I watched my favorite team lift the cup 5 times in my lifetime lol. Went to every home playoff game for all of 2016 and 2017. Shared a beer with geno at the 2017 cup parade . They are the undisputed best team of the cap era?
Enjoy the continued pain of watching the oilers fizzle out in the playoffs lmao</div></div>
So we have both witnessed our favorite team win 5 cups. I will enjoy the next years while Edmonton is in the playoffs. Maybe in 10-15 years you can say the same.

Keep drinking the koolaid! Edmonton isnt going to keep the garbage thats why they will buy him out. You are in for years and years of pain being a Pens fan.

you cant say literally and then put up the wrong amount of goals.
He had 28 goals.

He hasn't scored 30 since 2017-18. He probably wont ever score that many again. With the cap going up 4-5 million each year that 1.7million in buyout money isnt that bad.

Edmonton is the one who turns down this trade. They will just buy out Campbell this offseason. The buyout is less then retaining half, there is no way they would ever retain on Campbell.

Offseason
Edmonton my guess is they are going to just buyout Campbell in the offseason. They have skinner as their starter and they will either resign pickard as the back up or find another veteran backup around 1.0-1.5 million.

If the cap is going up and Karlsson is still good why would Pit want to keep him? There is no team that is going to give up any type of good asset at 100% salary.

Can we recreate roster from the fringes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>Again in the salary cap world teams will look at everything. O'Reilly does the same production and only sign a little over 3 million. Stephenson has great chemistry with certain players on the Knights and as the Knights changed their players, his defensive stats and offensive stats have hurt a bit this year. Mainly on the defensive.
This is why I can see all scenarios happening. Many thought O'Reilly would sign a 4.5 million plus multi year last year and didn't. At the same time many though klingberg would sign a bare minimum deal but got 4.5 million out of Toronto. The cap makes some players unpredictable and I can see where Stephenson can be one of the players.
That being said, I do admit that I can see some teams signing him for much more, he is a good player deserving of a raise compared to others.</div></div>
O'Reilly was 2.5 years older when he singed his last contract as to when Stephenson will be signing his. Age played a big factor in what O'Reilly singed for.

Can we recreate roster from the fringes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>As previously pointed. I can see all scenarios. I can see a team signing him for 6 million and regretting it as a main reason for his production was with the Knights and being he misfits. This year while still good hasn't been as good. I can see a team signing him 6 million and loving it with him being a great player. I can also see few teams offering him he raise he wants and where a deal like Toronto's gives him one more chance to cash in.</div></div>
He will be 30 when he signs his next contract. There is no incentive to sign a one year deal. He will sing a 6 million 5 year deal on his next contract.
If he signs a 1 year at 3.5 million what kind of upside does he really get? Even if he hits 60-70 points.
