there.
At the end of the day Georgiev is worth what someone will pay for him and of the teams you mentioned, Minnesota will not be trading their first since they suck and wont risk losing a lottery pick. San Jose doesn't have their first next year. Calgary and Edmonton both could make this trade returning a 1st, but Edmonton tried this (trading to promote a backup) with Talbot (coincidentally from the Rangers) giving up a 2nd and 3rd, and it didn't really work out.
Basically, I dont think it is unreasonable to ask/hope for a 1st in return but I wouldn't expect it. This trade is very good considering Bracco is a borderline A tier prospect and the 2nd could be an early 2nd the way things are going for the leafs this year. Add in the 4th as a kicker and this trade should be very enticing for the Rangers.

NYR CBJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Braah</b></div><div>Rangers decline</div></div>
Why would the Rangers decline? They want to move him to make room for Shestyorkin and they would be getting an A prospect in Braco and a B prospect who has shown he can play in the NHL in Timoshov.
If they decline this what would the ask be?
