I think the Leafs would do that for Barrie, especially if they can extend him. Would like to keep the 1st but packaging Kappy with Marleau for a solid RD works.

Conditional 1st on re-signing would be better.

I tend to agree. Hard to part with that first rounder since we traded last years. Hard to determine value in this trade, Barrie is an impending UFA (and those trades tend to get less) but with the Marleau addition it's a weird balance. I think that's a trade both fanbases would be conflicted about, which probably makes it a good trade.

I do like the trade but i don't think kap and 3rd is enough for barrie. I think they're going to have to attached a first to anything to get someone to take marleaus contract, and by doing this trade we essentially drop out of free agency bids. I think Bracco would have to be added to the scenario as well or one of their defense prospects.
I do think gaining their first in a marleau dump is a good idea as we can use that as a trading chip and possibly still have a first next season.

Lol offer sheeting Burakovsky? You'll get him for way less in a trade. Also, that you overpay him.
Buying out Marleau doesn't make a lot of sense. You're wasting over 6,000,000 cap space while this team is ready to take the next step.

Avs do need more secondary scoring and this middle 6 is not good enough, especially that 2nd line.

Meh, doesn’t seem like the direction they are looking to go. Barrie should be moved for a legit 2nd line player that can be the centerpiece of that line. Avs window just opened so they aren’t going to move him for a middle 6 winger (I like Kap btw) a cap dump, and picks.

I’d like to see a deal start with either Karlsson out of Vegas or RNH out of Edmonton.
