Lines for the rest of the season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluedemon5</b></div><div>He hasn't been bad, I would definitely say he's one of our best six defensemen. He's been on a rotation with Dahlstrom and Forsling basically playing 2 games then getting scratched. In terms of playing top 4 minutes, Colliton has been leaning heavily on Keith, Gustafsson, and Murphy to play heavy 5v5 minutes with Seabrook playing on the kill and powerplay. The pairings have really been a blender in terms of who is playing with who. I like the kid though, I think the Hawks will keep him around next year.</div></div>
Many TB fans were confused as to why he sat. Strong skater, can move the puck, decent scorer. He needs to add some muscle. Hope he does well, he took being benched very well.

Is Slater playing well enough for second pairing? He was never given a fair chance in TB.

Marleau has a full NMC, so he isn't going anywhere unless he signs off on it. And I don't think he would go anywhere, unless maybe SJS.

He looks totally lost out there, I feel terrible for him. I almost want to just give him back to Arizona. But if he can get going, he could be an awesome add to our top-9.
Btw, did you see the Caggiula injury? I didn't get a chance to and I'm not sure I ever will

CBJ misses out on Duchene and Hayes
I actually think there's more risk in this for Chicago. I definitely like the trade - Wennberg has a lot of potential - but if he can't tap into it, I'd hate to be stuck with his cap hit for 3-4 years.
That said, I like this trade for both teams. Columbus gets the better player (right now) and a young defenseman who shows flashes of excellence. Both will help them if for an all-in push. Not my first choice of moves if I'm them, but if they miss out on the big fish, I'd pull the trigger.
EDIT: As a side note, Wennberg and Saad had some chemistry in Columbus. Just something for Bowman to consider....

Is Strome effect a thing? I hope it is! Come on down Pool Party!!! Really though, Strome is a very unique/different case. That can't be the benchmark. A fringe NHL/AHL player (in Chayka's mind) turned into a solid point per game 2nd line NHLer??? That's a rare thing. I get that Wenneberg is a playmaker...kinda like a Krejci esk type player, but the Hawks need AA's defensive ability and net front presence more. Especially considering he might be centering Kane. That 2-way game is more important. Kane is playmaker enough for any line. AA is more important to the Hawks than having a Wenneberg.

No from Buffalo, if we trade Hunwick we also trade our 3rd to Pittsburgh. So in essence its a 2nd and 3rd for AA, no thanks

If this is possible, then Chicago can be young enough to compete for playoff for long-term. The only issue I'm seeing is that the goalie may be weak if they are unable to resign Crawford

Gus is on his way out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluedemon5</b></div><div>I'm all for it trust me! I just hope another team is</div></div>
I'm not. At $1.2m the guy has been outstanding. He single handily turned our powerplay into a strength. He's also a better player then Forlsling, Dahlstrom or Koekk hands down which is are only other options on the left this season. Next season, I highly doubt Beaudin or Krys are ready which leaves us with the hope that Forsling, next best comparison to Gus, can be better and stay off of IR. Otherwise we are relegated to moving Murphy to the Left assuming Boqvist and or Mitchell comes up.
Hawks logjam of defense is starting to shake itself out. Ideally, you want players playing on the natural sides and you want a offensive guy teamed up with defensive guy. With Keith and Seabs declining, I though Gus and Murphy would make a great 2nd line pairing for the remainder of this season and next, but doesn't look like it's going to pan out this way.
New pairings will likely be;
Keith - Murphy (Seabs)
Dahlstrom - Jokiharju
Forsling - Seabs (Murphy)
....and I don't like it without Gus in the lineup.
Next year
Keith -Jokiharju
Murphy - Boqvist
Forsling/Dahlstrom - Seabs

I think it'd be easy to get a 1st for Gus, I'd be willing to throw in some extra depth players (Hayden, Kruger, Kunitz, Anisimov) to get more in return. Won't be much more but why not?

Is this a fair Toews deal Eli wants to know
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I mean, unless the Caps find a buyer for Holtby, at a fair price of a 1st and a top prospect, there is no way they would consider adding Toews. So it's 99% just in fun that I would even mention him, and I figure that's obvious to other Caps fans, so there's no need to get the price perfect. At the same time, <a href="/users/bluedemon5" target="_blank">@bluedemon5</a> trying to tell me Connolly would not be a top six forward on the Hawks tells me he does not watch the Hawks.</div></div>
If you actually watch the hawks, you'd know they score plenty of goals, with the potential to have more 20 goal scorers than the capitals (they already have more than the capitals currently), and Connolly will be on the 3rd or 4th line.

New Team Doctor
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluedemon5</b></div><div>Dude you're delusional.</div></div>
He has posted some excessively homer-istic trades before buy Connolly, Dowd, 30ish, 60ish, 90is and 120ish for Toews takes that cake!!! I thought that waiver wire Jaskin and D-level prospect Lewington for Sutter with 3 years of $2M retention was going to take the cake. But then a "pile of blah" was offered for Toews. Then DEFENDED in a serious manner.
He posted last week that no matter what he posts people say it isn't enough. You would think that over time that would sink in and the AGMs would get better. But no. Instead we get "justification" as to why dime-a-dozen-Dowd and UFA Brett Connolly is good enough to net Towes. It is literally troll level AGMs, but he thinks that they are actually fair value. It's not like that moron that posts the idiotic Pittsburgh AGMs with 50 draft picks traded and such, pure willing troll. Here he actually looks at these and thinks, "Yep, that's fair!" and is serious.
And yes, this IS as constructive as the criticism can get because the trade suggestions are so completely insane and far off value. There is no basis in reality.

Is this a fair Toews deal Eli wants to know
No, BUT I'm very happy this was brought up. Toews is having a career year. That's not a joke. He's on pace for the most points EVER in his career. He's 2nd in the entire NHL at the dot (with a minimum of course...true centerman) He's somehow a PLUS in the +/- category for arguably the worst team in the NHL. He's still a defensive stalwart that he's always been. He's commonly forced to go up against the opposing teams top line. And when that's not the case...when the other teams have the last change...they've been tossing out their shutdown line against him and he's still producing. Admittedly that's because Kane and Toews have been paired together as of late.
***EDIT*** We need to give credit where it's due just like all the haters that want to tear him down. He's CRUSHING it!

Nah but Chicago should do it ;)
Don't let <a href="/users/Eli" target="_blank">@Eli</a> pull out some random factoids about faceoff percentages in Tuesday night games at the Barclays Center or whatever... there is no reason for a trade like this and the Hawks could get significantly better pieces if they ever put Toews on the block.

If this is a serious post, no. It's not even close. Although Toews is slightly overrated and not a huge offensive force, all Washington is giving up is a 3rd/4th liner in Connolly and a fringe NHLer in Dowd plus picks. You'd have to start with a young roster player that's can develop into a top 6. IMO no deal starts without Vrana and a 1st. But realistically I don't see Chicago moving Toews anytime soon

Bruins aren't paying 10.5M for another 5 years when they have key players like McAvoy and Carlo coming up. Bruins just aren't in a position to be making any trade that it would take to get Kane. It would leave them in cap hell and depleted.

Yes, you're right. No sarcasm. PHI's defense made it to the eastern conference finals! Who changed from last year? Let's put it this way...The hawks are playing Brandon Manning ALOT. 27 games so far. He's not a healthy scratch. He's part of the contributors. Even when you watch the broadcasts...Eddie O just feels bad for Keith. Keith has to play with a young guy like Forsling....who's a LD, but playing RD to get more ice time. It's just a mess on defense for CHI.
