Detroit Takes Stutzle

I agree, they need steady guys to support Chabot and Brannstrom, instead. And a big reason Pinto was drafted was because of his relationship with Norris, Tkachuk, and L. Brown.

I'm not a fan of adding any more bad contracts beyond next season. You're hoping for Development next year, but you still expecting them to be bad. Beyond that, I want the sens to be icing a competitive roster.</div></div>
I don't expect them to be bad. I think they will be icing a competitive roster, but they also need to leave cap space for their younger players, and Lucic will fill that space until Ottawa's younger players will need contract extensions. He'll also provide physicality, experience...etc for 3 years. His contract sucks but Ottawa can take advantage of their cap space for now.

Yeah, I didn't put much thought into where I was sending him, I just thought he's a great offensive D-man and would be good running a PP with McDavid

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Lucic's contract is just too long for it to ever make sense imo</div></div>
Well it would be three years left on his contract, so it would expire before Lafrenière and Stützle would need to be resigned. And Bobby Ryan's contact would be expiring before Lucic's too. So Ottawa has room to take advantage under the salary cap.

Yeah I agree about the pick, I just did this because it looked better :tearsofjoy . Though I think they shouldn't get the SJ pick and Batherson AND be able to get rid of Lucic's contract. But yeah, it probably needs to be the SJ pick going to Calgary to make them accept anything close.

Draft and Cirelli
Logan Brown hasn't been great but he still has a really high ceiling. I don't see Ottawa doing this trade, especially not throwing in the NYI 1st rounder in this deep draft.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Green4D4Again</b></div><div>I am for this if Ottawa lands Byfield and say Rossi/Drysdale. Nothing wrong with letting them marinate in the minors. Give them 9-game trials and send them down to dominate their own leagues respectively. Laf and Stutzle are both NHL ready, though. I'd hope that Ottawa stays in lottery territory for another couple of years to land someone like Raty or Wright.</div></div>
I think Ottawa, though not great yet, is too good to be competing for the 1st overall pick again next year. With a growing core of young players, what will now be the second year under DJ Smith, and the additions of Lafrenière and/or Stützle, Ottawa will definitely be better next season. Even without adding players from this year's draft, Ottawa will improve. And honestly, I don't think Sens fans have enough patience to endure another year of being in lottery territory. Ottawa, after this draft, should have all the right pieces to be a contender soon.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I think they will as well, but the inner Sens fan in me is deeply concerned about how much the loss of revenue will impact the Sens willingness to give out expensive contracts in the recent future.</div></div>
That is a really valid concern, but I think the Sens have been saving a lot of money the last few years by staying near the cap floor and having little office staff. And they've barely filled half the building this season so it's not like this will have that big of an impact on the team, they've been kind of used to not selling tickets. If anything, Melnyk will have to get a loan or sell a part of the team to someone who can help give out those expensive contracts. I don't know, I'm optimistic. I feel like the Sens have hit rock bottom and they can only rise from here.

Then which way does it work? He is a defensive d-man. If he can be like what Methot was to Karlsson, I say he's good on that top pair with Chabot until Bernard-Docker or Thomson are ready to take that position. Right now, it's either Zub or Zaitsev on that top pair with Chabot.

Ottawa would be really smart to get that contract done this summer, like they did with Chabot. Tkachuk could have a huge breakout next year, and getting him done now could be the difference between him at 7 vs him at 9.</div></div>
6.5 million would be a huge steal, but hopefully it can be done. As you said, $7 million now is much better than $9 million in a few years. I think they will lock him up this summer like they did with Chabot and White.

Agree, I would resign him for much cheaper and I would assume he'd want to stay settled in Ottawa as well, especially when their competing and doing well

Why would Ottawa need to include a 1st. Smith alone can get Ottawa a 1st rounder, he's not a player the team is trying to get rid of. They won't trade him if they don't get the right offer, because he's actually really valuable. Burrows on the other hand isn't good, but that doesn't mean Ottawa is gonna give up a 1st rounder to get rid of Burrows

Trade deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMhockey99</b></div><div>It's amazing how people like you troll and if I report it I get a infraction. And if I troll I get a infraction. This site is just full of trolls. Do I comment on your stuff? No I don't so stop commenting and trolling mine. Its just a fun thing and everyone takes it as literal trades, it's funny. Most trades on here won't happen.</div></div>
It's amazing how people like you can't take any simple criticism. The comments section is here for people to voice their thoughts on whatever others do. This time, your trades are not good, so expect to get heavy criticism. Yes the trades aren't real but people can get offended at how other people see the value of players on their teams. Both Brassard and Pacioretty have underachieved. So a one for one trade is enough, no need for the draft pick from Ottawa. Also, Saad for Karlsson would start riots on Parliament hill. Maybe try adding draft picks and a prospect or something to make the trade more reasonable. Same thing, White isn't getting traded anywhere. Him and Chabot are untouchables. That's why Ottawa had to include Nashville as a trading partner to get Duchene from the Avs while not giving up Chabot who the Avs really wanted.
Sorry if you're not enjoying the criticism, but expect to get comments, whether good or bad based off the posts you make, it's why the comments section is brought here in the first place.

Add the goalies and this is overcap. Not to mention, where are Pyatt? Stalberg? Methot? I'm pretty sure Ottawa would protect Methot and get Phaneuf to waive his NMC. Dzingel and Ceci have not earned the money you've given them either.

Sedins Summer Blockbuster
Hoffman and Dzingel can produce more than the aged sedins, throw in a first round pick from Ottawa and this trade is a mess. Maybe if Vancouver adds Tanev, but as it is, the trade would be a devastating loss for Ottawa.
