In truth the one obstacle to ottawa's rebuild is Melnyk himself</div></div>
This honestly needs to stop, people who don't know anything about the Sens should do their research before being "concerned" about Ottawa's owner. Ottawa signed Chabot for 8 years, signed White for 6 years, Melnyk even overpaid for Ryan, giving him a contract of over $50 million, and Tkachuk and the rest of the young core will get signed.
As for this trade, it's bad, hard pass from Ottawa. I'll take Byfield and Stützle or maybe even Lafrenière and Byfield over Eichel, unless Buffalo considers adding in Dahlin, then there can be some kind of discussion from there, which Buffalo would never do. So this just falls apart, would not work for either team

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>The league will begin to be scared of the sens once uncle Eugene starts to pay his talent and keeps them 😉</div></div>
honestly, I'm incredibly thankful they never paid Stone $13 million a season, or Karlsson $13 million a season, or whoever else. The team has been smart and they've committed to the young core that we have. Chabot 8 years, White 6 years, Tkachuk, Batherson ... etc. will all mostly be locked. Eugene has been foolish sometimes but he has also been extremely passionate about the team and he wants to see it win. His passion sometimes makes him say things that he shouldn't. Melnyk will pay up <strong>when necessary</strong> just as the team has done under him in the past. I think people forget of the incredible teams Ottawa iced in the past under Melnyk.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15</b></div><div>Seriously? Did you not read what I wrote? Chabot signed a nice long term deal early with a limited NMC. That doesn’t make him the marker by which you pay all the rest of your players does it? Do you just pretend that there is no inflation, no cap increases, no understanding that circumstances in the world are different now? Honestly I don’t care what Ottawa does I’m just giving my opinion. Oh and I wasn’t suggesting he get $11M, but $9-9.5M I could see. And $1M/yr is a lot of money.</div></div>
Clearly I read what you said :tearsofjoy And it's ludicrous. Chabot was just signed last year, I think Tkachuk gets paid less than Chabot, and there hasn't been that much inflation in one year to send Tkachuk from 7 to $9.5 million. If anything, because of this pandemic, there might be the opposite of inflation. Feel free to give your opinion and accept the criticism that it earns instead of going all defensive

Chabot got $ 8 million on his 8 year contract. Chabot is worth more than Tkachuk and you said Tkachuk should get "a LOT more" than $8.5 million, which would make no sense. If Tkachuk gets $ 11 million or something like that, the Sens are doomed lol, they need space to sign lots of players to big deals in the next few years.

This is tough but I think Ottawa has enough non top-line centermen on their team, they need RD, and strong ones, to play with Chabot and Brannstrom. I also don't think Ottawa needs a Korczak with Chabot, Brannstrom, and Wolanin in the system. If I'm Ottawa, I am keeping JBD and Lassi Thomson for my top-4

Well, he's really close with Norris, White, and Tkachuk. I think he can be moved to the left-wing or Colin White moved to the right-wing for L. Brown to take the centre position.
Maybe:
Stützle - Byfield - Batherson
L. Brown - Norris - Tkachuk
Formenton - White - C. Brown
Maybe Duclair somewhere too if he's not traded

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gabriel11</b></div><div>I think that is an overpay for arvidsson. He is good but isn't having the greatest year</div></div>
I agree. I'm not sure why people have given up on Logan Brown. He's been good in the AHL and in the NHL each time he's been up. Only problem with him is his injuries and peripheral play, but hopefully with more time he'll be better than Arvidsson. Not to mention Gustavsson, who is still really young, being added to the trade. Ottawa has traded goalies before too early and got burned in those trades, they shouldn't be moving him yet. Maybe the 1st and another player like Connor Brown or someone else for Arvidsson. But again no need, Ottawa has the players or will have them in its system soon to fill those spots. I think of when Ottawa traded Silfverberg, Noesen, and a first for Bobby Ryan, when Silfverberg just needed more time with the team.

I don't even see him getting $8.5 million, I am thinking something closer to $7 million, and that is for him giving up multiple UFA years. He has been good but not $8.5 million good.

