Yeah, I feel like the abs are done for free agency. Maybe you try to package Jost and a pick for a more established top 6 player...but I think Joe is about done.

If Jost takes a step forward this year they’ll be a really tough team to beat.
Much more with Byram and Newhook in another season.

His value is probably the highest right now. If he had some term I imagine we would have shopped him for a RNH-caliber 2C.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>I respect the approach to be honest, they went big game hunting on Panarin and Panarin alone, he was the only guy they felt was worthy to go 7 years, 8m+ on. They didn't get him so they shifted focus to build depth. Lots of Avs fan were why didnt we give over 7m to get Lee, or 6m to get Nyquist etc. That was not their targets and clearly didnt feel like they had to panic and sign a big contract just bc they didnt hit Panarin.
I think Avs are a much deeper team today and thats what they needed. They already have the elite talent</div></div>
Exactly. Panarin was the big splash they were looking to make and the Donskoi/Kadri plan was a contingency to not overreact should that fall out. This team has a few good breakout candidates and looks way more balanced. I view Bura and Donskoi kind of similar in they could produce top 6 points given the right opportunity. It isn't the splashiest or sexiest team update, but it solves our need for depth and legitimate 2nd line skill.

As a big leafs fan, enjoy kadri! Hes a great #2 guy when he plays with some more creative wingers, I see him getting back to 25+ Goals easily. Rosen could be a good option on the 3rd pair, but he hasn't had much experience so he needs to be protected.</div></div>
Yeah, I admittedly don't know much about him. I imagine he came the other way with Johnson and Cole missing the first part of the season due to summer surgeries. Not sure who is better between him or Connauton though. I'm excited to see what lines get rolled out opening night!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>I am satisfied with the outcome of today. I think the Avs solved a lot of issues and were able to take a bit of a gamble moving on from Barrie even with Cole and EJ on the mend.
I think its a very solid 4 lines now, lines 2 and 3 will be very hard to play against and the 2nd line will be fun to see it come together. Kadri is a legit 2C who can hold his own and drive play. Thats what Avs need as much as I believe in Jost, its nice to have that cost controlled safety net there</div></div>
Well said. The key here is "cost controlled." Sakic could have backed up the money truck to add to our top 6, instead he dealt a player who was gone after this season for a well rounded 2C who is signed on a team friendly deal for 3 more seasons.

Avs fan here. I liked the trade for both teams! To answer your question, I had Kerfoot pegged around 3.25M when making previous ACGM teams. Hope that helps!

The potential to make more after this contract would mean he still stays in SJ. You would have to overpay to get him to leave</div></div>
Do you think the sharks team will be better or worse than last season?

I like it a lot. Definitely would mean future cap issues, but this lineup gives us two solid years to push for the cup. (When Landeskog’s contract expires)

Just to be clear, avs are going to help Vegas out of their cap bind by trading their first round pick for a 50 point winger. I want to make sure I’m following.

Let Sven walk. No need to light $2M on fire with guys Kamenev who can fill that role.
That’s about 1M too much and two years too many for JTC and AK in my opinion. They should line their contracts up for when Nate’s expires so they can liquidate those two contracts into Nate’s raise.

Agreed. If they move Barrie it is for a top 6 forward. I’ll just be over here beating my “Barrie for RNH” drum.

Hmmm I respect that you didn’t have everyone signing for unrealistic cap hits. I’ve seen a lot of:
Lebanc: 2.75M
Meier:4.5M
Donskoi:2M
Pavs: 4M
Thornton:900K
Gus:4M
Look, it works!
I still think Gus gets more and Meier reminds me of ROR the year the flames offer sheeted him. I’d love the abs to take a stab at a 6.5M offersheet for him.

Meh, doesn’t seem like the direction they are looking to go. Barrie should be moved for a legit 2nd line player that can be the centerpiece of that line. Avs window just opened so they aren’t going to move him for a middle 6 winger (I like Kap btw) a cap dump, and picks.
I’d like to see a deal start with either Karlsson out of Vegas or RNH out of Edmonton.
