the defence lol
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YEGBRAD</b></div><div>I have zero issues with our defence. Barrie returning is awesome as the Oilers have the NHL's best PP and Barrie finished FIRST in scoring by NHL defenseman. Bear leaving is a bit of a sting but it is necessary to bring in Foegele for the third line, we need depth scoring badly. Ceci had a great year last year in Pittsburgh and he isn't Adam Larsson but he is also almost 1m per season cheaper and brings more experience than Larsson did. The Keith acquisition is the greatest thing ever as you cannot deny what he is going to bring to the team both on and off the ice. Nurse continues to get even better. Russell is so adverse in what he brings to the lineup. Bouchard is going to be a beast in the NHL and will for sure win the Norris in his career at some point.</div></div>

Keith specifically asked to be traded to Canada since he wanted to be closer to his family. Why on earth would he accept a trade to Florida?

Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YEGBRAD</b></div><div>I dislike that a ton of Oilers fans are heavily relying on Holloway to be this stud and make the team this season. Stop putting that high of expectations on the kid and give him a full year in Bakersfield. Holland doesn't bring young kids out of the farm til they are ready and it's the way it should be. We have seen what happens when you rush young guys development.</div></div>
Holland, himself, has said that he didn't really leave players in the AHL to make them 'overripe' before bringing them up. It was a no salary cap era with a hall of fame team. He was able to spend all he wanted every year. If there was no salary cap here this summer, Holland would have signed Hamilton, Hall, Grubauer, Larsson, and Hyman making it impossible for Holloway to make the team. Whereas Edmonton was a bottom feeder for years and their 1st overall players always made the team out of the gate, which isn't that unusual, actually it is the norm. Holloway just came off a season that is one of the best ever for a player right after his draft season. Many comparable players coming out of the NCAA had and played in their draft+2 season, some had an instant impact, and some had an impact in their draft+3 season. So, if Holloway plays this year, their is a good chance he has an impact and it won't be out of the ordinary.
Players Holloway outscored in their Draft+1 seasons:
Heatley(26G), Keller(23G), Larkin(23G) and Toews(24G) contributed 23 or more goals in their D+2 season.
Connor(31G), Boeser(29G), and Vanek(25G) contributed 25 or more goals in their D+3 season.
Schwartz(25G), Parise(31G), and Higgins(23G) contributed 23 or more goals in their D+4 season.

Only Nasty or Stupid Comments Please
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YEGBRAD</b></div><div>My first hot take is no way Yams signs at that. He'll land around 2.25-2.5
Secondly you are giving Hyman waaaaaaaay too much credit. He will be an awesome addition to our top 6 no doubt and the team is undeniably better at 11am today than it was at 11pm last night but don't give Hyman credit for making Toronto's top line what it was.</div></div>
From when Edmonton played Toronto, Hyman was the best player on his line. He caused all sorts of havoc around the net and dominated the Oilers. Also, I specifically asked for nasty and stupid comments and yours is reasoned and thoughtful.

Pretty easy don't ****ing sign Barrie (+5.5). Khaira isn't getting a raise (+0.5). Yamamoto isn't getting 3.5M on a bridge (+1). Larsson isn't getting 5M (+1) Ennis, Chaisson and Kahun won't be re-signed (+5) Turris Buried (+1) Klefbom onto LTIR (+4) . Oh look there's his cap space.. 18M is easily enough to upgrade #1LW, and 3rd line

Edmonton Oilers Part 2 Of Today
I don’t think nudge gets more than 6.5 million AAV personally he might get term though. Also from the sounds of it broberg will need a season in the AHL before he arrives. Jones will be good enough to play 1st pairing in about a year beside larsson or Barrie IMO. The bottom pair will have someone like William Lagesson on the left. 2nd pair either Klefbom or Nurse Beside bear one of which gets traded or retires.

Bear will sign a short term deal after klefbom’s LTIR comes off the books on day 2 of the season. If they were smart they’d sign him to a 5-6 year 4 million deal.

Draisaitl is the best face-off guy on the oilers, and McDavid's barely had any turnovers against Chicago

Leafs have added two legit top 4 dmen since the contracts were signed (Leafs biggest weakness). I'm really not that concerned that Kappy had to go (got a great return) and Robertson was going to make Johnsson expendable if not this year then next. So I don't see any hinderance yet.

Thats true, just stand there and keep your stick on the ice, you'll get at least 15.
I see the Kahun pick up like the Canes and Bracco. If it works out, awesome! If not, no harm done.

This kind of thing makes me worried about how much the Rangers are going to have to pay Zibanejad when his contract is up in 2 years. He currently makes around half of the amount this formula would give him! (I will not begrudge paying the man because he's been my favourite since before he took off and he's such a steal now but they're gonna have to be careful with their cap space!)

I still think jp was the right choice wasn’t my top choice but wasn’t expecting him to be an option. I don’t buy into Columbus saw something and passed on him. PLD was picked ahead of him because he played C for the second half that junior year and Columbus desperately needed a C. Everything that happened afterwards was oilers management and decisions that hurt jp progression. Keeping anyone with lucic that long was asking for disaster.
