Incredibly bad and then on top of that 3 mil in retention. Plus it’s the leafs so there’s a good chance that will be a very late first rounder because despite failure in the playoffs, very good regular season team.</div></div>
It’s 1 season of Hellebuyck as a UFA. 1 season. Not 5, not 4, not 3, not 2, just 1. Not only that, but Hellebuyck has made it clear that he has no interest in being part of the Jets team going forward. The only way Cheveldayoff says no to this deal is if some team gives him a better offer. Which could happen but not likely. Considering how most of these playoff teams have their goaltending situation already figured out. There’s only a small handful of teams that would be willing to give up this much for a rental Conor Hellebuyck. It certainly won’t be Buffalo, they’re not even at a playoff contending level yet.

Yeah the Leafs can’t and won’t Re-sign him. Joseph Woll is Toronto’s future goalie. Hellebuyck is a rental. In case you don’t know what a rental is. It’s when a playoff team trades for a player on an expiring contract with the hopes of that player helping their post-season run.

What on earth are you talking about. This trade is an easy yes for Cheveldayoff. This team is literally OP, and easily the best and most realistic Armchair GM roster on this site by far. How about some damn acknowledgement for once?
Funny how you get 20+ comments whenever you make a bad team, but when you make a flawless team like this one. One that is within grasps. Zero comments, but then there still has to be at least one dude that slides into the comment board spewing utter nonesense.
We both know 2 first rounders, Samsanov, and Robertson is one hell of an offer for one year of Hellebuyck. Samsanov is an RFA. That alone makes the deal worth looking at for Winnipeg. Then you have 3 years of a defensemen that can play top four minutes as well.

The only problem with the trade is getting Nurse to waive his NMC. It will have to come with a defiant standoff between Nurse, his agent, and the Oilers team. Which will have to make it clear to Nurse that they no longer want him on their team. For example, bench him and don’t play him in games. Until he agrees to waive his NMC. It would definitely be a process.

Meaning they can't move him for good future assets. San Jose won't be competitive for 5 years minimum. Ownership doesn't want valuable expensive assets sitting on the roster that can help the rebuild. Nurse is the exact opposite of what San Jose needs.</div></div>
I think any deal for Karlsson will come with the other teams worst contract. From there the Sharks will demand more significant pieces. Draft picks, prospects, etc. I think a deal for Karlsson will definitely cost more than what I stated. At least another 1st round pick at the minimum.

Erik Karlsson was top 20 among all D defensively this season. 17th in loose puck recoveries. 16th In blocked passes. Erik Karlsson was also among the top 50 in shots blocked this season. Needless to say, Karlsson is as good if not better defensively.

Seriously though, Boeser is getting paid 1.1 million more than TK and has less points in more games, and Dries is 29 and only played one full NHL season with numbers of a 4th liner. No thanks.
Edit: After doing further research Dries had stints in five different NHL seasons, most of which were underwhelming. If you think someone who has played a game in five different seasons and is 29 a prospect you don't know the definition.</div></div>
Okay nerd, Dries was just an example. Flyers would get a good prospect with this deal. Konecny really is not that much better than Boesor. Boesor and a top 5 Canucks prospect and the deal is set. Flyers could instead opt to lose Konency in FA.

You make it sound as if Konecny is a top tier player in the NHL. He’s only marginally better than Boesor, and the Flyers would be getting a top prospect. Dries is a future middle 6 centre-men.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mortarhead</b></div><div>love the leafs but your expected contracts for the UFAs are way under estimated imo.</div></div>
There’s a reason behind every contract. For example, Bunting at 1 year for 2,000,000 only happens if the GM can give him a reason to stay for another year. Connor Hellebuyck is that reason. If Treliving can land the superstar goaltender on a trade, then Bunting becomes inclined to sign a deal of that nature. Same with the other UFA’s. They’ll be more than happy to accept a discount to go chase after a championship. The Leafs with this roster are undisputed cup favourites heading into the season.

If it’s not enough, you toss in a 1st round draft pick, anything more than that and you are pushing it.

If you think Dermott, a potential top 4 defensemen. Nick Robertson, a highly touted prospect, and a 1st round pick in one of the deepest draft pools of the century. If you think that isn’t even close enough for a 30 year old UFA forward who’s contract expires next season. Then you need to see a psychologist.

In defence they’re arguably better with a 200ft defensemen in Mayfield, and as for goaltending goes. I would rather have JT Miller playing 20 minutes every game than have a goaltender that you’ll barely use.

Look at Tampa; it's Kucherov, Hedman and Vasy. Saying that the Avs should trade Mac because, in your opinion, he's not the #1 guy is like saying Tampa should trade one of Hedman or Kuch so they only have one true #1.
Like I said, they can get Fleury without giving up Mac; there is no reason to trade Mac and they're better with him than without him. In fact, he's cheaper than Suzuki for next season. Also, Suzuki is not a 1C; he may be played there by Montreal but that's because they don't have a true #1.</div></div>
That’s weird of you to say because I was thinking that Colorado would win that trade. Kirby Dach, a high upside rfa top 6 player. A 1st round pick that could easily end up being Bedard or Michkov, or another top 6 at the very least, and if that alone isn’t enough for a ufa player that is looking for a 100% pay raise. Colorado is also getting the final piece of the puzzle for a Stanley Cup team. Marc Andre-Fleury.
The only thing that Chicago is getting is one measly season of Nathan Mackinnon, who almost certainly wouldn’t re-sign with them anyway.

If you were a gm you’re claiming that trading your best winger just to open up cap space to sign a worse winger is an “out of the box idea” The idea is god awful. If you really wanted to sign Hyman, there are far wiser ways of opening up cap space outside of trading a 1st line near point per game winger. Don’t claim you’re prudent with this so called out of the box thinking. It’s just ignorant.</div></div>
While Boesor is currently Vancouvers top winger, we already know that Boesor has no interest playing in Vancouver long term, why keep a player that you will inevitably lose in 5 years for absolutely nothing? Why not trade him for draft picks and bring in some key players to build a stronger team.
