Yeah don't think that would be the offer that interests Ottawa the most

Philly would you accept
Sens would be very stupid to trade Greig, I mean they are getting good players here but I would target only one of them and keep Greig.
Chychrun for one of them + picks to balance things out depending on who

You are proposing a similar value for 1 season of him (Merk is probably not worth a 2nd, but he does have some value like a 3rd or 4th). I doubt Chychrun's value has gone up very much since he was traded and he is now a pending UFA, so I wouldn't give up more than a 1st. If the cost is higher, then another team with more picks/prospects is welcome to pay it.</div></div>
Of course Ottawa will be looking to trade Chychrun to a team that would/could extend him, hence not for 1 season``
And not all 1sts are equal, it was a 12th OA pick.
Ottawa would only be interested in that offer if they are interested in Merkulov

Ottawa would have zero interest in that and would much rather buy out Korpisalo
Kleven is not some random prospect. He's easily worth another 1st to Ottawa
Instant decline

Thanks but no thanks
Not only it shouldn't be an objective to add Pageau 2 years x 4.0 AAV but paying Kastelic and a 4th makes it even LESS attractive
There's also absolutely no benefit to trade Kastelic. He's cheap, still young, great on faceoffs, physical and was really good towards the end of the year. KEEP as you'd never get anything worthwhile in a trade for him

Chychrun is worth comfortably more than that, unless he has stated that he would only go to LA?
Zub 100% plays with either Sanderson or Chabot
Ostapchuk is LW or C, would be really surprised if he plays 3rd line RW. The team will need somebody with more experience and proven offense, pressure is to make the playoffs.
Brannstrom doesn't sign that.
Bad Pinto contract for the team, brings him straight to UFA.

I wouldn't trade Brannstrom for picks... but for a similar youngish 2-way forward

12th OA has a lot more value than a random 1st, I thought had a contender's 1st at first but now see that they only have their own pick (which surprised me as they are still rebuilding), you consider that trolling
The thing is we agree in the end :
- without a 1st = not enough
- with the Red Wings 1st = too much

Anyways, tell me more about how Chychrun returns the same or more value than Ottawa paid for him last year, with only a year now remaining on his contract and a season much worse than the one he was putting on in Arizona when he was moved.</div></div>

Since the Wings pick is becoming so valuable yes but a late 1st + 2nd + 3rd + Berggren would be in the ballpark. Of course, non-Wings fans might value Berggren very differently

Chychrun has a 0.49 PPG this season, career 0.46 PPG
Yes he had 0.78 PPG with Arizona last season but it was only in 36 games
While his value might not be as high as it was a year ago, he was still worth 12th OA + two 2nd round picks
As for "certified #1", you have to consider his numbers are on Boston and he only has 1 year left before UFA and even if you ignore the fact that he might not want to extend in Ottawa, it all comes down to the market and I have never seen in the real world a goalie being worth what fans throw around in proposals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazorSeider53</b></div><div>Just a heads up, I believe the OP has been edited. I believe there was a 1st initially in that Chychrun trade, which is why I said <em>"If we're trading a <strong>1st,</strong> 2nd, 3rd, and Berggren, I'd sooner move that for Rasmus Andersson as a natural RHD who's a better defender than Chychrun at roughly the same cost."</em>
And you're not getting a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Berggren for Chychrun <strong>lol</strong>. That's more than what you paid for him last year when he was having a better season and had more time on that contract.</div></div>
Why the lol if you are aware that I was not aware of the 1st before edition?
Also, not all 1sts are equal. Basic stuff

next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>That is ludicrous to think his mind was made up. DeBrincat even hinted he was willing to stay but wanted a massive payday. Dorion believed he would be able to get him signed. Sometimes that's the risk you have to take. Like I said, if this team had a coach that was semi-decent at teaching a defensive structure? We wouldn't be anywhere near where we are in the standings. So most of his moves weren't bad, but became sour with one main decision he refused to acknowledge. One mistake makes many of his moves look worse than they really were.</div></div>
Of course the decision to stick with DJ the whole rebuild hurt everything else but Dorion has made more blunders than any GM I have ever seen
What we have left for
Mika Zibanejad + 33rd OA in 201 + 64th OA in 2018 is ----> Jacob Bernard-Docker
Mark Stone is ----> Erik Brannstrom + Egor Sokolov
Kyle Turris + 4th OA in 2019 + 28th OA in 2017 + 63rd OA in 2019 is ----> Lassi Thomson
Mike Hoffman + 126th OA in 2020 is ----> Philippe Daoust
7th OA in 2022 + 39th OA in 2022 + 2024 3rd round pick (OTT) is ----> 2024 1st round pick (BOS) + 2024 4th round pick (DET) + Donovan Sebrango
10th OA in 2021 is ----> Tyler Boucher
Ryan Dzingel + 212th OA in 2019 + 76th OA in 2023 + 2024 7th round pick (OTT) + 25% retention on Murray AAV is ----> absolutely nothing
Cody Ceci + Ben Harpur + 44th OA in 2023 + 2026 4th round pick (OTT) is ----> 2024 2nd round pick (WSH)
And we're not even talking about the 1st round pick we'll have to forfeit because of the Dadonov situation and all the other blunders
it is INDEFENSIBLE

The question in the end is what is Bourque worth? If he's worth let's say a 12th OA pick, wouldn't that pick + a late first be worth a 6th/7th OA pick?
I understand the desire to keep that 1st but personally I would gamble on Bourque plus another first round pick prospect
