Yeah, Boston is not going to give up Heinen and Frederic. Two very nice pieces there. Chicago gladly does that deal, though. I think Chicago would even add a mid-end pick or prospect, too.

Thread:
Chicago Blackhawks signed Brandon Manning (2 Years / $2,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Bowman isn't going to be a member of the Blackhawks organization by the time Boqvist is NHL ready... He basically drafted a player that HE thought had a future with the Hawks, odds are Boqvist will never play with the Hawks because we will have a new GM & coach within a year...</div></div>
I normally think you are reasonable, but your analysis and thoughts about Boqvist are just not close. The ELC slides for a year, and with Boqvist basically having zero chance of making the team this year, that means his ELC will be good for 2019–20, 2020–21 and 2021–22. Boqvist said he was two or three years away. He probably said that assuming he would be playing in Sweden. By signing him now, he can play in Rockford next year, allowing him to continue his development at a higher level and on North American ice, therefore getting him more prepared to play in the NHL than if he went back to Sweden. With that, it is not entirely crazy to think he could be ready for an NHL role (albeit likely minimal) in 2019–20. But, he would likely be better suited to play a second year in Rockford to really stabilize his pro game before being asked to play in a top 4 role. So, if he joins the Hawks in 2020–21, that gives him two seasons on his ELC. He will likely have a fine rookie year and sophomore year, meaning he would get a very reasonable second contract as a "prove it" type of deal. The point? If you did not sign him until he was actually NHL ready, then he spends all of it in the NHL, and after three years is likely looking at a bigger second contract. So, signing him now makes a whole lot of sense, both for his development and for the long-term outlook of the team. He will be developed better and will very likely cost less on his second deal. That is great asset and cap management.

Sigh
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I'd do the trade, but the Hawks are weak down the middle without AA and also lack size. To me...this roster implies a lot of people stepping up in a big way. Edjsell a #3C??? I understand and agree he's the new hot toy. Played really well in the AHL. He's 100% ready for NHL ice time, but a cup contending #3C??? Hard to see that year next year. Especially when considering he actually played wing in Rockford. Are we giving up on Oesterle and Rutta? We have a lot of Dmen and both those guys played significant minutes last year. We should continue to develop if for nothing else...a mid season trade. Having a $2.3M Rutta (on a 1 year UFA deal) sit on the bench turns my stomach. Not that you're incorrect in the lines...just he and Murphy would swap if we took on Faulk.</div></div>
I agree with you about everything. If it were me, with this group, d pairs would be Keith-Faulk, Manning-Rutta, Murphy-Seabrook. And I'd prefer Ejdsell on the wing as well. But the point is, no one other than Toews can win face-offs. No way Ejdsell is worse than Anisimov at the dot.

That's what I thought too...don't see them getting a better offer than that. Of course, I think Chicago only does that if they really feel good about Panarin re-signing.

It's more that it's Nalimov for Darling. Faulk for Anisimov and a 1st is more than fair.

Yes, because he has been playing in the KHL, and playing well. 2.14 GAA and .938 save percentage. Not saying he will do that in the NHL, because he won't, but he's worth a shot. He wouldn't be worse than what Carolina had last year.

Add Aho, Tervainen, Slavin, Hanifin, and Peace and then it's closer. Hawks might need to add UFA rights to Franson though.

Hossa doesn't need to be in a Montreal deal. That's pointless. He is only valuable to cap floor teams. Chicago can just LTIR him.

Depends on what teams would give for Hoffman at this point. His value just went down big time. The way I see it, Duclair and Dzingel cancel out, they are pretty similar players actually. Anisimov and a 3rd for Pageau. So then you have to ask if Hoffman is worth more than 27th overall right now. Hossa is irrelevant to the trade really.

habs first round swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Codyymd16</b></div><div>im just curious why you think that, Saad is making a lot of money just to get 30+ points, so him for galchenyuk is in your favour, Mete and Lindgren for anisimov and forsberg works, and chicago is getting zadina (who was compared to hossa). and give up the 10th and 26th (i think)</div></div>
Saad is a 50+ point player, he (and the rest of the Hawks) had an awful year last year and will definitely bounce back. Galchenyuk for him is not in Chicago's favor. Mete + Lindgren for Anisimov + Forbserg is largely in Chicago's favor. 3rd overall for 8th overall and 27th overall, I'd think Chicago would do that. I'd take out the 4th and 6th rounders from Chicago though.

Exactly...there's nothing else you have you'd give up that Chicago could use for Saad. So what, he had a down (and very unlucky) year. Next to Ovechkin who knows what he would do. You're not getting a player like that for nothing.

Considering Crawford is a total unknown right now...they'll go no where if they don't have a viable option, regardless of whatever else they do. And Crawford is nearing the end of his career anyway, so addressing the long-term goaltender question would be good.

Even that was a mistake...they picked Hanifin because most people know the name and he is more offensively minded. Slavin deserved the spot.

Long story short, Veleno very likely isn't going any lower than 13th. If the Islanders don't take him, Dallas likely will.
