<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeygoalie53</b></div><div>And you're leaving out the most important thing to look at... the two different systems he's played in over those last 160 games. In 17-18 Weight used an run and gun system that led to a TON of Offense and no Defense... hence the terrible plus/minus and the Isles having the worst D in the league. In 18-19 Trotz used a Defense first system that sapped the offense from the team, leading to Leddy's lower points totals last year and the Isles having the BEST D in the league (which Leddy was a huge part of, by the way). Neither of those things suggest that Leddy is on the decline and absolutely point to those things being the product of the systems he played in. Since, by the way, Leddy was told by Trotz to focus solely on D and not worry about the offense as was the entire Isles team.

Look at the entire Isles team last year offensively... are you going to tell me that Lee because he only scored 28 goals (after 40 and 35 the previous 2 seasons) last year is no longer a goal scorer or is declining? Are you going to tell me Barzal is a bust because he dropped 23 points off his rookie campaign?

Lastly, take a look at Leddy's season as a whole, he was scoring at a much more consistent pace in the second half (after he adjusted to the D first system) than he did in the first 2 months of the season.</div></div>

Notice how I never mentioned points or plus minus but that is all you harp on. Go do some research...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeygoalie53</b></div><div>That was me you were arguing with because neither one of you is valuing Leddy at what he should be valued at. I'll say it again for the idiots in the room, Leddy is a Top 4 (borderline Top 2) LHD defenseman. He's an excellent skater who moves the puck out of the zone and puts up 40+ year in and year out. I'm not gonna go into explaining to you nitwits again about his Offensive numbers last year, since neither of you can grasp the fact the Isles introduced a D FIRST system and EVERYONE'S offensive numbers were down because of it. Meanwhile, he was able to bring his +/- back to 0 after having that bad +/- year in 17-18.

17-18 and 18-19 were outlier years for Leddy, one on the offensive side and one on the defensive side. I, and many others with actual Hockey intelligence, fully expect Leddy to go back to being what his career has shown him to be... a 40+ point guy, with an average +/- offensive defenseman who moves the puck. If you want that, you pay the premium.

What I find hysterical in all of this is that Ehlers had just as bad a year as Leddy and you want to sell the farm for him, but Leddy is washed up after what you idiots believe is a bad season??

As for the actual trade... That's way too much going from the Isles for Ehlers. You're not getting 2 top 4 defenseman for Ehlers, plus additionals. Something built around Leddy and Bellows for Ehlers (additional picks added on both sides to even it out if need be) should be enough.</div></div>

Outlier years??? GTFOH

By aging curve Leddy is past his prime...
