That's a big overpay for Zuccarello. I don't think you need the 2nd rounder in the Smith/Manson deal but that one seems fair if both sides wanted to do it.

Canucks get Howard and Ferland
Canes might take that but Canucks absolutely not. They like Ferland but they like Gaudette even more. Detroit deal is a no also. Markstrom has been fine and Howard won't be a huge upgrade. If Markstrom struggles, then it's Demko's show. Goldobin is not getting traded for a goalie, most likely he is moved for a defenceman or they keep him.

If you want to add Caleb Jones or Ethan Bear to the trade, then sure the Kings will trade you Lewis and take back your cap dump. Otherwise, no thanks.</div></div>

Then add him. It's not my team, I don't care.

I think Vancouver would accept that trade. Johansen is a local boy and 1st round pick defenceman to add to our thin D corps, the 2nd pick and Jaskin is pretty comparable. I think you're overpaying here but if that was the offer, I do think, despite JV's potential, Benning would pull the trigger.

Because Aquilini will not pay for another buried salary. Also, the promised Gagner they would find him a new home. So in order to acquire these guys they would have to trade for them.

Trade Idea - Read Description
It's really sad just how little Leafs nation thinks of Edler & Tanev. Yes they are aging and not the players they used to be but man, they would help any elite hockey team. No way should Vancouver make that trade. Edler is likely going to re-sign, but the way he is playing he should command a 1st + a B prospect. Tanev is still worth and low 1st, 2nd + a B prospect if he was to go. Leaf fans want to get something while giving up absolutely nothing.

I do think Vancouver gives that trade some serious thought. I know nothing about Ryan Gropp but DeAngelo would be a nice young add to the right side. The only problem is that the right side is full so they would need to make room for DeAngelo.

Offensively I agree. People out East don't watch Tanev enough to truly know how good he is though, but Vancouver would accept this easily. Johansen + 1st would be enough.

Vancouver rejects. Kinkaid is redundant and isn't going to go to Utica. Goldobin is a better player than Noesen, I think Canucks would look at a project dman over a forward for him.

Fair point. Oilers could definitely eat some of that money or move a pick to make it more palatable.

VAN Deadline 2018-19
I don't like the Baertschi portion of this deal. Goldobin needs to work on his shot and if he can improve that he could be a legitimate scorer in the NHL. I think Goldy for JP would be fine and a risk trade for both sides. Right now Baertschi is the best player in this deal and Spooner is dreadful, that is not a fair trade-off.
Like the Tampa deal if TB could make it work and if Edler would waive. I would try for the 1st since Tampa expects to be picking 31st. That will be a really low 2nd round pick.

I missed something in the initial trade, when i look at it now it looks good and I would make it. That would be a great return for Baertschi.

If he's as good as I've heard I would be fine with dangling Goldy out there for him. He hasn't scored much, but his playmaking might help Nashville. He's about the only reasonable asset I could see working because I wouldn't give up an established NHLer like Baertschi for just Fabbro, there would have to be more.

Only reason he wasn't considered is because he was hurt for the majority of the season. Also that year had a ton of Dmen in the top 10 and Oilers had already drafted Hall and Hopkins at #1, that was the year they should have traded down to the 5-10 range and taken a dman. It was the obvious move even at that time. Brutal. Granted they probably would have just traded down and ended up taking Griffin Reinhart anyways.</div></div>
I considered putting him in here.

Who here thought the Hall for Larsson trade might have worked out at the time it happened? .......
Who here thought Reinhart would be a complete bust, Barzal a superstar player and Puljujarvi would have so much trouble in the NHL? If you knew all 3 would, than you are in the wrong line of work and should be an NHL amateur scout.</div></div>
Agree with you there. I would say Hall for Larsson didn't seem that bad at the time it happened. I do think some felt the Reinhart trade was a mistake from the moment it happened. I am shocked Puljujarvi has turned out so poorly thus far. And you're right, the signings, every time makes mistakes. I just wanted to spice up the post a bit more.

I like Guddy for Pysyk as I've proposed this trade a few times. Unbelievably, there are teams that value Gudbranson, but Tallon really likes him and I think Florida would give us the best return. Pysyk is pretty much the same player but $1.3m cheaper and is a better skater and puck mover.
Anything for Del Zotto would be a win. I don't think we're getting anything for Schaller.
I don't think the Canucks should give up on Baertschi unless it fills a real need or nets us a good young defenseman. I would just wait and try to sign Ferland in the off-season.

Wouldn't Pavelski be better served on the wing? Maybe trade Braun or Karlsson for a 3C? Lineup Pavelski, Meier, Donskoi down the RW. I am curious how the Sharks make it work with $27 million tied up in 3 defensemen, albeit 3 elite ones. Bibeau is not an NHL goaltender, so I don't like the Dell trade. Martin Jones is better than his numbers show this year, but if he continues to be inconsistent they need a more secure backup option, imo.