Ottawa Senators Playoff Lines 2022 after losing 2020 NHL Lottery
I really don't understand the signings in this. Where to begin? Tierney getting a $20 million contract? That Brown and Zub contract too, they're horrible, especially Zub's, and buying out Zaitsev :grimace ? In 2022, Ottawa won't need Bellemare. Instead, where is Formenton in this line-up, who should be playing on the left-wing instead? Borowiecki will not be taking that contract, he'll want more term after his strong season. As for Colin White, if he's going to stay with Ottawa for that long term with his contract, at least put him as a third line centre, instead of Tierney. White has skill, he's still growing and should be good by 2022, despite an underwhelming 2019/2020 showing. Tierney can be traded or simply let go if he wants that kind of money. I also don't get why Ottawa would sign Wayne Simmonds, it just doesn't make any sense. I'd rather have Colin White play on the right wing on the top line with his friend Tkachuk than on the fourth line. And what about Logan Brown? I believe L. Brown is projected to be in the line-up by 2022 or traded if the team loses hope in him, I don't think there will be low $900,000 signings for him in 2022. And you signed Connor Brown to almost <strong>$30 million</strong> to play on the fourth line, come on.
How about:
Stützle - Byfield - Batherson
Tkachuk - Norris - White
Duclair - L. Brown - Ryan
Formenton - Pinto - Abramov
Balcers - Paul
Connor Brown can be traded or signed for less money and placed where Bobby Ryan is, and Ryan demoted to the fourth line, depending on how this season goes for him. Despite what others think of the Sens' management, I have faith in them doing the right thing. Don't forget, Sens have so many draft picks this year and next year, so players can keep coming in and changing. Ottawa doesn't need to stick to players on the team now that are average, like Tierney. This team is going to be amazing.

Chabot is better than Dahlin and shouldve been drafted 3rd overall in 2015
There is a reason he was named the best player of the world junior's in 2016. When Chabot is playing with Lafrenière (or Stützle), Byfield, Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Formenton ...etc., his production will go up. Both Chabot and Dahlin are incredibly smooth and gifted. No need to compare them now, both are really good and they're a little different.

Gustavson was shaky this year, should rebound. Hogberg was actually really good this year. Makes no sense to trade him. Hoffman has horrible character, no team wants him, he and his fiancé caused chaos in the Senators' locker room which is probably what caused the entire team to fall apart, and there is no need for Taylor Hall. I'd rather have Formenton, alone, than Dougie Hamilton, let alone all the other assets you gave away for him. Formenton is already amazing, even as a rookie in the AHL, and his speed will look incredible with the Sens, Ottawa would not give him away for that.

Unpopular Opinion but Pierre Dorion is a really good GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EzioUchiha</b></div><div>Outlier trades just like the Matt Duchene trade. No one expected Sharks and Sens to sink to the bottom of the league right after trading for Erik Karlsson and Matt Duchene trade respectively. Sakic and Dorion look like genius w/ those trades but I'm sure both NEVER expected to get a top pick. Aside from that, Dorion is a bad GM. Traded Hoffman, Stone (Stone is worth Brannstrom++), Zibanejad (yeah Brassard was key in the Sens' ECF run but Sens were still impatient w/ Zibanejad's development).
Dorion is actually a pretty good scout but a bad GM. Bryan Murray is an example of good GM because he was able to build and maintain a good team despite having Melnyk.</div></div>
To be fair, at the time, Brannstrom was seen as a future Karlsson, with a really high ceiling, which he still has. Brannstrom could be better than Stone. Brannstrom is honestly really good, he just needs a few years to grow and improve. And Dorion tried hard to get a first rounder from teams but he said that no team would give it, and Stone would've walked away as an FA, apparently his contract in LV, if signed in Ottawa, is equivalent to $13 million. Dorion got what he good, and Brannstrom is excellent. Not to mention, he got a pick which he used to trade up and get a potential goalie of the future, Sogaard

I don't see the Atlantic like that honestly. The Leafs' defence isn't great, Montreal isn't great, Detroit is Detroit, perhaps Buffalo will be a little better, panthers are the panthers, and Bruins and Lightning will still be really good but Marchand is turning 32, Bergeron 35, Hedman 30, and Stamkos is 30. Yes, all these teams have really good up and coming players but I think Ottawa has the players to compete with those teams in a few years.

Dorion said the Sens will be taking the best players, regardless of their position, with those two picks. And the Sens already have good D-prospects, so I don't see them going for Drysdale, though if they do, I'm not complaining. Ottawa has Jacob Bernard-Docker and Lassi Thomson, hopefully they'll be in the top 4, and they can draft other d-men later in the draft. If Byfield and Stützle are as good as scouts are saying they are, I don't see how Ottawa can miss their chance. Drysdale is really good but I don't think it's smart for Ottawa to draft a d-man so high in their draft when the forwards are too good to miss.
If anything, Ottawa might draft Rossi because he plays with the 67's and because he's more consistent. But I don't think Drysdale.
