Wowza. Oh, I get it. You just post opposite of reality. Your posts make much more sense now.

What are the last things we need? Yet another LD and a checking line guy. And for this we give up a depth scorer on the rise who plays 200 ft. and our best bottom six guy.
That's a very stern no, followed a huge eye roll once we turn our back.

Yeah, two bottom 6 guys and a 3rd for a top-4D, a bottom 6 guy, and a 5th. You are right, Hilarious.

Pettersson is considered to be a "top-4" guy by the professional bloggers (ie: hockey writers). Sundqvist is bottom 6. Is.

Ha. If Oiler fans don't want Riikola for a 6th, then maybe the Pens should keep him. Looking at their roster he would easily slot in as the #2LD... but yeah, they pass on sending a 6th for him.
But in all seriousness, a hard no to Anderson. No need or desire for a 40 year old G that plays like a 45 year old G.

Multiple McCann Trades
Why trade McCann? Period...
LA: McCann, 2nd for 1st - Fair
Car: McCann, 4th for Bean - Advantage Carolina, small, but advantage
Bos: McCann, 3rd for Carlo - Big advantage Pittsburgh.
Buf: McCann, 4th for Mittelstadt - Big advantage Buffalo.
To reiterate my first comment, there is zero reason, ZERO, to trade McCann. But... Pittsburgh is in "win-now" mode so they wouldn't do the LA, Carolina, or Buffalo trades as none of those help now at all, especially the Buffalo one. The only one that would actually help the Penguins is the Boston one, and Boston isn't touching that trade.

Bad trade for Pittsburgh. Sundqvist is not a good contract. Sanford is okay. But if you are giving up (someone that is considered to be) a top-4 D you get more than an okay 3rd liner and a bad contract back.
Also, Sullivan ran both Sundqvist and Reaves out of town so he has no interest in those two returning.

Eller, Hagelin, 5th for McCann, Blueger, 2nd, 3rd
Great trade for Washington.
I am a big fan of Eller as 3C, but Hagelin is negative value, more than the 5th offsets. Eller is on par with McCann. Pittsburgh is basically just giving away Blueger, 2nd, 3rd, plus taking on Hagelin's negative value.

Three Way Trade
Pittsburgh trades a 1st, DeSmith, Sceviour for 36 year old $3.5Mx2 Fleury? No, not even a chance. Not even Rutherford. DeSmith and Sceviour alone for 36 year old $3.5Mx2 Fleury is too much from Pittsburgh. Fleury is not worth $3.5Mx2, so Pittsburgh isn't "paying" for him. Sceviour to help with the cap, okay.
Pittsburgh gives Sceviour, 6th for Fleury $3.5Mx2. Detroit can get whatever they can from Vegas for the retention, even pass Sceviour along to Vegas if they want. No 1st from Pittsburgh. No DeSmith without more coming to Pittsburgh from Vegas/Detroit. DeSmith@$1.25Mx2 > Fleury@$3.5Mx2
Pittsburgh portion only:
Sceviour, 6th for Fleury at $3.5Mx2 (maybe not even the 6th)
Or
Sceviour, DeSmith for Fleury at $3.5Mx2, 3rd
A 1st... yikes.

Hopkins for Pettersson, Jankowski, Almeida, 2nd
I am okay with this only because I think that Pettersson is going to falter, not develop. Edmonton fans are so used to losing and losers that they grossly over value Hopkins. Hopkins couldn't lead a thirsty horse to water if they were standing in the middle of a stream. But he is okay for the Pens to put out for 1 year at $3.75M, at the cost of a 2nd, a meh prospect, a bottom 6 F, and a D who's 15 minutes is almost up.

Using Cap Space to Full Advantage
Panik, Fjallby for Helm ($1.925M ret) only saves the Caps $825K, and frankly, Panik is the better player than Helm at this point in career, sure, not much, but still. The Caps are not going to pay Fjallby for this flip. ($825K in savings for a lesser player)
Neither of these trades really weaponize the Wings cap space, much less take full advantage of it.

Fleury Rumors - Thoughts
I know Caps fans love to bring in ex-Penguins, best way to be them without wearing black and gold, right.
However, Fleury is not the same goalie that he was in Pittsburgh. He really isn't worth $3.5Mx2 cap hit to a team that legitimately spends to the cap.
In any $3.5M retention scenario, Vegas would be paying a middle team to Take Fleury, retain the $3.5M then hand Fleury off to the end team. The end team would not be giving up much at all as 36yo $3.5Mx2 Fleury is not something that you "pay" for, and Vegas would be getting nothing in return, except $7M in cap space.
Something like:
Fleury, 1st to middle team for FC's (could be a bust of a prospect, just something with no real value)
Fleury with middle team retaining $3.5Mx2 <-> 5th from end team
Vegas: $7M in cap space for a 1st
Middle team: 1st, 5th for retention
End team: Fleury at $5.3M for a 5th

Hagelin isnt worth the 2.75m for 2 more years from a bruins perspective. we have plenty of bottom 6 options. the offer isnt worth doing from a bruins aspect.</div></div>
The Bruins point of view in my point is not relevant, at all, because the Capitals would never have put forth the trade suggestion from go. Period. The trade suggestion would never have tabled so the perceived values are not relevant.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hanson493</b></div><div>Did you miss the end where i said i DONT LIKE RASK... but regarless, so they signed lundqvist this offseason to not play? makes sense to me. they signed a veteran goaltender to split time with samsonov until hes ready for fulltime net work. What happens if samsonov stinks. Lundqvist was supposed to be the insurance option. Almost any team in the league would take rask as their goalie including the capitals. However...
You do realize that Holtby was the hands down starter last year? You realize the capitals didnt want to commit big aav or term to the guy cuz he was not having good seasons year in and year out look at his 5 year stat line. Got hot for the cup run and thats really it. Im not saying they dont want to eventually transition to samsonov... but I think we would have seen more of him last year if it was "his net" right now. You dont sign Henrik Lundqvist if Samsonov is your bonafide starting goaltender.</div></div>
You are missing the point.
And a $1.5M free agent option is miles apart from a $3.5M one that also cost Alexeyev, Johansen, and Hagelin to acquire. But I dont expect you to understand that either.

Holtby had a 3.11 gaa and a .897 save percentage. Samsonov had a 2.55 gaa and a .913 save percentage. Rask had a 2.12 gaa and a .929 save percentage. Im pretty sure the caps would take rask in a heartbeat if the right deal popped up and samsonov would 100% be on the bench. Numbers arent close. But yeah I bet the caps would rather have a kid with 26 games played in the nhl try and lead their team to a stanley cup lmao. I dont even like rask, quality of goalie though 1 of those 3 is not like the others.</div></div>
Taaaakkke the home glasses oooff. I even spelled it our for you any you went homer AGAIN. I never metioned or hinted at any kind of relation to the Rask/Samsonov/Holtby greatness tree.
The point is the the Caps want Samsonov to take the net, they do not want to give it to anyone else.
Nobody cares what Rask's stats are, nobody cares what Holtby's stats are, nobody even cares what Sansonov's stats are. The point is... LOOK>>>> the point is that the Caps want to give the net to Samsonov, Don't say Rask again. Don't compare Rask to anyone, nobody cares. It's Samsonov's net. That is the point.
