Description
The new GM trades away Samsanovs RFA rights along with a 3rd round pick for Connor Hellebuyck on a 1 year rental. With the knowledge that an extension with Hellebuyck is almost unlikely. The GM has decided to take a chance on this team by giving them a Superstar goaltender in Connor Hellebuyck. Even if it’s only for one year. In a move to add size to the Defence. Treliving has brought in Carson Soucy on a 5 year deal. Luke Schenn is also given a lucrative long term contract to retire with the team. This makes Mark Giordano the 7th string defenseman for the team. If this is not enough of an improvement. Treliving ha decided to sign ROR and Tarasenko to deals worth a combined AAV of $10,000,000. 5 a pair. This will help create a dangerous third line for years to come. JVR has been signed with the hopes of playing as a complementary top 6 player. Carl Hagelin, a speedy shutdown winger has also been brought in to help create a speedy 4th line checking line. With David Kampf also being resigned into a lucrative long term deal. All these improvements have convinced hometown kid Michael Bunting to resign on a 1 year deal for $2,000,000. With added depth across all lines, and the addition of a superstar goalie, the Leafs go on to win their first Stanley Cup since 1967. In the process they also win the Presidents Trophy with 55+ wins in the regular season. Becoming the first team since the 2012/2013 Chicago Blackhawks to win both the Stanley Cup and the Presidents Trophy award in the same season. Connor Hellebuyck also wins his 2nd Vezina trophy in his career. Posting 40+ wins, 9 shutouts, and a 928 SV%. Hellebuyck also wins the Conn Smythe as the MVP playoff performer.

The Jets are going to get a huge return for Connor Hellebyuk and they won't need to retain salary to get these assets. That deal is never gonna fly.

VGK went to the final with Adin Hill and Florida with Bobrovsky.

Goalies are voodoo and honestly Sammy can take us to one as long as he’s not injured

That joke of an offer, Doesn't get Hellebuyck at full value let alone 50% retained. if that's the best you're offering Hellebuyck will be playing elsewhere. He'll probably give Chevy a 4-5 American team list that'd be interested in signing long term. And just sign a long term deal instead of being a one year rental.

If it’s not enough, you toss in a 1st round draft pick, anything more than that and you are pushing it.

There’s a reason behind every contract. For example, Bunting at 1 year for 2,000,000 only happens if the GM can give him a reason to stay for another year. Connor Hellebuyck is that reason. If Treliving can land the superstar goaltender on a trade, then Bunting becomes inclined to sign a deal of that nature. Same with the other UFA’s. They’ll be more than happy to accept a discount to go chase after a championship. The Leafs with this roster are undisputed cup favourites heading into the season.

the word is Bunts wants 4 to 5 years aav of 3.5 to 4.5 - Tarasenko isnt signing for less than 6.5 (on a team with better tax parameters, florida, texas, nevada)

this team would never be (imo due to salaries offered) but for arguments sake, its pretty competitive and deep...I would say add a vet coach and lets see.

This summer is Bunting's only opportunity to cash in. He's not eating a turd sandwich in UFA. LOL

Poor Bunting. He can't even dress properly. He needs all the cash he can get in UFA.

Really underwhelming offer for Hellebuyck and I'm not a Helle fan, would need that 3rd switched to a 1st at the very least and even thats probably a bit light.

Honestly Helle isn't a savior goalie, doubt he's getting past the first round with this team.
