Arizona don't need him for value since he's a UFA and they have 4 other LDs on the roster right now aside from Chychrun, and we don't have to include him for cap reasons or roster slots. He's done all we've asked him to do or expected from him. He should be allowed to finish out his contract here without having to relocate (not to mention suddenly having to play for a truly awful team). And we don't need Brown even if we trade Ollie and Durzi, because we have internal RD replacements.</div></div>
He was only thrown in for cap reasons. If there are no cap issues, Arizona doesn't need him and LA won't need to get rid of him.

No, as of right now, he would be sitting in luxury suites. It's weird how little Canucks fans know about wild players yet keep wanting to force Motte on us. Obviously greenway is alot better than Motte and more value . You should watch wild games because your statement shows you don't watch any games. Keep motte</div></div>
Motte is a 4th liner, but one of the best ones in the league. He would absolutely help Minnesota. I agree he would not bring back a Greenway but he will be valued at the deadline. If Minny doesn't want him, someone else will ;)

Fire sell
Halak isn't waiving, that's what's being reported. I think Nashville is a good fit for him if he did waive because they need a better backup to spell off Saros. If he's willing to go, I think he'd get more playing time there. Plus Nashville can easily cover his bonus.
I'm not trading Boeser for Konecny. Boeser is a better player.

Possible moves
With how well Schenn is playing and how much this team loves him, I think it's gonna take a 1st or a high 2nd to get him out of Vancouver. It seems like a high price but he is playing top 4 minutes making $850k, there is value in that right now. I think for Motte this would be a fine deal, although I'm not sure Vancouver wants to take on more cap without a sweetener. I think a Dickinson for Ritchie might be more what the Canucks would be looking for.

It may be an overpay but I think it's a move Nashville's is willing to risk with the way they are going this year.</div></div>
Also, I don't watch Nashville, so I am not as familiar with Carrier's play. I know he's a good defencemen but I wasn't aware he was exactly top 4.

If someone blows the doors off for Garland, I think you have to look at it. Players like him are impossible to trade for and I don't think the Canucks are in any hurry to trade Garland. I don't want to move him but if they get a 1st & a grad A/B+ defense prospect like a Ty Smith or Braden Schneider back, I think they should look at it. What's challenging here is the Canucks have the players to trade to rebuild their backend but they are also guys you don't want to move because they are great pieces. This team's start sunk them, and a coaching change was needed, but it's a poorly constructed team with some very good individual talents.

I think this is an overpay. I know Schmidt didn't have a great season but he was real good for Vegas. I'm going to chalk it up as a down year and if Schmidt is traded, I don't think it should be for 1 year of Dumba. Schmidt can play either side, which gives us flexibility in free agency or on the trade front to find a defenceman on either side. I'm not against trading Schmidt, I just think it's the wrong trade with the wrong team.

Vancouver declines, that's a huge overpay. Virtanen for Labanc straight up. Unless you intended that San Jose takes Roussel's contract along with a 2nd round pick, in which case this would make more sense.

80M Cap with 1 Compliance Buyout
I do wonder, given what has transpired if the league will do this if the cap remains flat. Since they told everyone that it was going up and then the league had to suddenly shut down, I think giving teams a compliance buyout would help every team since they are all losing money right now.

There is no point trading him with one season left. Let him mentor Shesterkin as he transitions into the #1 role. You won't get much value back in any trade so just keep him at this point.

Yzerman didn't make many mistakes, but signing Gourde to that contract that early was his biggest. Without that contract this team would be ok cap wise.

Eriksson could help you in your top 9, but it's not a cost saving move cap wise. The Canucks wouldn't have to pay his signing bonus next summer, which would be a plus, but it's more so they make room in their forward group and would add to their D. I like our defence but we are an injury away from being real thin so I think Johnson would actually help the Canucks this season in a 6/7 role.

An Eriksson trade that I think could work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Pittsburgh wins that trade. How much are you saving on the cap for adding 1 year?</div></div>
Fair point, but for the Canucks It's more to clear the roster space. They have cap trouble anyways, so it's not really about saving money as it is making room on the roster to get someone like Baertschi back up. Johnson could help the team right now because Edler/Tanev have a history of injuries and I think Johnson could be fine in that #6 spot as insulation for this season. He would at least provide something that Eriksson is not, that's all. The money is irrelevant for the most part in this deal.
Basically, Johnson becomes a more expensive Alex Biega and for this season that could prove to be somewhat valuable. And in the summer, should the team want to move him, his contract has no restrictions and a smaller hit or he just plays in Utica. The Canucks won't get anything tangible back for Eriksson and he is just $6m in cap space being wasted. I would rather pay $5.75m for a guy who will play some minutes in the 6/7 role than someone who is sitting in the press box every night and contributing nothing up front, while a guy like Baertschi is getting 2 pts a night in the AHL and they can't make room for him.
Eriksson still can still kill penalties and the team has a glut of defensive forwards who are younger and cheaper. If given the right centre he might still be able to score some goals, but he is so unhappy here it's reflecting in his play. It's just time to try and cut bait and make something work on the trade front.

Henrik Lundqvist to San Jose
The trade makes total sense for both sides, but Lundqvist has been steadfast he does not want to leave New York. Given time is ticking maybe he changes his mind but the only way this trade works is if it's Jones + for Lundqvist. Given the season Jones has had, he doesn't carry a ton of value, but I think he is still a good goaltender and would be fine for NYR at this stage of their evolution and costs $3m less than King Henrik.
I'm guessing the deal would need to look like this:
:rangers
Martin Jones
Alex Chmelevski
3rd Rd Pick (2020)
:sharks
Henrik Lundqvist
Rangers eat $1.5m
