Oh and both have as much term as marner or more</div></div>

Draisaitl had a 9 point season to his name (37gp) as a 19 year old, a 51 point season as a 21 year old, and 77 point season, 29 goals as a 22 year old. They gave him an 8.5M deal (equivalent to 9.2 with today's cap) that many lauded as being absolutely egregiously bad. The next year as a 23 year old he followed it up with a 70 point year, he got WORSE. Then he blossomed into a 100+ point guy as a 24-25 year old.

Marner, made his debut as a 19 year old and had a 61 point season followed by a 69 point season. He then had 26 goals 94 points playing with Tavares as a 21 year old. To that point in his career his was 10th in points per 60 minutes, 5th in primary assists per 60 minutes. He was 8th in raw primary assists league wide and 21st overall in total points since making his debut. As a 21 YEAR OLD.

He followed up that year by scoring on pace for 92 points this season (22g 70a) as a 22 year old. He has done infinitely more before turning 23 than Draisaitl had. He could easily surpass Draisaitl in point totals. It's also worth mentioning, that with those increased point totals, Draisaitl is TERRIBLE defensively, where-as marner is exceptional and regularly plays on the penalty kill and acts as a fantastic 2 way winger when he's not setting up highlight reel goals

As for McDavid, he's McDavid. He does everything; Marner is a fantastic playmaker, not remotely as good a skater or goal scorer as McDavid. I'm talking about ability to setup goals, which is what Marner is good at. He's among the best in the league in that part of the game, which is the point I was trying to prove

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lyle_Bubas</b></div><div>the only player who has scored more goals since Matthews entered the league is ovechkin. Make it 5v5 and matthews is #1 at 113g, McDavid and Ovi being 2nd/3rd

Tavares is 7th on that list, 8th at 5v5. If you take just his time with the leafs he's 10th overall in goals and 4th at 5v5.

Marner is a playmaker, he doesn't score goals, he sets up goals. How many primary assists does he have? Since he entered the league only 6 guys had more (Drai, Kane, Kuch, Panarin, Wheeler, and McDavid). At 5v5 he's 5th, behind Drai, Kane, Panarin and McDavid. He's way younger than all those guys and signed through his prime.

Not sure how you can say those guys are overpaid, or that somehow having them on the roster for their respective cap hits is a bad thing. 2 of the 3 are basically children and they've toppped the league in goals and playmaking since they hit the ice.

Once they get older they'll improve even more. Marner by the time he's 28 is prob a 110 point guy and I'd put money on Matthews or Tavares winning the Rocket Richard in the next couple years, potentially multiple times. Matthews sniffed it as a rookie for god's sake, tied with Kuch and fell 4 goals short of Crosby</div></div>
